What's your favorite Lap-Band approved meal?
pink dahlia replied to BeachBish's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My "go to" breakfast is Belvita breakfast biscuts with a piece of turkey jerkey, lunch is usually leftovers , so salmon, chicken thigh , tuna or elk burger with salad or fruit, dinner is some type of the same meats with salad or veggies, maybe a little brown rice or 1/2 a small potato. Snacks are a few wheat thins w/ PB, Swiss Miss made w / hot water, a cheese stick or a granola bar. -
Weight Loss Surgery: The Easy Way Out?
pink dahlia replied to Elizabeth Anderson RD's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Elaine Sunday, I hope and wish that a week, a month and a year from now you will see your journey in a better light. Please don't think that because you like to cook that you won't be able to cook much. I cook more now than I ever did ( a kitchen remodel and Pinterest helped alot !) ! and as far as eating, well who does' nt like eating ?? We ALL like to eat, otherwise we would'nt be having WLS !! I just cook and eat healthier, and in smaller amounts . Thats it. No huge changes other than the very rare fast food. But the 5% negative of being banded is NOTHING compared to the 95 % of being banded. Its been a win win from the beginning !! I hope you start seeing all the positives coming your way !! Good luck !! -
Well somebody got up on the awesome side of the bed this morning, now didn't they ??? Congratulations to you !! Way to go on all your hard work ! Keep it up !!

What’s Your Relationship with Caffeine?
pink dahlia replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't like soda pop at all, I have 1 alcoholic drink every month or 2, and the smell of coffee makes me nauseous, so I've never had a cup of coffee in my entire life ! ( Im 56). I have 1 cup of reg tea in the AM, and when that caffeine hits me Im bouncing off the walls ! ( I know, I know........ Im weird, but obviously very sensitive to caffeine and alcohol, etc....) After that, its decaf tea, Swiss Miss cocoa w/ water, and a little Propel water. -
Congratulations on the beginning of your journey ! I had sleep apnea, and digestive problems before I was banded. As soon as I was banded the digestive problems completely went away, and 6 months after being banded the sleep apnea was completely gone. Never had any of them return, its just been a win win all around ! Hope all goes well for you, good luck !!

The best thing about my band is_______
pink dahlia replied to Julie norton's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
It enables me to live a normal life in a happy, healthy body every.single. day. That, and size 10 skinny jeans. That is all. -
You're not the 1st patient who gained back 10 lbs. Nip the weight gain in the bud NOW, before it gets to 20 lbs and more. Your Dr. is there to help you, and get you back on track, not criticize a patient. Good luck, you got this !

I use straight Stevia every day in my tea, I don't have any problems with it.

What do I miss ? Raw broccoli, chicken breast, and the conveinence of being to eat without "thinking" about it. ( reminding myself internaly to take small bites, chew well, small portions , and to be cautious with breads , rice, pasta etc) What don't I miss ? Being too heavy and uncomfortable mind, body and soul, ALL the time. Old lady size 18 clothes . The looks people gave me , kind of " she does' nt look like anybody I'd want to talk to/ get to know / flirt with, "etc. Now , its the complete opposite !!!! (My hubby loved me before, but he's VERY happy I lost the weight ( the old me is back ! )

not sure where to post this- husband absolutely does not support wls
pink dahlia replied to sonjajade's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I say this with all due respect and love, but the fact that BOTH you and your husband are over 300 lbs makes it a possibility that BOTH of you will be in a possible situation of not being able to raise your kids in a healthy way, as obesity can cause so many problems in your future AND theirs. Think about it. Also you have a higher risk of health problems with being obese than you do in having WLS. Try laying the odds in front of your husband and see if that helps him come aroundcat all. I wish you well. -

pink dahlia replied to MrsFraga2016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

help 7 months in 35 pound down and stalled whats my prob
pink dahlia replied to Size66's topic in The Guys’ Room
You don't have a problem, you're doing great !! My Dr. said id probably lose 1-1.5 lbs a week or so, sometimes more or less. If you do your math, you're loosing about 1.25 lbs a week , or 5 lbs a month ! ( 7 months x 5 lbs = 35 lbs) Great job !! Keep up the hard work !! -
not sure where to post this- husband absolutely does not support wls
pink dahlia replied to sonjajade's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I going to take a wild guess and say either he doesnt have a weight problem or a really small weight problem ? Sounds like either possibly ? At 320 lbs exercise may not be an option ( can he move 320 lbs ? Ask him to try it !) , and yes you may lose some weight, but can you keep it off forever ? It's YOUR body and YOUR life, and you only get ONE of those, so do whats best for YOU ! Make the decision in 6 months, but put your health 1st and his opinion 2nd ! Good luck !! -
Congratulations ! I was approved in Nov 2011 so I was able to have Thanksgiving but being banded mid Dec meant no Christmas eating but I didn't care ! Just the thought of having the weight finally off of me was a big gift in itself ! I truly did'nt mind looking at all the food and not being able to eat it. I thought "its worth it because this time next year ill be alot lighter ! " By the next Christmas I was down about 60 lbs ! Merry Christmas to me !! Hope this surgery is a great gift to yourself too ! Good luck !!

what to take to the hospital?
pink dahlia replied to jennyksmith84's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Chapstick, and a bottle of cool, not cold water for the ride home. Speaking of home, I couldn't stand the boxed or canned chicken broths. Way too salty, even the low salt ones. Instead I drank the broth from Campbells chicken noodle soup or vegetable beef. Not too salty, and I was able to get my liquids down. Good luck to you !!! -
2nd day post op lapband
pink dahlia replied to Jkim728's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations to Deez416 too ! If this is any help, I could'nt stand boxed or canned chicken broth. Even the low salt was way to salty for me. Instead i had Campbells chicken noodle soup or Campbells vegetable beef soup . I would just drink the broth. Oddly, I didn't find them too salty and this helped me get something warm in my stomach, Good luck to both of you ! -

What works for you?
pink dahlia replied to PuraVida37's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I do well with routine things , I think because my work schedule ( retail) is erratic, I crave things that are consistantly the same. ( one reason I visit this site frequently) . Snacks, workouts etc that I dont have to think about just seem to work for me. So, I like Belvita Breakfast Biscuts, turkey jerkey, pb on wheat thins and lots of Propel for my water intake. Working out ? Swim class 3x a week, and when my heel injury gets better, back to walking and slow running. -
Congratulations ! Good for you ! I bought all my clothes at Goodwill while i was loosing weight, I still buy 90 % of my clothes there now. They have good quality cute clothes, and since most women take good care of their stuff, and go up and down in sizes theres usually a nice selection. Later, you might be able to resell them to a resale shop. I found that if i stuck to Neutral colors and styles I could mix and match enough stuff until I got down another size. Have fun shopping !!

Some unexpected NSVs have me LOLing in public. You?
pink dahlia replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
Yasman, the 1st time I sat on the couch and pulled my heel up to my rear to give myself a pedicure was a complete shock ! It had been sooooo long since I had been able to do that ! Woot Woot !!! No more big tummy in the way or getting my air supply cut off when I tried to bend ! That was a fun NSV !!! Congratulations to you !!!! -
What's your favorite mode of movement (exercise)?
pink dahlia replied to blacktxbelle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I joined the Y just before I was banded, and started walking 1-2 a week. Walking turned into gentle running 2-3 x a week. Now ive had Plantar Facitis ( heel injury) since spring, so no walking /running allowed till January. I cant wait until I can start again, I sure miss running !
