Questions to ask during consultation
pink dahlia replied to Sara Childers's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Im sure my surgeon was a little surprised at some of my questions, but I wanted all my bases covered. I asked him how long he had been doing lapband, roughly how many surgeries, had he ever lost anyone from surgery or complications, what my success rate would be, recovery length and pain amount . Also, asked about fills, complications, etc. I didn't think I would have any problems with the psychological eval. or the nutritionist as, my goal was a reasonable 140 lbs. We all passed with flying colors, and I was so excited to "get 'er done !!!" Other than a few stuck episodes, its all been real easy. Best decision ever !! Good luck !! -
Maybe asked the wrong question..........................
pink dahlia replied to TheRealMeIsHere!'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Candidate, I have a coloring book called " Color me 2" , I think there's 1-4 , google Colormeyourway, com or contact the Illustator Pam at pjcsmart @gmail, com -
Saw a t shirt today .".......... If it was EASY it would be your SISTER ! " OOOOOHHHHHHH, That was an eye opener at the gym at 6am !!!

Count yourself luck that you only felt " crummy !" When I was allowed to eat solids I went out to a mexican restaurant, had 3 bites of a quesidilla, 3 tiny sips of a margarita ( forgot about no straws ) and proceeded to have everything.............. and I mean everything come up in the the restroom and the parking lot. It was beyond bad. So.......try to eat healthy most of the time, but dont beat yourself up over nothing ! ( my Dr.s rules ? 95% healthy eating, 5 % dont worry about it. It works !) Good luck !

Can I just ask one more question ? Im dying to know what her size is roughly ! Is she average size ? Small, medium or large ? If she's small to medium she may not ever have had a weight problem, (ignorant about obesity), if she's larger is she jealous of you because you're tackling your weight in healthy way ? Spitefull because she can't / won't deal with her own problems and you're working hard to overcome yours ? ( screw her! sorry........... that was my inside voice...........) Just curious. Either way, she's still going to be a hater, and your going to be even more fabulous than you already are !! Just sayin'............

Oh dear God I'm doomed! LOL
pink dahlia replied to Sajijoma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
At the appt. tell him that's EXACTLY why you need this surgery, because you're winded and can't think straight after walking ONE block ! Good for you for trying, and putting your future health in first place ! You've got my vote ! You go girl !! -
Great job !!! You have a crazy life and still put yourself 1st ! Way to go ! I rarely eat fast food, but I will say in an absolute pinch the McDonald s bacon ranch salad with grilled chicken is very good. Since I can just eat a little bit of it, with a tiny bit of dressing, I don't worry about the fat or calories , but it fills me up and the chicken is very good for an "emergency meal ". Just a thought.

things not moving....yet
pink dahlia replied to lenewind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What do you mean ? "Still not moving ?" Bowel movement ? I was told since I was on liquids there wouldn't be one for awhile. Do you mean hurting around the incicions ? Can you be more specific ? Dry heaves ? I don't know, never had them . Let us know how we can help you, I remember the 1st 3 days as the roughest, afterwards was much better. -
Miss boosh10 from ? And Miss Raenh from Texas ? I don't know where boosh10 lives, but I think I feel a road trip comin on ! We need to go and open up a can of Whoop Ass somewhere !!!! Who's with me ???

How did you know?
pink dahlia replied to Soon2beslimSamantha's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Carolm1965, all I can say is "Wow ! You are amazing ! To go through what you've been through and still be able to see a positive future ahead of you takes an incredible amount of strength in your soul. You are a great role model with a "can do !" attitude , and you should be VERY PROUD of yourself ! You go girl !!! -
Don't know if this will help or not, but I found that if I slowly cut back on certain things, it was easier on me. I was never a big soda drinker, but slowly changed from regular Coke to Diet Coke, then spaced them farther and farther in between. Now I cant remember the last time I had soda or juice either. I used to eat carbs , bread, potatoes, pasta 1-3x a day , now maybe a few bites here and there. I just cut down gradually and found that I dont miss them at all. Try it ! Good luck !

75 Pounds Down Today -- I Love My Band!
pink dahlia replied to Bandista's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Dfaulkner, I have an incredible sweet tooth too, I have something sweet every day. (MnM's are my kryptonite ! Sigh...........) I just finally gave up trying to fight it, and just limit my portion. I love WW ice cream, Yasso brand frozen yogurt bars, and anything crunchy and/or sweet. Try looking up "diabetic desserts" for healthier ideas, and while I've never tried "Stevia " sweetner in anything beside a cup of tea, ive heard it's just as sweet as sugar but better for you. Good luck ! -
How did you know?
pink dahlia replied to Soon2beslimSamantha's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I only looked at the Lap band, I was fine with the maintenance and fills, I liked the fact that I would be seeing my surgeon regularly the 1st year. Having my insides rerouted wasn't for me, so I didn't even look at anything else. Within 7 months I had lost my first 50 lbs, said "goodbye" to sleep apnea and digestive problems, and said "hello" to the 1st time at 175 lbs in 17 yrs ! Im nearly at goal, and look and feel 100 % better than I have in years . Happy and healthy, no regrets !! -
Sorry, I forgot to add that she'll probably backpedal or stand there, not being able to say anything. If she continues, ask her why she feels the need to endlessly make rude comments on someone elses medical procedure ! Would she make the comments towards someone if they had some other type of surgery ? I dont think so ! Tell her if she doesn't stop you'll report her to HR !
-
Almost anything with the the words "sugar free" is going to give her " bathroom problems, if you see the words "sorbitol, manitol (?) Etc, those are words for the fake sugars that give you diarrhea ! Be careful, as she might slip you something worse ! Since she's constantly running her mouth in front of others, call her on it in front of others ! Ask her who, what and where she got all her info on WLS.

Yummy pb2 chocolate green smoothie
pink dahlia replied to scarletwitch19's topic in Food and Nutrition
I love this smoothie too, I just usually leave out the spinach as I rarely have it . The only place I've been able to get PB2 is at Target. Where do you get yours ? -
Dont know how old your are, but unfortunately sleep patterns do change with age, especially with women. Sometimes its hormones , etc. I used to sleep like a baby every single night, then while expecting 26 years ago, ( I was 30) started waking up once a night. I could handle that, but then it got way worse ! Asleep at 10 pm, then every single night, wide awake at around 3:30 am. I'd have cocoa and crackers to help me maybe go back to sleep. Maybe. I tried everything. Now , I take Trazadone before bed, and combined with my ADD meds, sleep for 7 - 8 hrs straight. Zzzzzzzzzz

How Do You Get Over the Guilt?
pink dahlia replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Guilt for what ? Getting healthy and strong , leaving co morbidities behind ? In the past I have had Lasik surgery to correct eyesight problems, sinus surgery to correct breathing problems ( childhood broken nose ) and dental surgery to remove impacted wisdom teeth. Nobody suggested I should feel guilty or try to correct those problems by myself. Same goes for WLS, it solved a problem my body could not solve by itself. Not feeling guilty, just extremely grateful. -
I got a FitBt for Christmas, I love it ! It makes me aware of how much I really do move on an average day, if im really busy I can easily do 10, 000 steps by early afternoon, then come home and do more with yardwork. I dont keep track of my eating, I just try to eat healthy most of the time and try to get my water in ( hard for me ). Love my Fitbit !

No, I never thought that people like what I like, what I was trying to explain is that people are naturally going to be drawn to people/places/things that click with them. If you look at 2 houses, side by side and 1 is well maintained and looks nice and sturdy, and the other is not as well maintained and doesnt look as sturdy, you're more than likely to choose the 1st one. Same with store windows, the attractive merchandise in the neat and tidy window draws you in and makes you want to see/know more of whats inside. Not shallow, just natural human curiosity.
-
No, its not "fair" that others treat you different when you're slim, but you cant control how others think, unfortunately. Im sure when you picked out your favorite shirt, house , car , puppy etc you picked out the most attractive one didn't you ? That wasn't being shallow, that was going for the one that you liked best. I do think when you lose weight and start feeling good , you send out "good vibes " and radiate self confidence . Maybe thats why others are suddenly attracted to you ? Just a thought !!
