Look into some different forms of exercise and see what interests you. I dont like weights, treadmill, or dance classes of any kind, but i love the water fitness class i take 3x a week. That , plus walking and a little jogging has helped alot . once i lost some weight i felt i could try something new, so 2 weeks ago i tried Spinning, and i didnt do too bad. It was kinda fun ! So , keep an open mind and try something new ! Good luck !

Leave a roll of lifesavers and a bottle of water in the car for the ride home. Surgery and recovery was a breeze except for the cottonmouth i had all day. Lifesavers and alot of water helped . Good luck ! Im so glad i did it !

Surgery Tomorrow-Terrifed, Nervous....
pink dahlia replied to erveeen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded about 6 months ago. BEST. DECISION. EVER. Last December i weighed 225 lbs. , was unhappy in my own skin, tired all the time, wearing a size 18/1x , yada yada yada..................you know what im talking about . Today i weigh 182 and am still losin about a lb or so a week.. My energy is way up, i love the healthier and happier me, and im wearing a size 14 skinny jean ! (Me !!!) The extremely minor problems have been my own fault, , like eating too fast or too big a bite. No big deal . The positives are far outweighing the smaller negitives , which in my case are i cant eat raw broccoli or dry chicken. Um, oh darn................ My surgery was so easy, i went Christmas shopping 3 days after surgery. Other than feeling like i had a bad pulled muscle on my left side, i had no pain. I could go on and on about the positives but you get the message. The only thing you'll regret is not getting banded sooner. JUST DO IT !!! -
1St Day Post Op...what Have I Done?!
pink dahlia replied to Ready2loseIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Give it about 10 days, you'll feel lots better ! I found hot tea ( decaf), and lots of water, and hot chicken broth ( Campbells)helped.. Im down 44 lbs in 6 months and i have no regrets ! Good luck ! -
im thinking your diet is too boring and the same ALL the time ! I understand that you do better when you know what you're going to eat so you dont have to think about it, but i think there's a better way to live than just the same 3 foods ! You might want to look at some good healthy foods, and then prepare them 1-2 x a week. Put them in small tupperware containers marked "Protein", "fruit" "veggie" and "carb." Then when you're ready to eat, its all ready to go. Others might have better food ideas, but heres mine. Protein = chicken breast, hard boiled eggs, salmon or turkey burger ,fish, turkey jerky, sliced steak, and my all time favorite Bruce Aidells chicken teriyaki meatballs. Mmmmmmmmm..... Fruit and veggies are what ever you like, and carbs = brown rice, whole wheat noodles, yukon gold potatoes. (My hubbys diabetic, so most of our meals are diabetic friendly.) Its all grab and go, a no brainer ! Hope this works for you. Good luck !

Either This Or That...i Hate Not Knowing......
pink dahlia commented on Shelleymb's blog entry in Shelleymb's Blog
Keep the appt. The only thing you'll regret is that you didnt get banded sooner. It is sooooooo worth it ! Im down 44 lbs (started at 225, now 181 ) in 6 months, i cant believe how much better i look and feel. Ive gone from a size 18 to a 14, have lots more energy, my pants are too loose (again !) im getting lots of nice compliments, i like what i see in the mirror, im getting stronger and like seeing my belly disapear, etc.... ( Ive dealt with depression, its not pretty, all the exercise and healthier food helps alot ,............. so Keep. The. Appt !!! -
i dont live anywhere close to your state but as far as" the struggles and failing again", well being overweight is a struggle too. And who hasnt "failed" on diets ?? If diets worked for everyone they would of never invented LapBand. Look upon the band as gift that does take some work, but what doesnt ? Weight loss isnt easy, but my dr said if i stuck with the rules 95 % of the time , i would do fine. (making good food choices, small bites, chew well and exercise 3-4 x a week )" Thats it ? Thats all i have to do and i'll really loose weight ? Seriously ? " Well , guess what ? I was banded last December and im down from 225 to 181 as of today ! (Me in a size 14 skinny jean ? Unbelievable !) I look and feel 100 % , i(Only 50 lbs to go !), my pants that fit fine a month ago were too big yesterday, ( whiny voice here......Shopping againnnnnnnn ??????????) i have lots more energy etc......, Oh honey , it is sooooo worth ! Get banded !!!

Hang in there ! It does get better, it just takes a little time . As tmf said, your body is recovering from surgery , it usually takes a week or so for your body to get all the anesthsia and stuff out of it. Try sucking on ice cubes and popsicles for your water, or hot drinks seem to go down much better, so try some Campbells chicken soup (minus the noodles and meat) or some hot decaf tea. You'll feel much better. You need to take it one day at a time, Im 6 months banded and sooooooo glad i did it, its been so worth it ! Hang in there !

Super Nervous .... First Fill Tomorrow !!!!
pink dahlia replied to natbug2011's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i agree with SageTracey, its healing time, not neccesarily loosing time. I just had my 6th fill 8 days ago and FINALLY hit the green zone. i hit the green zone for about 12 days with my 3rd fill, that went away and i ended up getting a 4th, 5th and a 6th. I hope this sticks around for awhile ! Loosing slower means your body has the time to adjust and keep it off ! Good luck ! ( Fills are pretty easy , they're not a big deal.) -
Over Weight Since Child Hood... Anyone Else?
pink dahlia replied to wannabhealthymedic's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
great question !! i honestly dont know, i never even thought about it . Hmmmmmmmmmmm.............If this is any help i never had a weight problem until around 30 years old (Im almost 54) i was a skinny muscular kid right through late 20's. Im 5'3, always weighed about 120-125. When i got married at 29 I weighed 143, had a child 18 months later and thats when i started having trouble with my weight. My metabolism slowed way down around late 20's, and I think i inheirited my 1 grandmothers and my 1 great grandmothers weight problems. Both were between 4'11 and 5'3 and were heavy. My mom and dad and brother are all normal weight. So i dont think losing weight is easier or harder, as im going through the same struggles as everyone else (dieting, weight watchers ,etc, with poor results, hence, Ta-da !!!!! The Lap Band ! So far , so good !! Down from 225 to 184 and hope i can get back to 143 ! -
Miss The Hunger?
pink dahlia replied to banditalovely's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well................... your friend is only a week out of surgery, so she probably doesn't have any appetite yet. So, to her she "misses being hungry." Her appetite will return, as having weight loss surgery does'nt take away the feeling of being hungry, you simply get filled up faster with smaller amounts. I dont know about gastric bypass, but the band will let you know when its time to eat. According to my Dr, as long as you follow the rules 95% of the time (healthy foods in small amounts, regular exercise and stay up on fills as needed) you'll be successful. So far, so good ! -
at my 3rd fill i hit the green zone for about 12 days, then it was back to being hungry. Sigh............ the tech said "this happens sometimes, the saline settles in the nooks and crannys of the band". So i had a 4th , and then a 5th, and nothing........... then i had my 6th fill a week ago on june 4th, and whoa nellie ! I hit the Green Zone and i hope i stay there ! i eat small amounts and im full , The weights starting to come off and ive lost 4 lbs since last monday . Its finally working , and im down 42 lbs total since last December ! Give it time , it will happen for you too. Its very important to keep a daily food and exercise log. Try Myfitnesspal.com or keep a homeade log. Good luck !

Getting Frustrated-Weight Not Coming Off Like I Thought It Would
pink dahlia replied to kariew28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ive been banded 6 months, lost 42 lbs so far. 5 of that was the 2 weeks before i was banded. i kept a weight diary , and even though some might think this is wrong, i weigh myself everyday. I dont get upset over the #, it just helps keep me accountable NOW for food and exercise. No waiting to get back on track ! !!! Over the course of a few days i noticed i went up a few lbs. By looking at my diary i noticed i had eaten too many salty foods. As soon as i went back to healthier foods, the weight started coming off. Keeping a food and exercise log might help you, and even if the scale doesnt move you will be proud of yourself for all the healthy food entries and all the exercise you'll have done. ( And when your clothes start getting loose too !!!) The band DOES work, its just not overnight. Just follow your Dr's rules about food, exercise , water, and fills. Good luck !!! -
What Are You Most Looking Forward To?
pink dahlia replied to fericito's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
too many things to count, but just a few here....................... i want to be able to run , ride a horse, climb easily into our camper and boat, be healthy, wear cute clothes that fit, weigh between 125 and 140, like what i see in the mirror , etc......... -
im not a pizza fan, maybe a once every 2 months or so. I think its the bread part because it expands and can get stuck easily. Try thin crust ??

Shopping In My Closet
pink dahlia replied to auntielle's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
hopeful 60, you lost 228 lbs in 3 years ? thats amaaaaaaazing ! you must be so proud of yourself ! way to go ! I like getting rid of too big clothes too. I have a lap band support group meeting tommorrow night, and for the 3rd month in a row im bagging up a whole bunch of too big clothes for the lady who is just a little bigger than me. It feels good knowing i will never be that big again ! Down from a size 18/1x to a 16/14 or large. Woohoo !!!!!!!! -
Great idea ! I dont have any Band friendly recipies as i did'nt know there was such a thing . I just thought since each person is different, you just ate/cooked what ever you could tolerate. My husband is diabetic so most of our meals are diabetic friendly, and he must watch his salt intake too. He doesnt like sweets, and i dont need them so there are no sweets or junk food in our house, outside of a little salsa and chips. Try looking for diabetic recipies online or for cookbooks at 2nd hand stores. Yummy ! we eat well, Lots of recipies with ground turkey, beans and lofat refried beans all meats, ,whole wheat noodles , fruits and veggies and lots of lo salt, low cholesterol items. i can tolerate most foods so we have a good variety. good luck !

Congratulations ! You're doing a great job ! Its those Nsv's that will keep you motivated when the scale is'nt moving . You will start noticing little things happening that you did'nt see coming, but are very encouraging. YOU"RE AWESOME !!!!!!!! I was so excited too , when i got banded last December, 2011. My Dr agreed that if i followed the food rules 95% of the time, got my fills as needed, and exercised 3-4 x a week, i would be successful. Well, he was right ! Im down 42 lbs, gone from a size 18 to a size 14, and look and feel 100 better ! Yesterday a female co-worker ( who had the band several years ago) said to me "I hope you dont take this the wrong way, but your ass looks amazing !" We couldnt stop laughing !!!!!!!! Heres hoping you ass starts looking amazing too ! Best of luck !

i had horrible cottonmouth for the first day, ( banded Dec 13th, 2011) its because of the anestheisia. i found sucking on lifesavers or a hard peppermint put moisture back in my mouth. Just dont CHEW it as you dont want anything hard going down. just drink as much liquids as you can. Try Propel, Gatorade light, Decaf tea, etc. As far as the deep breaths, i dont know. i would call your Dr asap, just to be safe and set your mind at ease. The first 10 days i felt like i had a badly pulled muscle on my left side, other than that i felt fine. hope this helps ! Good luck ! You'll be so glad you did this !
-
Way to go ! You will be soooo glad you did this ! I was banded Dec 2011, as of yesterday im down 40 lbs ! My Dr said if i followed the rules 95 % of the time i would be successful. He was right, and im wearing a size 14 skinny jean today ! Unbelieveable...............................Good luck to you !

What Are Good Foods To Eat What Should I Put On My List To Buy.
pink dahlia replied to Tranique0219's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i am crazy for Bruce Aidells teriyaki pineapple chicken meatballs. Also, eggs, O'bertos Turkey Jerky ( a good source of protein, travels well, no refridgeration), almonds, walnuts, oatmeal, fish, chicken , turkey burgers, laughing cow cheese, and for ice cream cravings, a frozen sugar free chocolate pudding cup , ( Yum !)
