Amen to the above posts ! See your Dr. and HR rep asap Kpurdy- PB stands for Productive Burping. It's when something is a little bit stuck, and a good burp or 2 clears the way. Sliming ? Thats when food is really stuck ! You have to throw up the food along with the normal saliva that surrounds your food, its very " slimy". Gross , but it happens as you learn to eat like a bandster. When this does happens occasionaly, you are supposed to go on liquids for 2 days to give your band time to heal.

Things just got real!

Congrats ! Nothing to be scared of ! Mine was a piece of cake ! Just listen to your Dr.s rules and you' ll be fine. Happy for you ! -
Campbells chicken noodle or veg beef soup, ( broth only), jello, propel or vitamin water, popsicles, protein drinks, swiss miss cocoa, etc good luck !
-

I think you had every right to be ticked off ! My last kid moved out recently ( yay !) , but when they lived here some of them had no problem taking stuff t hat was' nt theirs, no matter what we tried. Sooooo, I like the above idea of colored stickers, and if one kid eats something they should'nt have , charge EACH of them a dollar amount... That will make ALL of them watch out for the other food thieves ! Good luck !!

Getting Band on 8/5. Any tips on what to bring?
pink dahlia replied to Makinchanges4me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A BIG bottle of water, chapstick, lifesavers, tooth paste and tooth brush. It took me a full day to get rid of the cottonmouth. Flip flops, 2 pillows for the car ride home. A magizine with cute clothes so you can see what you 'll be wearing soon , in smaller sizes. Good luck !!! -
I usually dont spend much on hair products, I just assumed drug store items were fine. WRONG !!! Besides the Joico products, I alternate with Jessica Alba's ( yes, the actress) shampoo / body wash and Tresemme Nourishing Rituals liquid gold therapy. My. hair . turned. into. silk. No joke .

Congrats ! Welcome to the other side !! As far as I know , you are NOT supposed to be eating anything !! 2 says post op you should only be on liquids , like chicken broth, protein shakes, flavored waters, etc . Probably for 1-2 weeks ! Why are you eating ? Also , you should NOT be out at the shops 2 days post op , chasing a busy 2 yr old. You are supposed to be home resting for several days, with drinking fluids and gentle walking in the house. ALL of the above is to make sure you heal properly after surgery.. Did'nt your Dr. explain all of this to you ????

I have thin, straight, baby fine hair, colored , a bit dry and just past my shoulders. I was concerned about hair loss, but never lost any ! This past year I've started using Joico shampoo and conditioner. WOW ! What a difference in a month ! My hair went from dry and difficult , to soft and shiny. This may not stop your hair loss, but it sure makes the hair you do have look really nice. Glad my hairdresser reccommended it ! ( sold at salons and sometimes T.J. Maxx or Big Lots etc.

Just left pre-op and I'm an emotional mess.
pink dahlia replied to DanaKat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Clothing wise, the smartest thing I did was buy 3 outfits , 1 size down from what I started at. ( I bought them just before I was banded ) I made sure I could mix and match as many of those pieces as possible. That way as I started loosing I had a few items to fit into. ( nice to have when your pants start getting baggy ! Woohoo !) -
Congratulations !!! Makes you feel like your hard work is paying off, does' nt it ??? Keep it up !!!

Occasionly I have trouble getting a piece of lettuce down, but I still eat salads because I love them, especialy with grilled chicken , sliced strawberries, a few almonds, a sprinkle of shredded cheese, with a tiny bit of honey mustard dressing on the side. Yummmmm. Also I try to avoid fast food but if im out and need a healthy lunch/ dinner, Mcdonalds has a really good bacon ranch salad with grilled chicken . Since I can only eat half of one , its about 200-300 cals.

Your profile does' nt state where you are from. Let us know where you live and somebody will generally invite you to a local support group where you can get lots of support and advice. Good luck ! Hang in there !

PREOP...NERVOUS...ANY SUGGESTIONS
pink dahlia replied to susanmm50's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First off, im sorry for the loss of your mom, I know this is hard for you. ( I lost both my parents to cancer in the summer of 2012, I had been banded Dec, 2011. ) I believe my parents are watching out for me, maybe your mom is watching out for you too. Maybe thats why it seems to be happening a little fast ? Just a thought. If you make a checklist of things to do and buy beforehand I think you 'll feel less overwhelmed.. Also, you will need someone to take to to and from the hosp day of surgery, and stay with you for the next 3 days or so. Its hard to get off the couch or move much for the 1st several days.. I went back to work on day 8, felt fine, never had any problems.. Hope all goes well for you , goid luck ! -
Pre-op, nervous newbie, possible relationship losses
pink dahlia replied to DanaKat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. You and your husband said it all. Good for your hubby who is supportive ! ( I have one too ! He's a keeper !) Just because your friend has jerk of a husband does' nt make it your problem ! She needs to deal with that herself instead of using you and your WLS as an excuse for her life problems. Also, instead of eating and drinking as your entertainment, maybe take up a healthier hobby that you both enjoy ? Walking, spin class, swimming, etc. Maybe something quieter like a book club, a healthy cooking class, or yoga ? The more she gets out and has contact with others , the less dependant she'll be on you. ( also it might cut back on the Drama Queen whining !!! Just sayin'. Good luck to you !!!! -

Who is your "friend" more concerned with, her or you ??? She can't change or accept your different eating/drinking habits one night a week ?? Yeesh ! Somebody is being very self centered, I just won't say who ! Good for you for being proactive about your health ! I always say, you may have more than one house, car, pet, job, spouse , kids or friends in your lifetime, but a body ? A life ? Honey, you only get one of those , so treat them nicely ! Good luck to you ! -

Lap Band Success~ From 300+ to One-derland!
pink dahlia replied to a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Candelen02, if this is any help , my hubby was diagnosed a diabetic about a year or so before my WLS.. We started cutting back on anything white, or high carb like potatoes, pasta, bread, cereals etc.. We switched to more baked chicken, fish and high protein meats, brown rice, whole grain pastas and bread. Potatoes and bread maybe once a week. By the time I had surgery, I di'nt miss anything, because I was already used to eating it.. I did'nt like soda pop, only occasionally a margarita. My problem with weight was the large amounts I could eat, and an incredible sweet tooth ! Now, thanks to the lap band, both problems are under control better. Look up "Diabetic recipies "online for some ideas. Good luck ! -
Help I don't think my band is any good.
pink dahlia replied to forwardlooking's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well congratulations on the 50 lb weight loss !! I would see your Dr, asap if you are able to eat as much as you want. The Dr can help you more in person than we can on this forum. Good luck !!! -
Is it ok to drink out of a straw?
pink dahlia replied to catlover602's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Several weeks after being banded , we went out for dinner fo the 1st time after surgery. I took 3 tiny bites of the inside of a quesidilla, 3 tiny sips of my hubbys margarita ( I forgot and used the straw ! ) Uh oh !!!!! Half came back up in the bathroom, half in the parking lot ! I dont know if it was the alcohol or the straw, but DON'T try a straw unless you're way out from surgery, and preferably home near a bathroom. Just sayin' . -
NEW, advice? skin? what do you wish someoIIne told you?
pink dahlia replied to jewlz318's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Im not anywhere near your age ( Im a happy 56) , but im very happy with my band of 2 and half years. I dont have any loose skin, am 20 lbs away from my goal! ( which I may or may not reach, I think my body has settled at 160, ummm , oh well !!), and the only thing I regret is that I did'nt get banded sooner ! You may or may not have loose skin, but keep in mind, you are 19, at 280 lbs, and any weight you lose will be a huge benefit to you and a healthier future. Not being morbidly obese anymore is more important to me than the possibility of loose skin, even if was 19 again. ( If you do end up with loose skin, who are you going to be "pissed" at ? ) Good luck to you ! -
Feeling down and out...HELP!
pink dahlia replied to mrsjordan4jim's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Instead of completely changing your diet to liquids overnight, which is very hard to do, try cutting back 20% of your unhealthy foods and beverages for 2 weeks... On the 3rd week, cut back to 30% , 4th week.......... well, you get it. It's much easier to adapt new habits if you do a little at a time, but STICK WITH IT !!!! You can do this !!! Good luck !! -
Nobody recognizes me. Starting to get old...
pink dahlia replied to gowalking's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Christinarose, I totally get it. The day before my lap band surgery I attended a memorial for an old friend . I almost did'nt go , because I was so uncomfortable with people seeing me. Can you believe it ? She would'nt of cared and im glad I went, but I totally get where you're coming from. But im banded and healthy and strong now, and thats good enough for me. Best of luck to you !
