    Lapband And Cancer

Welcome! You have come to the right place. The people here are wonderful and informative, and the best part is, if you have a question, they have been there, so everyone has an opinion to offer. I would like to congratulate you on what sounds to be successful treatment of your cancer, and your determination to press on and lose the weight, even though I am sure you're really tired of doctors appointments. Even though you are far from home, you can always talk to us, your lap band family
  4. When i met with my pcp and told he about getting banded, she told me, the only thing i need to know is, i can never drink alcohol again...it will ruin my liver...but my nutritionist, who is affiliated with my surgeon, has told me no alcohol for 6 months, then after thati just have to take it easy because it affects you differently. And obv its a good idea to stay away from high cal drinks. Who is right?

    So This Is Bandster Hell...

I asked my nutritionist about calories, and she said calories will not even be a factor for the first year. Listen to you body, and recognize the feeling of actual hunger. If you need to have a shake or something, then do it. You can't be under nourished, you'll go crazy!

Pcp Says No Alcohol With Lap Band?

Looks like opinions vary widely from surgeon to surgeon. Mine told me no beer, because the carbonation will stretch the pouch, but hard liquor and wine are ok.

    New Cardinal Rule!!

OmG. Reading this pre surgery probably NOT a good idea!! Tell me its worth it, please! I'm lmao at cocoabean's "burger guts" incident!!!!
  10. The Dr office called to inform me that my worst nightmare has come true...i have to redo my sleep study!!!! It was the worst experience I have had in a long time. I laid there, kept my eyes closed and tried to sleep...for hours. I think I got 2hrs at the most. I'm so dreading this, but was told my doctor doesnt operate without a diagnosis either way, apnea or no apnea...I am able to take some tylenol pm, I hope I can sleep this time.
  11. Correction: amount of testing. Lol.
  12. Did you go through any pre op clearance at all? With the amount i have been through, (see my signature) I would never take such a cavalier attitude with eating with my band. I was annoyed at first with the amount of teating, but i honestly feel like it made me want it more, and realize, this is not a joke. It's life. MY life . And I'm saving myself from and early death. You need to stop and think!

    Lap Band Surgery Tomorrow!!!

Good for you! I'm 24 and can't wait to get banded! Let us know how it goes!
  14. I'm no expert, and I'm not banded so I'm not sure exactly when your first fill should be, but I do believe you should have had a fill by now, most people visit their Dr once a month for the first year...have you been to see your surgeon?
  15. Wow, not banded yet, but can't wait until I know my band as well as you know yours, right down to telling the Dr how much you think you'd like in or out! Incredible!

    Failed My Sleep Study!!!!

Ok so my second set of results came back...inconclusive! The sleep center called to have me come on for a consultation with their Dr. I saw him today, we talked about my sleep habits, tiredness during the day, he listened to my breathing, and measured my neck. We had a nice 20 minute chat and he was extremely pleasant. Then, BOMBSHELL! He would write my Dr. a letter saying he does not believe I have sleep apnea. I told him mr surgeons office told me no sleep study, no surgery. He offered an alternative: a home sleep study!!! I'm so thrilled. Don't know why the sleep study freaked me out so much, maybe because its my last preop test and I put so much pressure on myself that I just couldn't relax. Either way, I will be contacted in a week for an appt, will go to the sleep center, have some sensors applied, and go home to sleep. Best news I have heard since my insurance approval!

Pcp Says No Alcohol With Lap Band?

When I told her I was going through with the band, she said no alcohol ever again. Then explained the liver stuff. Then said "I'm basically trying to to put the fear of God in you"....mmk.
