In need of some advice/words of encouragement
pink dahlia replied to roxie1705's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I would go talk to your WLS Dr. asap ! I dont know when your last fill was, but I find that when I have the proper amount of fill, I get full so quick from the protein and fruits /veggies, that i have waaaay less interest in sweets. ( sweets are my personal demons. If I could , id live in a candy store.....sigh.....) Go see your Dr and tell him whats happening BEFORE this gets any worse ! Good luck ! -
I saw the pic of the girl in the Coochie Cutters, my first thought was " No. Fricken. Way. This has GOT to be photoshopped !!!!! Sigh.......... sadly , it's not. Sigh....... Anywho, Jenny, im about your height ( im 5'3) , and 90 % of my clothes and jewelry come from Goodwill. I get lots of compliments on my outfits that I buy on the cheap ! I buy feminime, classics that are stylish and age appropiate. ( Im 55) . My daily fall / winter look is slightly flared jeans , a long sleeve t shirt, a cute jacket or cardigan , a long scarf, and flat boots, silver jewelry. Spring is more colorful, less layers. If i didnt get it at Goodwill, I got it at Old Navy, TJ Maxx, or Penneys. Keep an open mind when you shop, and buy stuff that looks good on that hot new body of yours ! Good luck !

Yes, I admit it. I am a total girlie girl. I pay much more attention to my hair, nails, makeup and clothes then I did before WLS. My hubby thinks im muuuuuch more attractive on the outside , I get nice looks from people who think I look pretty, I love what I see in the mirror, and the first time an adorable male friend said " Girl, you are smokin !!!! " , I said " Thank you ! " ( and then thought , and what are YOU smokin ??? ) !!!! If loving this is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Congrats on the 1st one, and of course she was probably checking you out ! Its a little hard to miss so much fabulousness , now isnt it ? Hello ? Your pics have changed alot, congrats on your hard work !

I second all the above comments ! I would of pointed out that she was being insenisitive and rude, but in a very polite way. If she said it again, I would ask her how she would feel if you made a rude comment out loud several times about HER body. Sometimes thats a game changer ! Also, she seemed more concerned that you might have gained the weight back then for your safety swimming in the ocean ! That part was rude too ! She sounds very unaware of how her running off at the mouth offends people ! That being said, congratulations on your weight loss, you should be very proud of yourself ! YOU ARE AWESOME !!!!!!!!

surgery is in the morning
pink dahlia replied to jaedwards's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dont forget to take a BIG bottle of water and a chapstick with you. I came out of surgery with bad cottonmouth, it took all day and alot of water to get rid it. Dont forget to follow your Drs orders on walking, water, rest and pain meds. My surgery and recovery was very easy, hope yours goes well too ! Good luck, it was sooooo worth it ! -
When we wore out our Magic Bullet, we got a Nutri Bullet. I read the reviews on both, so glad I got the Nutri Bullet ! It crushes ice , makes a " heathy " shake, quickly grinds nuts and seeds, does just about everything quickly, and it cleans up nicely too.

100 lbs GONE FOREVER!
pink dahlia replied to Corridor72's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You are fabulous wrapped up in awesome, are'nt you ! Congratulations on allmyour hard work ! Way to go ! -
OK, how do you handle these kinds of situations?
pink dahlia replied to gowalking's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hmmmmmmmm.................interesting question ! I think that you handled it very well, and while you dont "owe" anybody a backstory on your former size, it is part of your past journey. Being that your friend was discussing weight and hip problems , and you have that experiance in your own life, I think you could share your past and how you solved some of it with WLS. You are a great role model for others that are trying to lead a healthier life by getting a stronger , healthier body, wheather it was done by WLS or not. As far as people whom ive met after WLS . ? If the conversation warrants it, I say one sentance and drop it. If they are curious and ask a ? or 2, im happy to share. If not, we move on. -
Gained 4lbs in one day...
pink dahlia replied to lole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ive gone up or down 2 lbs in a couple hours if I believed my WW scale. I use the scale as a guideline , not a lifeline. You might choose to stay off your scale and go by how your clothes fit. -
Not big enough for WLS?
pink dahlia replied to I will what I want's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Im not tall, 5'3 on a good day, and most people wouldnt of guessed I weighed 225 lbs or had a bmi of 40. I couldnt lose weight by myself either, and had sleep apnea, high bp, and digestive problems. Now im 65 lbs lighter, no more sleep apnea, digestive probs, and I only have mild high bp. My life has improved 100 %, no question about it. Your friends may be "shocked" at your decision possibly because most people dont know the 1st thing about WLS. If you had said "dental surgery " or " heart surgery" to make your life better, they would'nt of been so shocked maybe. Do what YOU need to do to get a healthy body and a happy life ! Good luck ! And........ the old saying " A tiger doesn't lose sleep over the opinion of sheep." says it all ! -
MALE HUMOR OF THE DAY
pink dahlia replied to 2muchfun's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
TMF !!!! Im trying to type but I cant cause im laughing too hard !! I totally "get" your sense of humor, as im kind of a dork too !!! The most hilarious part of this is my sort of redneck hubby loves fishing stores AND works in the Elevator trade !!!! This just screams " him!" He'll just die laughing ! -
I dont know the calorie content of this, but wow , is it good and taste rich !! 1 frozen banana, cut into pieces, 2 tsp honey, 1 Tbls cocoa, milk of your choice, coconut, 1%, almond milk, whatever you like, use 2 Tbls milk for ice cream consistency, or 1/2 cup milk for a thin milkshake. Blend all ingredients in a blender, pour into bowl or glass. Yuuuuummmmmmmm

Recently Lost a Best Friend Because of My Decision to Get Bariatric Surgery
pink dahlia replied to Sharon C.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Wow. .............. speechless.......... well, almost . I agree 100 % with the previous posts, thank goodness we have alot of support here, even when we agree to disagree. That being said, I know you're sad about losing a friend , but you should be proud of yourself for moving forward to being healthy and strong. That will get you farther in life than being unhealthy and weak. Your friends warped ideas of "body acceptance " screams " its ALL about ME, and what I think !!! " HER own issues with HER body and life are what shes concerned with , not YOUR health. Both slim and heavy people can love or hate their body, its a state of mind. Im proud of you for going forward to a healthy, strong body, and if you look more attractive, hey thats a bonus !! I wish you well ! -
How did you first learn about weight loss surgery?
pink dahlia replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I remember seeing the ads for lap band in ladies magizines, but just glanced at the ads in passing. It never even crossed my mind to consider surgery for my weight problem. It would have been like asking me if I wanted to fly to the moon ! Then my hubby casually mentioned one night in June of 2011 that his sister and her hubby were both having lap bands done very soon. A lightbulb went off ! I followed their progress all summer, doing my research, and was banded Dec, 2011. Wow ! Success ! So glad the weight problem is GONE !! -
A Year Ago I Made a Life Changing Decision
pink dahlia replied to wadeg7's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow !!! I literally don't think I would of reconized you as the same person in the 2 pics if you had'nt told me ! What a major difference ! You look great! So happy and healthy ! Congratulations ! ( p.s. - its nice to have a supportive spouse, is' nt it ? I' ve got a keeper too ! ) -
Arggh! A little girly topic here...Why is the scale going backwards?
pink dahlia replied to nomorejellybelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you need to stay off the scale during your tmo because you're forgetting about water retention, salt intake , etc. Gaining 2 -3 lbs during that time is not uncommon. Just keep eating healthy, lots of water, and doing whatever exercise you can will flush everything out when the time is right. Good luck ! Also congrats on your weight loss so far ! Way to go ! -
Craziest weight loss "compliment" you've ever gotten?
pink dahlia replied to BandedBrunette481's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
When I was heavy, I had an assistant manager who barely gave me the time of day. I think I had one conversation with him and he was kind of snappy to me. Totally uncalled for. Then when I lost 50 lbs and looked very different, suddenly he was calling me "Slim", commenting on how great i looked and talking to me for no reason ! Weird ! He transferred to another place a year ago but happened to come through our work about 4 months ago. Again, "You look great !!!" Gee.......... thanks......... I can appreciate a man who thinks a lady is attractive, but before WLS I barely existed to him ! Geesh !! -
I used to be a " carboholic" too, until my hubby was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago. We started eating much more diabetic friendly, and I found that the less carbs I ate, the less I craved them. Now if I get a potato or a little whole wheat pasta once a week, im happy. Rarely do i have bread, my only other "must have" is a few Wheat Thins.

Nine days after surgery, how to help
pink dahlia replied to pxinaz's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Uh oh ! Here comes the Tough Love Train !!!!!! Honey , HE is treating YOU like crap, and yet you're asking " how do I get HIM up and moving again ?" How about with a swift kick to the A $$ !!!! That'll get him moving !!!! Its one thing to be a "little " demanding or snarky after surgery, hey we were all there probably , from the pain , etc. Its a totally different thing when someone is verbally abusive and refuses to do anything for himself. TOTALLY. DIFFERENT. HE needs to see a psych Dr to deal with his behavior, and you might want to see him /her too to find out why you feel its your respondsibility to deal with HIS problems that HE wont deal with himself. Tell him "God helps those who help themselves " and " Not my circus , not my monkeys ! " - ( it means " not my problem ") sending you hugs ! -
Sandy, you're one of my "Inspirations" ! We're about the same age and starting weight, so im hopeing I can still get the last 20 lbs off. Thanks for sharing your story. Any tips, food or exercisewise ? You're awesome ! Congratulations ! You look great !

Tmf - other than the occasional strawberry margarita, im not much of a drinker , but if adding rum to your "milkshake " makes you happy, well allrighty then !!!! Whatever blows your skirt up , as we say ! Me, 1 drink and its night night time, or as my hubby calls me " a cheap date ! " Gee, thanks honey.............
