Never heard of 2 hrs, only the 30 mins rule. No idea why you would need 2 hrs. How in the world would you get enough liquids in ? Also, you'd have dehydration to deal with in warmer weather. Id ask your Dr. why the 2 hr rule.

STARTING OVER FOR THE LAST TIME
pink dahlia replied to kmalone1949's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I dont know what kind of gastric issues you're having, but you might want to look and see if any of your drinks have artificial sweetners in them, some of which can cause intestinal problems. Sorbitol, xylitol etc will cause cramping , loose bowels etc, most people dont realize it until its a Where 's the bathroom emergency ! Even one piece of sugarless candy causes problems with me. Just google "artifical sweetners " for more info. Good luck ! -
Everyone s different, but it took me 4 fills to get to the green zone, but I still lost about the same amount each month, averaged about 1 lb to 1.5 a week. Dont compare, yourself to others, your body will do what it needs to as long as your getting your protein in, lots of water, exercise etc. Slow and steady wins the race !

Good luck to all the above ! Hope yours goes as smoothly as mine did ! I was at the hospital @ 5:30 am and done and home @11:30 am ! It was smooth sailing from there on out ! And then it just got better and better ! Good luck !!

Financial Benefits of WLS or Have You Had a Good ROI?
pink dahlia replied to joatsaint's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I dont know except for maybe saving money when you fly ? No buying a 2nd seat, you can carry your own bag , so no need to get/tip a porter ect. Smaller clothes can fit into 1 suitcase, wheras bigger clothes might mean you need 2 suitcases for the same trip, and that cost $ at the airport. Just some possibilities. -
Congratulations ! Glad to hear things are going well ! I hear you on the walking and the sweets. I miss running and walking ( hip problems and plantar facitisI in my heel ), hopefully I can start back up in a couple of months. As far as sweets ? I could live in a candy store for the rest of my life and die happy. So far ive managed to keep my weight stable, but im happy for you for your 11 lbs ! Great job !!

Changing my mind......
pink dahlia replied to ren0318's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You're having that " sinking feeling" for a reason, because your instincts are telling you you're making the wrong decision about the sleeve. You have to live with a choice forever, your friends do not have to live with that choice, so listen. to.your.instincts. You have them for a reason. That being said, I was banded 2.5 years ago, smartest decision I could of made. I went from 225 lbs to 175 in 7 months, then slowly lost another 15, and I couldnt be happier or healthier ! And, I still have all my insides ! The 5% inconvenience of having fills, chewing slowly, small bites etc is NOTHING compared to the 95 % positive of living without being obese. Everything is just better. That is all. -
I don't care for salty stuff, so Im not much help there. I like crunchy or sweet, so frozen sugar free pudding, apple slices with a sprinkle of cinnamon, almonds, frozen yogurt bars, choc dipped strawberries, dried fruit and nuts, etc.

Help! How do I stop the cycle of binging?! :(
pink dahlia replied to Quasar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone s different, what works for one wont work for another, so choose whats right for you. All the above posts are full, of great helpful advice, so here goes another piece of advice. Try journaling daily the details of what you eat. Time , type of food, occasion, feelings, satisfaction etc. After awhile you'll notice a pattern, maybe ? I noticed that I didn't crave sweets in the AM, but really wanted them late afternoon or evening. So I keep some frozen yogurt bars and other healthy treats in the house for those times. Im not perfect, I still have stuff I shouldn't sometimes, but being aware and listening to my bodys wants and needs helps alot when im craving something. Am I really craving it, or am I tired, stressed, sad, overwhelmed ?? Hope this helps, good luck ! -
Anyone else having trouble eating post-op with others that don't?
pink dahlia replied to Peggy Jean's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
PeggyJean, as someone above said " you had the surgery, they did'nt." With time you will probably be able to eat most of what others eat, but for now eat in your room if its too hard to sit with others. Remember, this is temporary, not forever. Every stage is a new adjustment, but ohhhhh the payoff is soooo worth it ! I was banded 2 weeks before Christmas, so imagine eating only soup etc during the holidays !!! I was surrounded by good food , but other than a soft cookie or 2 , I stuck to the rules because I knew the weight would come off and it did ! By end of Feb I was down 19 lbs and my pants were falling off ! So choose what you really want and you'll see results soon ! Good luck !! -

Lap band surgery yesterday
pink dahlia replied to walkinginfaith72's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I dont know about anyone else, but yes my band is tighter in the AM. Ive read somewhere that its because as you sleep, muscles, organs etc get compressed onto the band = tightness. Most people drink a hot drink in the AM to start loosing up the band, later can eat a little food and eat more as the day goes on. Glad to hear all is going well with you, good luck !! -
You're cute, the dress is cute, but I dont think it does your figure justice. Maybe a wrap dress ? That would show off your curves, the v neck would accentuate your bust and draw attention to your pretty face. They pretty much work for any size and figure. Just my opinion. Good luck !!

I Don't Want to Buy New Clothes In Plus Sizes
pink dahlia replied to IcanMakeit's topic in Rants & Raves
Wow ! Congratulations on your weight loss ! You should be very proud of yourself !!!! As far as clothes go, try Goodwill and other local 2nd hand stores . Remember if you buy quality clothes , you can take them to a consignment store when you outgrow them and get back some $. While I dont have the same shape as you, you might want to buy clothes that have alot of "give" , or the ability to stretch a little so you can make them fit as your body changes. Maybe a nice black pair of yoga pants that could pass for work pants with a pretty top ? Nice dark dressy jeans that can be dressed up or dressed down. A wrap dress , cardigan sweaters , etc. You get the picture . Have fun shopping !! -
Hi all, 59 years and starting a new life!
pink dahlia replied to Darlyn Dwan Rottkamp DeVoe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mariemarie, my sleep apnea disappeared about 4-5 months after being banded. What a relief not to have to haul that machine around if I was traveling, (what a pain !) ! Also nice to know that I dont snore or gasp for breath in my sleep anymore. Having sleep apnea increase s your chance of stroke, so its nice to know that higher risk of stroke is gone. Hope this helps ! Good luck !! -
Hi all, 59 years and starting a new life!
pink dahlia replied to Darlyn Dwan Rottkamp DeVoe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded Dec , 2011 at age 53. My only regret is I did'nt know about the band sooner ! Every single thing in my life is better, I have nothing but good things to say about the band. The 5% daily negative is nothing compared to the 95% daily positive ! Im happy and healthy again ! Hope all goes well for you, welcome to the Loser's Club !!! -
Wow ! You're amazing !! Congratulations ! Share your secrets please !!!

No excuses. Just need help.
pink dahlia replied to JustWatchMe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, somebody's getting their momentum back !!!!!! Shake it, don't break it , honey ! You got this !!! -
I think it took me 4 fills to get to the green zone the 1st time. Then sometimes with other fills it would'nt really kick in until several days later. My DR. told me it wasn't an exact science, as everybodys body was different, and could react differently. So, just stay on your course and DONT give up, its a TEMPORARY setback ! You got this !!

This is probably the best/worst thing for some of us, but it works for me ! Once a week I bake cookies or brownies for my co workers. Started it a few months ago, and they say it really makes them happy ! I cant have the stuff in my house because I ll eat it, so I get the baking bug out of my system, eat a couple and pass the treats onto others. We're all happy !

Amen to the above posts !!! He/she is sadly misinformed ! Reading the success stories here and other places will show you that there are many more success stories than there are failures. I eat more than 2 oz of food at one time, no more sleep apnea, im stronger, healthier and happier than ive been in along time ! Hopefully your new Dr. will be smarter and more knowledgeable than the last one ! Good luck !
