3 days post op- help
ferguson23024 replied to Leena's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ginger snaps I can relate. I had severe nausea the first two days after surgery. My doctor said it was due to the swelling from surgery. But I was miserable and had buyers remorse because I was so sick. Now that the nausea is gone, I am glad I had the surgery. Just really sore but no pain. I pray that your nausea will improve soon. Ask them for a patch for nausea too. It goes behind your ear and is suppose to help. Praying for you! -
Revision from Lap Band to Gastric Bypass

I have Anthem. No problems whatsoever. I am getting nervous but so excited at the same time. Ready for a new me! -
We have the same surgery date, so congratulations to becoming a new you. Secondly, I would speak with her a explain to her about your surgery. It is best to be honest and upfront. If she then makes the choice not to be supportive, it will be her problem because your health comes first. This is no different than if you were having an issue with your gallbladder. You would take corrective matters. Obesity is a disease and this surgery is a tool to help us. I think so often WLS receives negative stigma because people fail to educate the self. I think if you talk with her, she will understand and be supportive.

First post-op appt and interesting view
ferguson23024 replied to ladykatie_'s topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am on day 6 of a two week protein diet. It is certainly difficult. Not only does it prepare your liver by shrinking it but it also prepares you mentally for the challenges you will face. I did not realize how difficult it would be to be around other people eating while you are sipping protein supplements. For those people who think we are " taking the easy way out" to lose weight, they should walk in our shoes for a day. -
Praying all goes well!

I don't know if I am more excited to hear that it will be easy to drink or that I will be able to drink with a straw.

I am glad I can help. I am new at this so my nutritionist has been a great help with helping me plan things in advance and not leave me to guess. That is why I love my doctors office because they are so detailed. I need that to be successful. I wish each of you the best of luck and if I can be of any help even if it's just for a friendly hello or prayer let me know. I feel like we are all in this struggle together.

I live in Spotsy. Dr. Maher did my band first but I had it removed in Nov. 2013 by dr. Halmi in Fairfax. I am scheduled to have bypass on July 8 with Halmi. I hope all is well on the losing side.

Bariatric Advantage and Celebrate Shakes
ferguson23024 replied to jtickle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The bariatric advantage orange cream is good. I did not care for the chocolate. The banana was okay. I too had to purchase from the doctors office for the two week preop diet. The soup is not too bad either. -

I am having a revision from a band to a bypass on July 8. I am curious also. -
I am one day five of the two week liquids and was dreading July 4th. So, I turned it into something positive by joining our church to serve police officers and firefighters meals. I am going to take my protein drinks with me. I think if my mind is off of it. I will be okay. I hope I am right. Then my surgery will be four days later on the 8th.
