Are you constantly throwing up and sliming because of issues with the band, or is it because you really have bulimia ? Just curious, because if its really bulima, you might want to address that issue with a psychological Dr. who specializes in eating disorders before you move to the sleeve. If its the band itself, then maybe the sleeve would be better for you. As the saying goes, " they operated on my stomach, not my head ." Good luck !

Chronic Diarrhea after LapBand
pink dahlia replied to Lou Ann's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sorry you've had 4 yrs of hell, but glad that things are somewhat back to normal bathroom wise. My only thought was that I wouldnt of waited 4 years to get the problem looked at again , no matter who said what. Doctors dont know everything, if I didnt get the answers im looking for , I can always get a 2nd opinion, or 3rd if necessary. Taking care of you is #1 ! Hope all continues to go well ! Good luck ! -
Everyones different, but I can't get enough food in at 1 sitting to last me 3-4 hours, so on work days where I have a break every 2 hrs or so, I eat a little bit so I dont get overly hungry and then be cranky or eat too fast. My average work day is 6-8 am , hot tea, then a protein shake or a turkey jerky with almonds, 8am Wheat thins with PB, noon fish, chicken, beef with salad or fruit, 230 pm , more lunch, dinner same type as lunch, evening, a little treat. Doesn't sound like much, but ive never looked or felt better in my life ! I havent had a fill in over a year, im very close to goal, so im thinking this is "normal " for me. Maybe you too ??

I can't tell from your picture or story how far it was that you walked ( I'm thinking it's quite a ways !) but the fact that you did it on the heels of a busy, active trip to England says quite alot about you !!! Congratulations ! Great job !!! -

New here - exploring surgery options
pink dahlia replied to luvhermitcrabs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I got the Lap band December , 2011. I've gone from an unhealthy 225 lbs to a healthy 143 lbs, I cant believe I finally weigh what I weighed on my wedding day in 1987 ! !! I didn't want my insides rerouted, so I only looked at the Lapband. It was easier than I expected from the start until now, no regrets , not one ! It literally gave me my life back , so you might want to explore the Lapband too. Good luck !! -
1st off, sending you and your family big hugs !!! We have been through cancer many times, its not easy to deal with at any time, but especially when those that you hoped would lead you in strength failed you . Instead if stewing about it and never getting a reason or resolution, I personally would approach the 2 people and nicely inquire as to their reason s for what they did. Whatever the reasons, you'll know why, and be able to let it all go and concentrate on whats REALLY important. Your husbands health , yes, but also your own health, mentally, physically, emotionally AND spiritually. . I kind of think its a package deal right now. Just my opinion. Either way, sending you good karma, prayers and lots of love and support !!!

HUGE step for me (NSV)
pink dahlia replied to Paige Dukes's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Paige Dukes, I loved reading your post about the new picture (Wow ! You're brave !), but the part that struck me the most was "I didnt wear shorts in public and didn't even leave the house without a cardigan, regardless of the temperature. " That comment was me to a T ! I was very uncomfortable with my body, especially my belly. Always had a cardigan or lite jacket to cover it up. I didn't even like walking out to the mailbox in case a car went by. Now ? Totally. Different. Occasionally knee length shorts, capris or slim jeans, and a nice t shirt. Almost flat stomach . No cardigan needed, although I still love /wear them when necessary. I hope everything continues to go well for you, many more NSV's coming your way ! Congratulations again !! -
HUGE step for me (NSV)

NSV = Non scale victory, like when the scale doesn't move, but who cares because your pants are suddenly too loose ! Or some one notices your face is thinner ( one of my 1st NSV's) and ask you if you've lost weight, or you can do something that you could'nt do before WLS , like paint your own toes because your tummy has shrunk ! These things can keep you going when you have a stall and dont feel you're making any progress ! -
Tips From The Trenches: Six Wardrobe Mistakes Not To Make During Your Weight Loss (and I Made Them All!)
pink dahlia replied to Carin Boyer's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Dear Professor, I used to get the best deals at our local Value Village ! They had everything ! Sadly, they went out of business where I live in western Washington state. The next time you shop there, tell them to please reopen one in our area ! ( In other words , "shut up and take my money !!!) -

Am I learning to set limits? Will the lesson stay with me?
pink dahlia replied to IcanMakeit's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I liked my surgeon s rule " follow the rules 95% of the time and you'll be successful !" I liked the fact that I have a little wiggle room for treats, but its up to me how much, and when I indulge too much , obviously the scale lets me know about it. To be honest, my weight loss stopped at 160ish for well over a year, and I thought that was it. No more weight loss. Then I started on Adderal for adult ADD in early April. I have lost about 22 lbs since then because of the side effect of decreasing the appetite, but for some reason it also (combined with my Trazadone for insomnia) lets me sleep 6-8 hrs nightly. Im not exhausted all the time (heavenly sleep !) I m doing 1-3 hrs of yardwork 2-3x a week, swim 2x, Pilates 2-3x a week. Without the lapband and the Adderal, I know theres no way I could keep my appetite down ! So I dont know how thin people do it "naturally," because otherwise I would be heavy and hungry all the time. Opinions ? Thoughts ? -
Around 8am Im either sipping on a protein shake ( protein powder, PB2, 1/2 frozen banana, vitamins, almond milk , all together in a Ninja mjxer) or nibbling on almonds, breakfast biscuits and / or turkey jerky. At my 10 am break I have 4 Wheat Thins w/PB and some Swiss Miss cocoa. Im then good until lunch (healthy leftovers ).

Tips From The Trenches: Six Wardrobe Mistakes Not To Make During Your Weight Loss (and I Made Them All!)
pink dahlia replied to Carin Boyer's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Im 57 years old , gone from 225 lbs to 144 and im pretty darn sure I haven't spent $30, 000 dollars on my wardrobe in my entire life. I dont have to dress up for work ( jeans are fine) but I still look stylish, professional and pulled together every single day. People compliment me often on my nice clothes , it's always from Goodwill !!! I bought only what looked good and fit my body, and age, not because it was popular or a bargain price. I will say one book that helped me a long time ago was called "Color me beautiful" I think the author was Carole Johnson ? She saved me a fortune once I figured out what season I was ( winter) , I ve never bought the wrong colors since. Money well spent !! -
Protein bars, turkey jerky, raw unsalted almonds, walnuts, pecans and sunflower seeds. Belvita breakfast biscuits, peanut butter, Gatorade 2 and Propel. Cheese sticks, fresh fruit. I buy many of these at Costco, in larger quantities as they keep for a long time. The fruit I just buy as needed. And yes, my downfall...........WW ice cream bars or vanilla frozen yogurt.

No, I can't even begin to relate.........not even remotely. Im so sorry you have to go through this crap ! Just remember, karma is a bitch ! The only thing I can think of is to concentrate on what you CAN control, and to not worry about what you CAN'T control. ( Serenity prayer ?) In the meantime ask yourself what you can do daily to get yourself healthy, because when this mess is all over and done with, how do you want to look and feel mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritualy ? Make yourself your #1, not the situation ! Hugs !! Good luck !!

I'm 4 days post-op and still no BM - should I be concerned?
pink dahlia replied to HDBC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since you're not taking in any solid food theres no reason you would be having a bm. There is nothing solid to pass out of your body because nothing solid has gone in. You should be on liquids only, and not everybody has gas or burping , etc. If you're feeling ok with no problems, I wouldn't try to force anything, just letting your body heal is a big enough job in itself. Hope all us well otherwise ! Good luck and keep us posted !! -
my surgery is tomorrow and i'm kind of freaking out!
pink dahlia replied to mafai's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope you're feeling a little better by now, I remember my first 3 days as the most difficult . I remember it feeling like a really, really bad pulled muscle on one side, but by the 4th day I was feeling much much better ! Back to work a week after surgery with no problems. Hope yours goes as smoothly and you're feeling better soon ! Keep us posted !! -
Shellyd88, I like the way you think ! It's a "take no prisoners! " attitude that sometimes you have to adopt to help you deal with the uninformed people who feel they have a right to make snarky comments or rude opinions on medical procedure that they haven't a clue about !!!!! Scarlet witch, take notes from her ! And speaking of notes, I noticed in your profile you've lost 49 lbs ? Yes ? Congratulations ! Great job ! You should be very proud of yourself , so think of that when the idiot co worker starts running her mouth ! Good luck !!!
