Congratulations and welcome back !!! Sounds like you've got your personal train back on track with a great attitude too ! I think an "I can do it " attitude is soooo important. Good for you ! As far as a "blow and a blessing?", whats the name of that Garth Brooks song ? Unanswered Prayers ? I think you're going to be very successful in getting back a strong , healthy body. Good luck! !!

Im sorry you're having such a rough time, I would hope your surgeon would be a little more helpful, obviously not with the way he's treating you. If this is any help I can't drink anything ice cold, especially in the morning, it just comes back up. I also have cant do chicken breast, or pork chops like you. That doesn't mean you or the band failed, it just means you need to substitute chicken thighs and pork loin or try a thinner, softer meat. Same with trying out different types of lettuce and other foods. Sometimes it s the texture or the brand that can determine failure or success. I hope you keep trying before giving up completely. Sending you hugs !!

Ive been banded 3 yrs, no hair loss to speak of. I think my hair is healthier than before WLS, maybe because of a better diet of protein, fruits and veggies ? I just started taking Biotin ( for hair, nails and skin ) 4 weeks ago, Im not noticing any extra hair growth yet, but definitely seeing more nail growth. Ill give it a few more weeks beforecI can make a judgement on hair growth. I know several people who swear by Biotin ( drugstore brand ) .

Well, you're just amazing on top of being fabulous, now are'nt you ! Congratulations !! -
Well, not really sure how to feel about this
pink dahlia replied to Band Aid mom's topic in Rants & Raves
You can either look at it 1 of 2 ways, either you're going to get a stronger healthier body and a "supportive all the way" husband, or a stronger healthier body and a "supportive all the way" husband whose going to get tired of hearing about how his scale numbers are lower/different from yours. A wise person once told me " choose your battles wisely." Im lucky I still have a very supportive hubby, if you have one, count your blessings, not his /your numbers on a scale. Some people on this site will tell you that they have NO or little support at home. Sad but true. -
Dear veterans...... Need help..... :)
pink dahlia replied to Keona1323's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Just an idea here, measure out your portions to what you used to be able to eat. Eat them, wait 1/2 hr or so and see if you're still hungry. (Put away all your food, don't leave any out within site. ) If you are still hungry, fill in with more protein , fruits or veggies. If you're not still hungry, maybe you were just "cleaning your plate ". Old habits die hard. Good luck ! -
Curious -- could you have done it without Weight Loss Surgery?
pink dahlia replied to Vikingsfan8178's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Vikingsfan, ooooorrrrrrr , instead of having 80 % of your stomach removed, you might want to look at the Lap band. Way less invasive, reversible mif needed, quick recovery time. I love my band, no regrets ! -
Curious -- could you have done it without Weight Loss Surgery?
pink dahlia replied to Vikingsfan8178's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Nope, nope, nope, couldn't do it on my own. I went on Weight Watchers for one year, loved the program and the weekly support meetings, but my body just wouldn't cooperate and I only lost 12 lbs in a whole year. And I fought for those 12 lbs ! So, WLS ( lap band ) was a great choice for me. It gave me my life back and I couldn't be happier ! Yes, I have to be a more careful eater than a non banded person but if thats the only downside, I'll take it ! No regrets ! -
Help... At the edge of giving up
pink dahlia replied to nikkipk72's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, im sending you lots of hugs ! Hopefully, your Dr. appt. will be a positive outcome. I know you're dealing with alot of stressors, but did you consider a little bit of therapy to help you deal with your losses ? You're dealing with those changes and losses in an unhealthy way, or you can deal with those changes and losses in a healthy way. Either way, you have to deal with them, so why not do it in the best way possible ? Just a thought. I saw and interesting quote the other day. "By putting myself first, everybody gets the BEST of me, not the LEAST of me. " Just an idea. Hugs ! -
HELP please! I am so lost and worried,,, literary on the edge
pink dahlia replied to Holysaro87's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there ! Okay, 1st, take a few deep breaths ......................... you can't make good decisions when you're upset, so calming yourself will help you alot. 2nd, I have nooooo experience in this , so I cant and won't offer advice. But 3rd, you might want to consider a 2nd opinion. Taking out the band may not have to happen, and the time and money you spend on a 2nd opinion may or may not be less time, money and trouble than getting the band removed. Just an idea. I always remember, the letters M.D, stand for "Medical Doctor, " not '' I know everything ". Just sayin '. Good luck ! -
What holiday favorites worked for you this season?
pink dahlia replied to LipstickLady's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Slice up 4 -6 cups of any kind of fruits into bite size pieces, I like apples, strawberries, seedless grapes and bananas. Pour into a large bowl. Add 1 cups chopped nuts ( optional). In another bowl mix together 1 container vanilla low fat yogurt, 1 container fruit flavored yogurt, 1-2 Tbls lemon juice, a Tbls or 2 of honey. Pour over diced fruit and gently mix together. Store in fridge. It's really good ! -
I know its frustrating, but just wear something simple , and all people will be noticing is your weight loss and your BIG smile !!!!! PS - I still get 90% of my clothes at Goodwill, the smaller you get the more cute clothes they seem to have. I dress very nicely, always get compliments on my wardrobe !!! Congratulations on your weight loss, Happy New Year !!

Sorry, just read your posts now, sending you hugs and late birthday wishes !!! Anniversaries of some sort are hard on everyone, that special day meant something to you for some reason. Maybe try to remember the good things about that person, and maybe try to do something in his honor ? Maybe you could pick an organization or a hobby your late husband had , and donate some time or money towards someone who is in need ? That would be a way to honor his memory, and make it a little easier to cooe with yoyr loss. ? Every year in February ( her birthday) I send a small check to a certain Animal Rescue group that my late friend volunteered at. Everybody wins. Her memorial service was 3 yrs ago, a few days before my WLS. Ironic, was' nt it ? She had just lost her life to cancer, I was getting a new chance to live a healthier life. I try to remember those things and honor her life and others I have lost too. I wish you well. Hugs !!!!

Totally off topic, just need somewhere to share
pink dahlia replied to CarmenLeAn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations on everything that you'e accomplished !!! You're a winner !!!! You took a problem ( your weight ) and came up with solutions to make your life better. You worked hard to find a better life or yourself, even though it wasn't easy. Now , look at another problem ( your husband ) and come up with solutions to make your life better, again. Your husbands problems are not always yours to fix, you need to draw a line between helping him and enabling him . Hope this helps, sending you hugs !! -
Well, you're just awesome on top of amazing, now aren't you ? Congratulations ! Way to go ! Nice that your Dr. said you "used to be diabetic !" That must feel really good ! Keep up the good work !!!

Your Favorite things- fitness/ exercise related
pink dahlia replied to Luvin_Life125's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I love my FlipBelt . Its a fabric tube with slits that goes around your waist. It hold your phone, I.D. , keys etc so you don't have to stuff your things in your pockets, bra, etc. About $25 online ( google " flip belt "), sounds like a ridiculous price , but it works so well for running/ walking etc. Money well spent ! Also , I love my wool socks, Nike running shoes and my waterproof running jacket with a hood. I just got a Fitbit for Christmas, will have to see how that works this week ! -
Gingerisgreat, congratulations on so many things, especially the puppy ! We've had 2 Smooth Collie dogs over the years, best family dogs ever ! Smart, loving, great with kids, protective by barking, but not aggressive. Loved our cats too, very "mommyish" with cats and kids. Have fun with Rosie !

I told my hubby the only thing I really wanted was a Fitbit, and he got me one ! Yay ! My favorite gift to give was a really nice pair of headphones to my hubby because he loves to listen to music, and he was' nt expecting them ! He's hard to buy for because I don't know enough about his hobbies (hunting, fishing , golf) to get him the right stuff, but I hit the jackpot with the headphones !

To Band or not to Band?
pink dahlia replied to tailoredsleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

To Band or not to Band?
pink dahlia replied to tailoredsleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read your story (twice), you've done your homework well, you're seeing a therapist, so I can't figure out what's holding you back from surgery. I realize everyone gets to their decision at their own time, but you're still hesitant ? Your weight struggle is making your life more difficult, not easier. Here's a chance to live the happy, healthy life you deserve. By utter chance, the commercial for " My 600 lb life " just came on as Im writing this. Food for thought. Getting banded was tge smartest -
How soon after surgery could you drink normally.
pink dahlia replied to MattLAustin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't know as every person and their stomach is different . But, theres nothing wrong with just sipping all day. . As long as your getting your liquid in, just keep sipping and then see what happens when you drink a little more. I still can't drink anything cold in the AM, it will come right back up. But I have no problems in the PM with cold stuff. Good luck ! -
So THIS happened the other day. Me and my big mouth.
pink dahlia replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
Dying........... You have got to be kidding me ........... fairly certain that she'll think twice before she opens her mouth and says something so stupid and insensitive ! What is WRONG with people that they dont think before they speak ? Good for you for biting back !! You go girl !! (P.S., and I thought I was quick to respond ! You've got me beat ! Love the sarcasm !) -
I need your help/opinion
pink dahlia replied to fernanda.markus's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Im banded 3 years this week . I recovered quickly, started losing weight right away, and my 60 lbs, sleep apnea and digestive problems are gone forever. As far as "putting your life at risk " , you're already at risk by being obese. The problem of being overweight 24/7 are far more risky that a surgery and a healthy life afterwards. If your Dr.s think it's a good idea, and you've done your research, go for it ! -
First Fill and getting yelled at.
pink dahlia replied to amponder's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
First off , congratulations on your weight liss ! You should be very proud of yourself ! And secondly, if you have that Dr.s personal phone number, call him up !!! Just make sure you call him a complete ASS !! He had NO right to yell at you because you made an honest mistake. Poor eating habits dont change overnight, it takes time ! There isnt a person on this forum who probably didn't cheat before or after surgery. SO WHAT ! Tell him next time he yells at you , the building had better be on fire !!!
