3 Days Post Op And Side Pain!
pink dahlia replied to shellvw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had the side pain for about 10 days, it felt like a bad pulled muscle over the port on the left side. i was so bored after 2 days at home that i went and did some lite xmas shopping, i felt that good !. The fresh air and a little walking made all the difference. just take it realllllll slow and easy, including the boating and getting in and out of the boat, etc..... Have fun ! -
i had my surgery on a tues and went back to work the following monday. On my feet all day(retail) , no problems at all. just made sure i didnt lift anything heavy and took my time moving. Never had any problems (6 months out) , its been a breeze. The only pain i had afterwards was it felt like a bad pulled muscle on my left side for about 10 days. Good luck, and you'll be soooooo glad you did this !

Could It Really Be.... Dun Dun Dun... The Green Zone
pink dahlia replied to apreezy1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Im with you on this one. I just had my 6th fill 3 days ago, last night was my 1st solid food since then. i had a little pasta with a little homemade sauce, and this am i had a hard boiled egg and 2 chicken meatballs. im comfortably full. I am so hoping ive hit the green zone. it would be nice to not always think about food, and then i could get the dang scale to move ! So how do we get enough healthy foods in ? Advice ? thanks ! -
dry pork chops or dry chicken , no way but moist is fine. Hash browns and other potatoes and thick potato chips all swell after a couple of bites, so i limit them to 2-3 tiny bites. thin potatoe chips, no problems. After my 5th fill i had a horrible "stuck and up chuck" incident with raw broccoli (It was'nt pretty) . I just had my 6th fill 3 days ago, we shall see.......................... As another poster said , she could walk into any store and find cute clothes, and yes , the tradeoff is so worth it ! Good bye potatos, hello skinny jeans !!!!

:( 8 Months Post Op Not Doing Good!!
pink dahlia replied to Leslie R's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i was banded shortly after you were (dec13th, 2011) and i just had my 6th fill 3 days ago. Everyone is different as to how many fills they will need, but you HAVE to make that commitment to see your Dr for fills and followups. You didnt gain that weight overnight and its not going to be lost overnight. I was hungry alot too lately, so i commited to that 6th fill and may need another in the future. Its an ONGOING journey. Also the tech told me to google "Glycemic Index" for the best foods that fill you up. Its very helpful ! So far im down 38 lbs, i hope you see your Dr soon and watch the scale go down , down, down !! good luck ! -
What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
pink dahlia replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Blue eyes..................where does that jerk get off ? Someone made the smart comment of weight loss being a million dollar industry. Oh how true ! If just eating right and exercising did the trick we would'nt NEED all this million dollar diet stuff, or a lap band would'nt of been invented , for that matter. The weight loss industry has PROGRESSED for a reason, it EVOLVED into a multi million dollar business. Too bad your hubby has'nt "progressed" or "evolved" either. Sorry ALL of you had to go through this, and yes i believe in karma too. Years ago i adored a co worker who was quite overweight, she was funny, smart , kind and hilarious. I was medium weight , but i just accepted her for who she was. then i started struggling with a weight prob after 30, and gained alot of weight. Thank goodness i never made fun of anybody who was overweight , because now im dealing with it myself ! karma !!!!! They'll get their comebacks, you'll see ! -

i found a exercise that i love , so im willing to stick with it (water fitness 3x a week). Now that ive lost some weight and also feel better, it makes me feel comfy trying new things. I have alot more energy so i tried Spinning last week. not too bad ! i didnt hate it and will give it another try this week. try differnt classes, maybe something will ring your bell. Also i was advised to look outside the local community center for other exercises. the local stables have horses, a local dance studio had dance classes, etc. I was invited to a belly dancing class, all shapes and sizes of women , but im just not into dance classes. anyway , keep an open mind when it comes to exercise. you never know ! good luck !

Congratulations ! Welcome to the other side. So rest and walk around the house to get the gas out , and you'll probably feel better in a couple of days. dont forget your fluids ! My 1st 2 days were resting, by the 3rd day i went and did a little lite Xmas shopping. just being outside and breathing fresh air for an hour did wonders for me. Hope all goes well ! im so glad i got banded, it has been sooooo worth it !

What An Amazing Journey! -100Lbs :)
pink dahlia replied to pollywogg's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I cant wait to be you ! 100 lbs is amazing !!!!!!!!! good for you for sticking with it ! some people think 1 lb a week is too little, but i think its perfect because it gives your body time to adjust and keep the weight off. Love those NSV's! too ! Good luck ! You're doing great ! -
How Does The Band Feel
pink dahlia replied to Rosario_35's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its no big deal, if i run my hand over my stomach i can feel it if i press down a bit. its about the size of a quarter, hard, just below my ribcage. Most of my weight has come off my tummy area, (38 lbs !) so its easier to find now. Im so happy with my weight loss so far , i dont even care that there's a port in my side. -
Restriction Question...
pink dahlia replied to ktmoss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this may sound like a ridiculous idea............. but if you're ADHD and have to be "doing something " while you eat, have you considered going to the Sporting Goods store and getting your self a little clicker thing ? Umpires use them to keep score, so do golfers. You could "click" everytime you chew and then would be able to keep track of your chewing and also be "doing something" as you eat. Just a thought ! -
im not a big popcorn fan, but i occasionly have a handful or 2 with no problems. Chips are a different story. Tortilla chips expand on me , making me very uncomfortable, so i chew a couple of tiny bites very very well . Regular thick potatoes chips like "Tims Cascade Chips" do the same thing , but Lays Sour cream and onion dont bother me at all. (They're thin, so that can make a difference) Anyway, im not a big salt fan, so i rarely have any kind of chips.

Just Got Home From My First Fill...afraid To Eat.
pink dahlia replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
going for my 6th fill today. im hoping i will finally hit the green zone. i have only had medium restriction, but still havent done too bad. im down 37 lbs since December 13, 2011 and still hoping to break this 4 week long plateau of 188 lbs. Try soft gentle foods for a day or two to see if you get stuck, i find white bread or potatoes, or dry chicken are the most difficult. good luck to you ! -
Two Years, 70 Pounds...and Pregnant!! :)
pink dahlia replied to maggs79's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
you cant imagine how happy i am for you ! what a gift ! hoping all continues to go well ! Count your blessings ! Congratulations ! -
i used my Magic Bullet and made Campbells chicken noodle soup or vegetable beef into pure liquid by pureeing (spelling ?) them, mmmmmm, they were so yummy! I couldnt stand chicken or beef broths, (too salty) but i loved the Campbells. Also, try pureeing watermelon(mostly water) , its yummy too. I still like Boost protein drinks (10 grams of protein per bottle, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ).Check with your Dr first. I agree withthe previous posts, stay on the course because it is sooooooo worth it ! You've barely begun your journey to a new and improved you, so dont give up when the journey starts getting a little tough ! you can do this ! The liquids are only temporary , so hang in there! Nike sign- "While it may suck that I cant eat some of my favorite foods all of the time, it sucks even more to be stuck in a body I hate" Oh, how true...........
-
I saw this Nike quote somewhere........." While it may suck that i cant eat some of my favorite foods all of the time, it sucks even more to live in a body that i hate ." Ohhhhhh, how true! your friend may be stuck in a body she hates and may be jealous of the fact that you may be competion, etc..... you have to do whats right for your health and body, not theirs. in 6 months ive gone from 225 to 188, a size 18 frumpy, am happier and heathier, look and feel 100 better, and its been oh so worth it ( and the size 14 skinny jeans yesterday didnt hurt either ! )so you just do whats best for you and maybe she'll come around when she sees your progress ! If not, its her problem , not yours. good luck !

What Was Your Last Hurrah?
pink dahlia replied to sissy12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ive been banded almost 6 months and i still eat steak, about once every 2 weeks. Lucky for me i can still eat almost everything i did before, just in smaller amounts. The only thing ive had a real bad reaction to is raw broccoli (a baddddd "stuck"), and i had 3 sips of a strawberry margarita and had a bad reaction to the resturant 'cheapie" tequila. i eat bread, and potatoes and an occasional tortilla chip in very small amounts, and chew very well, otherwise they expand. (ouch !) My hubbys diabetic and a meat lover so we eat anything diabetic friendly. Hope all goes well for you ! good luck ! -
Just Wanna Kick Myself In The Arse!!
pink dahlia replied to angelblessed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is some tough love coming your way , so be prepared ! Im sorry you have to go thru this with no support at home, but hey , you'll get lots of support here ! You have to remember WHY you got banded in the first place. It was'nt to get others healthy and strong, it was to get your self healthy and strong. "Others" are not responsible for your past or future weight . (You are , and you CAN do this ! ) They may be childish, immature or irresponsible with the way they are treating you, but nobody is eating that food but you ! So get back to your Drs orders and while it does take time ,work and patience, the band DOES work, and you will see results ! Ask yourself where you want to be in 6 months and suddenly that junk food doesnt look so good ! The band doesnt take away cravings , you just cant eat as much, you have to make better choices , and exercise. my dr agreed that if i followed the rules 95 % of the time i would be good to go . Ive lost 37 lbs in 6 months. so where do you want to be in 6 months ? Good luck, you can do this !! -
Embarrassed Of My Lap Band - Ridiculous, I Know...
pink dahlia replied to goldielocks<3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you made a smart decision to get banded, as its a way to get healthy and strong . however , some people who know nothing about the band may see it as a cop out and you're going to get flak from them. if you're the least bit sensitive about it , i say DONT advertise your face or anything that people could connect to you. once info of any kind is out there, its really out there ! And theres no taking it back !EVER I had no problem telling people about the band and got 100 % support from family , friends and co workers, but i knew i was dealing with good people in the first place. Im kinda a private person outside of that and would not feel at all comfy sharing anything with the rest of the world. i dont do facebook, dont put much private info on my lap band profile, etc. So i would suggest you keep your privacy if youre uncomfortable . you can always change your mind later. Good luck !! -
Taking A Short Road Trip A Month After Surgery
pink dahlia replied to Megatron's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
dont forget to take several plastic grocery bags in your purse. if youre traveling and you get stuck ,or have a reaction to something you'll need a bag . I know...... its not what you want to hear but better safe than sorry. stick to soft food as much as possible, wait on anything hard ( raw veggies, hard fruits , !breads, potatoes , etc.) have fun! -
Success - Sometimes Bitter Sweet?
pink dahlia replied to ditzypoohjean's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This is an interesting subject. Ive been thin and ive been heavy , and yes ive been treated better when im thin. Sad but true. I cant change peoples perceptions about me based on my weight. I will say this , since ive lost some weight i dress better, put more effort into my appearance, and have a lot more energy and am happier because i feel better too. as a result people respond to all of that, and so yes im treated better. I also think people treat others well when they treat themselves better. By being banded, im eating better and exercising, so when other see me treat myself good , they treat me good too. Just an opinion. my hubby loves me thru thick and thin, but it is nice to have people be complimentary to me.
