Help, I Can't Win The Food Fight Mentallly.
tabithainbremerton replied to tabithainbremerton's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I feel like if I eat junkie food or food I used to eat I win. But if I eat healthy foods like fruits or vegetables or other 'foreign' foods then I lose. I have not been able to shift this in my head. It's like I'm secretly victorious by eating crap, which I KNOW IS WRONG! I think if anyone else feels this way they would get what I'm saying. I appreciate everyones responses, it helps to have support and some different mindsets. And the good food ideas, new things for me to try. -

Help, I Can't Win The Food Fight Mentallly.

I have had lap band since December, what I notice is I eat a lot of the same foods as before, just smaller portions. And I do avoid the avoidables like bread, Pasta, etc. But I eat candy, and nachos (a slider food for me.) I can't wake up and just eat a protien shake then go to work. I want food! Has anyone else beat this battle? It's all a mental thing, what do you say to yourself to eat better. And I don't know how to eat better, I never have. Ate crappy foods my whole childhhood and then as an adult. What's a simple change to start? Like cut out chocolate bars and eat .... Or cut out chips and eat.... IDK. Any ideas? Any good food I might like? Thanks Tab. -
Thanks everybody. I found the spot on lapband.com, but needed a code from my doctor I didn't have. So I just called my surgeon office, they said they would give me one at my next fill, and they did. I haven't used it yet, but it's nice to have it.

on lapband.com dashboard about halfway down is My Lapband Journey Tools. On the right column is "Get your lapband personalized ID card."

I recently went to a friends wedding dinner, the meal cost me 35$ and I only ate 4 bites of it! I was told by a friend that she knew someone (you know how that goes) who had a card from her surgeon that said she had weight loss surgery so she could order off the kids menu. Has anyone heard of that? i don't eat out a lot, and usually my daughter will just give me a few bites of her meal and I'm fine. But I wonder what other people do when they eat out. I dont want to just order soup and salad every time, I want meat! It's bad enough I eat so little everyone insists on staring at me and asking how I could be full already (people who KNOW i've had the surgery.) Thanks!

I only waited a few weeks, and drink when I want to. I only drink once every month or two, but if I want to I will. I just read a whole other blog about 'cheating' on your diet, and it's not a diet, its a way of life, so I am not going to not enjoy myself. I drink in moderation, and if I want to- I will and I do. It wont add extra weight in the long run as long as you're doing everything else right. Just go slow at first until you figure out what your tolerance level is.

Your special 'cheat' day
tabithainbremerton replied to Veronica.N's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hmm, I realize this is an older thread, I just have been wondering if people take a day a week off or something silimar. I'm glad I ran into this though, it makes me realize I dont have to take a day off, because it's not a diet. I recently took a day where I decided I was just gonna eat. I still logged everything; took the bag of chips and counted out 2 servings and logged it, etc. The biggest thing I took away from that was that yes, I can still eat 2-3000 calories a day if I want to- it proved to me that this isn't all about just having a band placed in your stomach, you still have to work for it- despite what outsiders think. Apparently I could eat 2-3000 calories every day if I wanted to. But I choose not to, yes I CHOOSE not to! What a great feeling. My average daily intake for the last two weeks, including my big eating day is 841 calories, so I'm happy with that! It's not easy, I needed that day. But now I see maybe I should not take a whole day, just eat something I like that may not be 'band approved' once in a while. Thanks guys! -
Suggestions For A Person Who Works Graveyard Shift
tabithainbremerton replied to FAT2FLAT43's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I said this in a previous post, so this might be redundant, but I bring some of the 100 calorie snacks that you buy at the grocery store. I know there are healthier choices, but I dont have guilt about eating 2 of 3 of those a night as a 'snack'. Plus my protein drink. So I'm still only up to 800-1100 calories a day. Plus I pack a lunch of dinner left overs from home. You can still snack, and you probably will snack anyways, so just pack better choices. There's all sorts of those 100 calorie snacks in the cracker aisle, plus by the granola bar section there's a bunch more choices. Snack away! LOL. (within reason, I guess I should say.) -
Any Night Shifters Out There?
tabithainbremerton replied to pooky032281's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have started packing the 100 calorie snacks. I drink my protein around 8pm, then i allow myself a few of the 100 calorie snacks (the pre-packaged type.) I use Mio in my water, no more soda or caffiene. I have actually found since i cut out caffiene I dont need it, and I dont have the highs and lows associated with it. I have no problems staying awake and i was a 6 cans of Mt Dew/night kind of girl. Sometimes I do head to the kitchen around 6am for some scrambled eggs, if I'm starving. But I figure i go right to bed after work, so if i'm hungry I'll just go to sleep and it won't matter. I do usually pack a "lunch" also, which is left overs from whatever dinner was at home. We're lucky because our facility has a little gym, so if i get really bored at night i go do a mile on the treadmill, that will wake you up and help you feel more energetic. Good luck to you! -
I added everyone whose fitbit site was listed here. The only thing i don't like is I guess mine doesn't sync up at work. and I work overnights, so it looks like i haven't done anything when i have. I guess i will always be a day behind. Oh well.

Did you find one? I ordered from Best Buy website because they didn't have any in stock, it was defective. So i returned it and ordered from Amazon. But you could always order it from their site. There's no big price difference anywhere because it's so new I guess.

Anyone Get Stuck At Setup For Fitbit With A Mac?
tabithainbremerton replied to horsegirl315's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I got mine yesterday, couldn't sync it up for nothing. I did see one trouble shooting option- use a pen or paperclip and push little button on bottom of charging base, it is reset button. Then you have to uninstall and reinstall software on your computer. It worked for mine- we had spent about 6 hours trying to get it to work, pushed that button and it synced right up. Only problem now is it wont charge... so we still may have to take it back.
