    Still Wanna Pick At Food

O.K., i have to admit to something and am wondering if anyone else has cheated too. There is Christmas candy all over the house and at the office. Twice now I've sucked on a piece of hard candy and last night i sucked on a white chocolate ppeppermint kiss until it was all gone! I scare myself! Why am I sabotaging myself? I pray I can say no next time but I'm 11 days post op now and will be on clear liquids until Christmas day when i can begin full liquids. Am I horrible???
  4. You look FABULOUS!!!! I'm 10 days post op and can't wait to lose this weight. CONGRATS!!!!

    Women!

You know what? I can't wait for someone to approach me like those women did yo u! I hope I can remember what you said, " Do you sew your own clothes when you can go to a store? Do you walk when you can drive? Do you churn cream into butter?" You couldn't have put it in to better words! THIS IS NOT THE "EASY" WAY OUT! Would any person in their right mind choose surgery if they could fix it on their own???!!! I don't believe so! Good for you and keep on standing tall.....YOU DESERVE IT!!!
  6. OMG! YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I am post op 9 days (DOS: 12/13/11) and I would eat a cow raw!!! I want so bad to eat something! I'm on clear liquids for 14 days and just dying! I see my doc for post appt today and I'm praying to God that he lets me off two days early to allow puree foods on Christmas day. I believe that most of us that have fought weight have a food addiction. I hear from blogs on this site that the cravings and desires do get better and less frequent. Hang in there....it will all be worth it in the end when we are struttin our thin selves!

    I Was Sleeved Yesterday!

CONGRATS TO YOUR NEW LIFE! I am post op 9 days and I can tell you it really does get better every day. Now, the clear liquids part is about to drive me insane but it is all worth it! Good luck!
  8. CONGRATS! I am 9 days post op now and I can tell you that things will change day by day!. I got down water, tea and broth in the hospital and then the day after I went home it was like my tastebuds went awry! Everything was too sweet, water tasted like mud, cold made my sleevette do flips and warm made it spasm! I'm just giving you a heads up so maybe you won't be as discouraged as I was if you anticipate it possibly coming. The one thing that I found that made a HUGE difference in taste and able to actually drink was chicken broth. My girlfriend boiled a whole chicken and really spiced it up with garlic, salt and pepper and then strained it. It was delicious and really turned my health around. Just be prepared for the unexpected and you won't get scared. Good luck!

    Hope My Story Helps!

I think we all had the same feelings prior to having surgery as you did. My starting BMI was 37 which I felt was not a very large number and I've never had high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes or any life threatening problem. So, prior to surgery I had second thoughts because I thought I REALLY didn't need the operation because hell, I've lost weight on my own so many times in the past that I can just do it again. I felt like I was taking the "easy" way out. But then I would remember that yes, I could lose the weight on my own AGAIN but I will only gain it back again too and now it's even harder or practically impossible because I have Hoshimoto's which has given me Hypothyroidism. I am 8 days post op now and I can't say this strong or loud enough: IT WAS THE BEST CHOICE IN MY LIFE THAT I HAVE EVER MADE! It is not the "Easy" way out. I won't kid you. It's a surgery and there is pain but it is very minimal. You CAN'T over eat. You CAN'T pig out. You WILL lose weight!!! There is no doubt or question....you will LOSE weight and it's not easy by all means but it is now obtainable! I'm soooo glad my final decision was to go through with it and trust me, you will not regret it. I think it's normal to have hesitations but remember what the goal is and take charge of.... your life....your weight....you will NOT be disappointed!

  12. CONGRATS to a successful surgery! I'm 7days post op too as I was sleeved the same day as you,12/13/11, and chop my pills into tiny pieces too. I'm just afraid to cause any damage to sleevette. I can't wait to begin Full fluids in 7 more days!

    Stairs?

I was sleeved on Dec. 13th so I'm 7 days post op now. My bedroom is up about 25 stairs and ever since i came home from the hospital I've been going up and down them. They don't affect or hurt the stomach at all as it is different muscles that you use. The only thing I would warn you of is being careful not to fall especially since you will be feeling very weak and tired at times especially if you are still taking pain meds when you get home. Good luck to you!

    Im In A Panic! Help!

Good luck to you! I know you are excited to start your new journey as we all were and I wish you great success! I'm 6 days post op so I'm a new sleever too!
  15. Wow! My doc won't let me be on "full" liquids (yogurt, pudding, jello) until 2 weeks post op. I'm on only clear liquids for 9 more days and it's killing me! I don't drink much plain water but my doc says that any clear liquid is considered part of the 64 oz liquid requirement. Drinking liquids is mainly to keep from getting dehydrated but it also aids in flushing bad stuff from your system and aids in weightloss. For the first 2 weeks i'm only to take vit B12 sublingual and prilosec. After 2 weeks i'm to start on a multivitamin.
  16. Yes! I would love to go. I live in Belton which is about an hour away from Austin. Please let me know the schedule and i'll be there! I was sleeved on Dec. 13 th so i'm just 5days post op.
  17. I was sleeved on the 13th so I'm 5 days post op now. Everyday does get a little better. I am craving food like crazy though. I've even done the putting it in my mouth and chewing then spitting it out thing. No, that doesn't help. I just want something with substance. I guess that's how I got here in the first place. I can't handle anything cold or my stomach goes in to spasms and does flips! It's very hard to get in all my fluids but that's getting better too. I can't wait to see some weight loss to help motivate me through the hard times. Nobody ever said that this was going to be a walk in the park but geeeeez it's much more difficult than i ever dreamed it would be. Good luck to you all!!

    VSG Pre-op

Hello to all! I'll be scheduling my VSG surgery next week and am sooo excited and scared at the same time. I've done research over the past year and have finally decided to go through with the surgery. My BMI is 36 and since I had open heart surgery 5 years ago and a full hysterectomy 3 years ago I've been fighting my weight. I lose weight only to gain back more. My story is very typical. I also have Hypothyroidism, Hoshimoto's, arthritis in my hips and lower back, Fybromyalgia and osteoporosis in my neck. You could say I'm a medical mess! I'm hoping that if I lose this excess weight I will feel better physically and be able to get back in to life. I'm 5'7" and weigh 230lbs. Next Tuesday I have all my pre-op appointements. I'm very concerned about the hair loss. I see that it is common between 3-6 months but I was wondering if people with a lower BMI experience less hair loss since there isn't as drastic of a weightloss. Does anyone with a low starting BMI know? I'll keep everyone posted through this journey in my life and I wish everyone success!!!

    questioning my decision

I feel the same way you do, Ian. I am setting my VSG surgery date for this December and am beginning to wonder why. Everyone says that you have to eat right and exercise. Well, if I could do that I wouldn't be fat, in the position I'm in and needing the VSG! So I'm very worried and scared that the surgery will be a big flop for me. My only encouragement is that apparently everyone else who's had the VSG that is successful wasn't eating right or exercising either yet they seem to be doing it after the surgery. I have always been able to lose weight when I really wanted to BUT I always gain it back and more. That is what I want to stop...the yo-yo weight. I'm also very concerned about losing my hair. My BMI is 36 so I'm wondering if people with a lower BMI experience less hair loss since there won't be such a drastic drop in weight nor as much weight loss. Does anyone know? I believe Sleevie Wonderland is absolutely correct when she said after 2 months or so you will probably gain back the weight that you've lost on your own. I'm sure you are a lot like the rest of us and lose weight only to gain it back. The VSG is going to help prevent the yo-yo effect and help you maintain a slim presence long term. I wish you the best of luck through your journey. Please keep us posted as I intend to do as well.
