Why Not Mix Eating And Drnking?
PEvette replied to KikiCC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its painful...I find it painful to try to eat and drink...I may take 1 or 2 sips, but that's only if I feel like some food is getting stuck... -
My favorite breakfast is one fried egg, topped with 1/8 cup of reduced fat pepperjack cheese, and 3 slices of center cut bacon...total around 170 calories....and I love it!

I Love Having Water At Night Again!
PEvette replied to JentryB2020's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just had my band removed in June, after having it for 7 years....my doctor was able to do both procedures the same day....my surgery took longer than he thought it would (2 hours) but it was because he had to clean the scar tissue around the band.... But he was able to do it.....I think doctors tell patients that so you can know what the worst case senario would be....when he told me that I could have 2 surgeries instead of the one, I starting praying to God.... God please guide Dr. Yu's hands so I can have 1 successful surgery, amen....every time I thought about the procedure I would say that prayer.... If you dont want to procedures, make sure you follow the 2 week pre-op diet to the letter and pray..... prayer works!! -

Jesse Jackson Jr. Had A Duodenal Switch
PEvette replied to Sansa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well technically yes they can, the surgeon will tell you which one he would suggest, but ultimately if you have the cash, most will do the procedure... both my lapband and revision were self-pay....my surgoen for my lapband was against giving me the lapband, he recommended RNY (the sleeve wasn't around in 2005) but I insisted on the lapband...fast forward 7 years I wish I'd paid the extra 5,000 for the RNY.....but I learned my lesson, I have the sleeve now, and I dont regret it.... -

How Do You Fight Your Old Ways & Habits?
PEvette replied to Darksides's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now let me explain what I meant about staying away from high carbs....some carbs are good for you...like oatmeal and whole wheat items....those are complex carbs which means that they break down slower in the body than simple carbs like white rice and egg noodes and stuff... My doctor recommends Kashii products because some are high in protien and complex carbs...I especially like a cup of the Kashii Go Lean Crunch with flax seed with a 1/2 c of light soy milk....that'll keep me full for atleast 3 hours... One thing I have learned so far in this journey is that when it comes to my eating I must plan plan plan....be intentional about what you put into your body....mindless eating is no longer allowed... -

How Do You Fight Your Old Ways & Habits?
PEvette replied to Darksides's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well IMO, you should stay away from any high carbs while you are losing weight....carbs do not fill you up, which means you will empty faster, and desire to eat again....stick to protien and veggies....and dont forget your Water.... The best way to get rid of old bad habits is to replace them with good healthy habits...quote from my therapist...she suggest making a list of non-food related things you enjoy doing....and when you start thinking about your old habits, pull out that list to find something good to d... -

PEvette replied to Piplula's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No, actually I enjoy eatting them...they take care of the need I have at times to just have something in my mouth...like gum or candy or something.. -
Yours probably say that because of the carbs in oatmeal...I eat it, but limit my intake of oatmeal, grits and other hot cerals because they are loaded with carbs...

Any Insurance Problem With Going Fron Band To Sleeve?
PEvette replied to Krismarie0605's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well some insurance companies only cover one WLS procedure for life...I would call the insurance company directly to see what the requirements are.... Alot of people like to rely on the doctor's office to do the work for them, and when something is missed and their stuff is denied, they like to blame the doctor's office when if they called the insurance company themself it would've saved time... I called and was told revision would not be covered on my policy so I self paid -

Protein Shakes Only Twice A Week?
PEvette replied to Look@meitsEmily's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, she probably wants to see if you can make food changes on your own, without relying on Meal Replacements.... My NUT wants us to eat protien as much as possible, so I use shakes or extra protien about 3 times a week....but I'm post-op... Best of luck to you! -
