Lara, Glad to see you here! I can't wait to meet you in Mexico!! -
I'm just over 2 weeks out and I'm a little scared. I'm flying into Monterrey, Mexico and getting my surgery with Dr. Arturo Rodruguez. I've heard many good things about him and his staff - I'm also meeting up there with two other girls that are getting their surgery at the same time - 1 the day before and 1 the day after. I'm very excited!! How long did the pain last after your surgery?

Hi Sophie, I'm going in on March 2nd and my emotions are all over the place too. I guess it's probably normal to be a little apprehensive.

Dr. Arturo Rodriguez - Monterrey, Mexico
MrsCooper posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hello Everyone,I have been searching and searching for a doctor that is inexpensive, but that I was comfortable with. I have researched doctors in the US, India, and Mexico. The 3 most important factors were 1)cost 2)safety and 3)experience. There were a lot of doctors that fit into the safety and experience categories - cost was another story, but was very important to me because I am paying out of pocket. I have decided to go with Dr. Arturo Rodriguez in Monterrey, Mexico. His cost is $7900 and that includes everything except airfare.I have not set a date yet, but will do that within the next 2 weeks. I will be scheduling for sometime in March.I am wondering if anyone else is looking to do this and will be going it alone and would be interested in going at the same time - that way we won't feel completely alone and will have someone to share the fears, excitement, and overall experience with every step of the way. Let me know if you or anyone you know may be interested. Thanks!! -
getting banded in Feb?

:help:I have been gathering information on the lapband for several months now and have decided it is the path I want to take. I am unable to affort to pay for the procedure up front, but I have concerns that my insurance company is going to give me the run-around as my bmi is 36 (but I do have the qualifying medical conditions to go along with having a bmi under 40). Anyone have a bmi under 40 that is using United Healthcare? I have called them several times to find out what their qualifications are, but they would not give me a direct answer - they said they were unable to give me that information and they would only give it to the doctor performing my surgery. I do have my doctor picked out and have gone to 1 support group meeting so far, but the doctor said it is best (and less expensive in the long run) to find out what the insurance company needs before scheduling an appointment with him. Any suggestions?
