    Failing Home Sleep Study

Also, one suggestion I have would be to contact your pcp and ask for some prescriptions sleep meds. Mine gave me some, but I didn't end up needing them since my home study was cancelled. I did try of them to see how tjey would affect me and BOY was I tired!!!

    Failing Home Sleep Study

After two failed sleep studies (total amount slept 1.5hrs if I was lucky) I was told no sleep study, no surgery. But I met with the sleep Dr, and he had me do some breathing, take a survey, measured my neck etc. He said he woukd write my Dr a letter saying he does not believe I have sleep apnea, and I could do a home study to be sure. The home study wasn't covered by insurance so at last, my Dr has agreed to do the surgery. My problem was, i wasn't home, not.comfortable, and they tried to make me go to sleep at 9 and get up at 5 when I normally go to bed at 12-1 am and sleeeo til 8. The combined stress of knowing I had to sleep, and knowing I had only until 5 am to get some good sleep in, stressed me out and I laid there all night basically to the point where i was in tears. I know its important to find out if you have apnea before surgery, but if you have a good surgical team and an attentive anesthesia team you should be fine.
  3. Check out foodfacts.com, you can enter thr food you eat and it will come up with a health score, based on multiple factors...it will also tell you the pros and cons, and they have a phone app where you can scan a barcode and get the health score. Not something we couldnt do ourselves, but pretty cool!

    Does Anyone Use Unjury?

I recently ordered the sample packs of unjury (was told this is what I would be given in the hospital after surgery) and this is what it came with: Unflavored Protein to add to crystal light, pudding, Jello, etc chocolate spledor (mix with milk, delicious--just like chocolate milk) vanilla (mix with milk, also delicious) strawberry (mix with Water or lemonade--tried with water, hated it) chicken flavor )mis with warm water for chicken Soup flavor) I haven't seen too many people here mention it, so I was just wondering if anyone uses it? And if not, why not? Cause it tastes awesome! The price may be a deterrent to some, I suppose. 17 servings per container, $22.95 per container 180 cal 0.5 g fat 4 carbs 20g protein 3g sugar

    Does Anyone Use Unjury?

I was contemplating the cheese sauce after the rave reviews, but it has to be used within two weeks of arriving, and I have surgery coming up on Jan 30 so I won't be able to eat for a while, but ill be trying it after my surgery!
  6. I think one time or another in the process, we all take a step back and think, omG I'm not going to be able to do all the same things....but thats your fear talking. I may jot be able to eat white bread....ok, but ill look hot. So its ok. You have to learn how to tell that voice of fear to shut up, because you can easily find a million reasons why you can't eat better, exercise, etc. I'm the queen of excuses, but look where its gotten me. You will still enjoy food, but you will enjoy life more!

Rant. Emotions. Crying. Enter Post At Own Risk.

Love you all!!!! We can do this! I had to face this man today, and write an auto policy for his daughter...he came into the office and told a stupid story and we all made fun of him when he left. It felt good!
  14. I agree. I have only told my fiance, sisters, mom, dad, and grandmother, and ONE close friend. Wow. Guess I told more people than I thought. But I chose them because I can trust them, they will be encouraging and non judgmental. I definitely do NOT need to be under a microscope. It has been hard at times, to not tell the girls I work with in my office, at times I have been to so many appts they have asked me if I am ok. I have wanted to tell them when I have been having problems, or when I am feeling really excited. But then there are times when I am glad I haven't told anyone. Most of all, I think people are not informed about exactly what we have to go through, and think its the "easy way out"

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their support. It truly means so much to be knowing someone knows how I feel. I guess what upset me most, to answer you question, B-52, is--if he thought that then, when the heck would he think NOW? Another thing that bothered me is, I used to go over this girls house when both her parents were usually at work, after school on a Friday, and we would walk from her house to our high school for football games. I never ate dinner there, in fact, can't remember ever eating a morsel there. Which is why I was hurt and confused at the same time. I don't know. What I do know is that I am thankful for all of you, because for the first time, I have people to turn to that have been there. People that have struggled the way I have, felt the embarrassment, in one way or another. As a matter of fact, this brings another insurance office story to mind (how could I forget)...I work in an office with 4 other girls. My grandmother, who is 86 years old, was in the office for a visit. Everyone was telling her how great she looks for her age blah blah blah. Our financial specialist, a man, was telling my grandmother what a beautiful family she has--she said something to the effect of--yes, I have such a beautiful family, and my granddaughter has a beautiful face, BUT she's "heavy". In front of everyone, and they all went silent. The tears came. And I ran to the bathroom. Thank God I love the girls I work with. They were so supportive about the whole thing, but it really stung. I can't wait for surgery.
