December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??
Msfotobug replied to loretta\ Baconton Georgia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow... I haven't posted here in a while. I was banded back in Dec. and they had over filled me to the point I became severely dehydrated, couldn't get down more than 4oz of water a day and was having this really bad pressure over the left side of my face. Had all test run, came back normal except for dehydration so they took ALL of my fill OUT. Last month I tried to get the fill put back in but the nurse said NO since I still couldn't keep down a lot of foods, esp. meats. Well, now it's March, I've now STOP counting calories and pretty much am eating like crazy. I still can't eat a lot of different meats, but I CAN eat plenty of speghetti which I eat almost daily. I've gain 10 pounds, it almost feels like I'm back to life how it was before the band in a way.... though I still vomit breads, thick pieces of meat, like chicken breast, chicken nuggets etc - I can sure get the junk food down (potato chips) I'm worry they still won't get me a fill because I'm still having the pressure on the left side of my face, not as severe but it's still there many days. I'm STARVING all the time, nothing satisfies me. -

Wow, how in the world did your port flip? They took my fill out to because of dehydration problems so I feel ya... I can't wait to get a fill too. I feel so far behind the "Dec" group as far as loosing weight goes. Can't wait to get back on track. -

Feeling a little bit discouraged. Was banded 12/14 I think it was... 5cc's were put in making me only be able to drink 4oz of water a day, I became severely dehydrated having pressure/pain on my left side of my head, they removed ALL of my fill so I could get water in, pain finally went away once I could get more water in but here I am now... called to see if I could get a fill because I am feeling hungry more often through out the day, however the nurse said they are not going to give me a fill until I can start keeping food down. I get sick weekly, (almost daily) it doesn't make sense. I ate a chicken thigh from KFC, it went down fine - the next week I got a grilled chicken breast from KFC and I couldn't keep it down. Yesterday I took a thin sliver of lunch meat ham, it came back up. I do well with soups, green beans, mash potatoes and believe this... even spegetti (which I thought we couldn't eat, but I've tried it and that stays down) but almost everything else comes back up. I'm chewing like crazy, I'm eating slow. To not even have a fill in me, it's weird that I'm getting sick on many foods though. This is really starting to get to me and make me sad. -
Who Have You Told You Were Banded?
Msfotobug replied to nancyginnm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For me it wasn't a big secret. I'm not ashamed that I needed a "tool" to be able to help me loose weight. Sure, you have those who against it, but surprisingly I've had a few friends who are interested in it and I would have never known that if I hadn't shared my experience. -
Thanks Cheri. I'll have to ask my doctor about that!
-
I had a very negative exp. when my doctor over filled me and I became sereverly dehydrated. I don't regret getting my band, but sometimes things can go wrong. I know I would want to hear the good and bad to make a wise decision before changing my life.
-
What's a fluro? I do okay getting down Soups, chili, mash potatoes, green Beans but almost everything else comes back up as well.
-
All test for me came back NORMAL the only thing wrong was I was severely dehydrated. I've noticed now (weeks later) the pain is almost completely gone thank God!!
-
Wow Atl-Jen, someone who finally had the same problems as me... but I don't have a answer for you, every test they ran, blood, xray, cat scan - it all came back NORMAL. I'm convince it still has something to do w/ surgery but the doc didn't have a clue, says maybe it's sinus even though my sinus test came back normal too and I've never had sinus problems before. I'm thinking it's swelling pushing on a nerve or something... I've notice since my swelling as gone down the pain is not as bad so prayerfully it will go away completely once all my swelling is gone. I will keep you in pray Jen-Alt, I feel for you. Please talk to your doctor - weird 2 people having same thing happen both w/ lap band on same day at that!

Hi Brent! I truly don't believe this is sinus related. They just can't find anything else and since I live in Cincinnati they are blaming it on sinus. But I will try that and see if it helps. Thanks for posting! -
I just had a unfill after getting surgery in Dec. they haven't put anything back in yet but no I don't have any weird stomach feelings going on.

I've tried the sinus spray and sinus rinse but I'm still having the pain/pressure on the left side of my head, more so now if I lay on my left side - not as often through the day though. I still don't believe it's sinus. I still think it has something to do w/ lap band because if I tried to overeat I get the same pressure. -
Well the test results are in... my surgeon said your primary doctor had extensive testing done on you... pretty much everything under the sun, (urine, blood work, x-ray, cat scan, mamogram, sinus test, the works) and every single test came back NORMAL - the only thing they could find wrong was that I was severely dehydrated. Okay... I know what your thinking, we'll praise the Lord right? Of course I did, BUT I'm still having the pressure on the left side of my head. Guess what the doctor think it is? SINUS... can you believe it??? I said even though the sinus test came back normal, he said yes - we live in Cincinnati where most people have sinus problems (though I never had in the past) My dad agrees w/ the doctor as he has sinus problems and said yes, it's worse than a migraine and yes you can feel it behind your left eye socket into your jaw line, left side of the back of my head, severe pressure and pain. Sooooo, even though I'm not totally convinced (yet) I am going to buy the sudifed and sinus rinse the doctor told me to get over the counter and see what happens. He didn't seem too concern that I'm still not able to eat really a lot of solid foods (surgery was Dec. 14th w/ 2 hernia repairs) Liquids and mushy goes down okay but solids 90% of the time I throw back up. He said I'm still very swollen and says it's acting like a "fill" even though they took all of my fill out a week ago because I was severely dehydrated only drinking 4-6oz of liquid a day. Now I can definately get the water in and my doc seemed pleased about that. He said your where most people want to be... he said don't worry, soon enough you'll be starving and eating everything in sight (as he didn't put my fill back in yet since the swelling is acting like a fill) So I just wanted to thank you all for the many prayers you said for me. I must admit, I was beginning to get VERY worried... crazy thoughts of what "could" be wrong were going thru my mind. Hopefully it IS just sinus and I can clear it up soon. Doc did tell me I could start my daily walking of 30 mins. a day which he said would help w/ the swelling and said it would make me feel better.

Cynsae, did your doctor say WHY you were having these pains? Just curious if it was "just" gas or what.

I was banded Dec. 14, 2011 and noticed after I left the "liquid stage" and on to mush that I was having severe pain in my shoulder, left jaw and behind left eye socket like this pressure that would go from a pain 1 level to 10 in a instant. I just had xray and cat scan done yesterday and I find out my results Thursday. I did try using a heating pad, but it didn't do much help. I'll let you know what I find out - but I'd tell your doctor what's going on so they'll know your having issues! Praying for you!

December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??
Msfotobug replied to loretta\ Baconton Georgia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone. I'm happy to say they ran test on me yesterday (x-ray and cat scan) to find out what is going on with me, they don't think it has anything to do w/ the lap band but I'll know for sure Thursday when I see my doctor to get the results. I did have 2 hernia repair at the same time as the lap band surgery (Dec. 14th) very possible it could have something to do with that. Whatever it is, I'll be happy when this is behind me and I can join you all in our lap band journey. It's been a nightmare for me, weird how even with all of my fill taken out I still have restriction???? Does that even make sense??? I'm going to ask the doctor Thursday if that is because I'm still swollen even this many weeks later???? The pressure headaches over my left eye have gone done. I'm not getting them as often, but I noticed like last night when I tried to sleep on my left side, then I could feel the pressure/pain and instant nausea... so it's just weird whatever is going on. I can't wait for thursday to get here so I can have some answers!!! Thank you all for your prayers. I appreciate them!!! -

Msfotobug replied to loretta\ Baconton Georgia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you SandyB. I will definately ask them to do a xray or ultrasound. I suppose to get my fill Wed. but there is no way I'm letting them putting anymore into me til we find out what is wrong. I see my doc Thursday so I'm going to cancel the fill appt. the hospital / er did give me fluids for dehydration which made me gain 7 pounds!!!!! but right now I'm more concern about these pressure headaches and not being able to eat like the rest of you all. This was the one thing I pray wouldn't happen that I'd regret my decision to get lap band. I'm praying this will all be a quick fix so I can be happy again because this has been a long weekend being sick. -

I was banded Dec. 14 and was only able to get in 4-6oz of water until they took all my fill out a few days ago. I also had 2 hernia repair (hyena and by my belly button) I'm suppose to be on solids now but nurse told me to take it easy. I tried tuna yesterday and ended up vomiting it all up. I can't keep foods down, even 1 once - with NO fill. I'm not sure what is going on. The pressure headaches behind my left eye are not as strong unless I try to eat then it hurts really bad. They are sending me to get lab work and sinus tested Monday and after that a cat scan. I pray they figure out what is going on because this is starting to become a nightmare. When I read you all can eat 4oz of food at a time I'm just amazed. I don't even have a fill in me anymore and I can't eat that much. What is going on with me???? -
Headache when eating
Msfotobug replied to LynNBlueSprings's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just banded Dec. 14, 2011 - since was only able to get 4-6oz of liquid in in a day. Yesterday they removed all of my saline (5.5cc's) told me to get children liquid Advil for the swelling. I did have 2 hernia repair during lap band surgery. And every since "mushy" week, I too have been having killer beyound migraine type pressure headaches on the left side of my face, kind of behind my left eye. Before they removed the saline, it would happen when I'd take 2 sips of water. If I try to eat food it is incredibly painful. Yesterday, they had no idea either - saying maybe I was severely dehydrated. Nausea and the pressure headaches woke me up at 4:33am this morning. I'm now waiting for the doctor to return my call. This really concerns me. I've read if I keep vomiting it could make my lap band slip. I would hate to have to go through surgery all over again. -

Well it's 4:24am. nausea and pressure headache woke me up again. Do you think it's because maybe I'm still really dehydrated even though I was now able to get in 32oz of fluids last night before bed? I'm starting to worry now, though I know fear is nothing but of the devil I just pray they'll call my doctor in and hopefully he can explain what really is going on. I just read above that vomiting can cause the band to slip. I do not want to have any surgery all over again. I'm really scared now. -
Was only able to get 4-6oz of water in a day. Yesterday I had to pull over on the side of the express way 3x's getting sick and last night I was dry heaving from 2:30am to 4am but nothing came out. Went back to doctor's this morning, they took ALL of my saline OUT. Said I had 5 1/2 CC's in. Told me to take children liquid Advil to try and get the swelling down and see how much water I can drink now. Within the past hour I was able to drink 8 oz water and 8 oz V8 juice!!! I'm very excited about that!!! I have to call the doctor back in the morning to let them know how much water I get in tonight but this already is a better sign than before.
