LapBand Food Stages Lists Suggestions
Banterwonder replied to dylansmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my surgeon recommended at the mushies stage, yhinned oatmeal, cream of wheat. Did not clog up the band at all. Felt good to eat something close to "normal"! I guess we are in the new normal now ! -
different people, different goal weights, different docs, different days ! we are all so unique. I use "Lose It " to track and love it.They give daily, weekly and monthly summaries so you can easily see your nutrient intake. I find it particularly useful to make sure I get 60 gms protein pewr day.

1St Day Home Serioud Pain
Banterwonder replied to Sarah75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
walk, heating pad, gas-x strips, maybe some liquid pain meds, although if the pain is really from gas, the pain meds could make it worse..... I did find walking the best remedy. -
Where Do You Notice The Weight-Loss First?
Banterwonder replied to Juli Salzman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I noticed first in my face. I do notice some sagging neck skin. Lots of people recommend Mary Kay and I may try some of the anti-aging, skin tighening products. I think genetics plays a huge role...sigh..... -
Getting Banded On Sep 17
Banterwonder replied to shanc625's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
congratulations!! Stay calm, treat the next 2 weeks as a time of great anticipation, give yourself time to relax and do something you enjoy, also set aside a few minutes each day to feel..... sad, angry, afraid... and then go about your day. But, most of all plan your future ! -
I tecently discoverd(!) baby bok choy. Very delicious sauteed in a bit of olive oil and salt and pepper. Cut into small pieces and well-chewed it was delicious ! Also have been using green giant cauliflower in cheese sauce, cooked very well and the green giant carrots in a sweet sauce( forget the real name!) Also cooked very well and chewed well.

Substitue For Tylenol (Which Is Off Shelves)
Banterwonder replied to Domika03's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can buy acetomenophin(sp). that is the generic for Tylenol. -
I agree with Mis73. The "Lose It " app is fantastic !!!! Keeps track of everything. But I was especially wanting to keep track of my protein intake and for that alone, it is great !

I am 6 months post banding and some days I miss my comfort foods. Hot dogs and french fries, a big burger, cook out foods. I know now there are foods that I can tolerate in small"doses", well-chewed helps. So, on my little dinner plate I put my protein, meatloaf), some peas, maybe mashed up and some whippeded potatoes. It's a comfort meal, just the amounts are what I can now tolerate. Makes me feel better ! But, I agree that there are still moments when I am "in morning" over past foods.

Eating With Large Groups At Big Meals After Lap Band
Banterwonder replied to Lapbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
simple answers seem to be the best for me.... are you not hungry ? No, just full. is that all you are eating. yes don't you want more ___________? no I think you solved the issue of plate watchers and eating watchers by avoiding them altogether. Bravo ! -
I will not eat turkey or chicken breast. Too dry and tough to chew well enough to go down easily. I also have problems with brisket..... and did/do love brisket !!!!

Eating With Large Groups At Big Meals After Lap Band
Banterwonder replied to Lapbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One month after being banded I had my first big outing with a huge group meal at a restaurant. They served a soup course first, so that was good, I just had the broth part, not the solids. They had salad next, which I picked at. The main course was a choice and I chose chicken marsala. The chicken breast was ok, I focused on the more tender parts, very small bites and chwed well. Luckily the mushroom were plentiful in the dish and I feasted on those! They were yummy and I still cut them into small bites. I didn't drink during the meal. At dessert, I picked at the cake, moved it around my plate. To be honest, no one said a word about how I was eating ! Were all too busy talking and laughing! -
stop it cold turkey ! Carbonated colas can be very acidic as well as having a high sugar content. My surgeon said NO !

Just Got Banded On Friday (Yesterday Morning) And I'm Already Famished?? Practically Too Hungry To Function. Feel Like Crying
Banterwonder replied to Lapbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that growling right after sugery and it was LOUD sometimes ! funny ! Mine was gas as well, and moving around helped tremendously ! -
eat with your non-dominant hand ! It is very weird at first.... Also, try eating with chopsticks !
-
I just had this same experience this past week. Thought I had a sore throat as the week went on I wasn"t able to swallow whole foods, then water and other liquids. Went to sugeon and they removed 1 cc from my band and immediate relief !!!! Not sure why the band became tight, but I see that bands can be fickle sometimes !
-
got to try those noodles ! Thanks for the suggestions. I have tuna salad for lunch most days or I bring some leftover, very soft meatballs. I don"t eat chicken or turkey breast, too dry.

Not The Daughter My Mother Wished I Would Be
Banterwonder replied to newskinnygal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is hard to cut mothers or fathers out of our lives. But I would stand up to her and tell her how hurtful her comments can be.Plan for your future and gather support where you can. Maybe your surgeon has support groups that you could attend while waiting for surgery ? Or see their psychologist ? You probably have to have psych clearance before surgery antway ? -
and don"t lay down after you eat !
-
great weight loss! I am doing protein first, then fruits and vegetables , then carbohydrates( bread, pasta, rice, depending on whether my band will allow those items) if I am still hungry. This was recommended by surgeon and nutritionist. Bread and butter were my downfall foods prior to being banded. On some days now, I can handle toast, eaten slowly, well-chewed. But I have lost that desire for bread and butter !Happy about that!

Did Anyone Not Lose Until After 1St Fill?
Banterwonder replied to Mama Mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to have an "un-fill" within a week of surgery as I couldn"t get even water into my body. Lost about a pound per week. Then about 6 weeks later had my first fill and started on a better weight loss pattern. About 2 pounds per week. Much happier all around ! -
would do it again in a heartbeat !!! Lost 67 pounds in 6 months, very happy. Still learning everyday about food, how to eat well and stay healthy.
