Hello, I had my LB surgery in November. Yesterday my LB surgeon took out my gallbladder. He told me that I probably had stones long before the surgery but eating a low calorie diet pushed the symptoms further. I will let you know if it is helpful. The surgeon used 3 of the same scars from LB surgery for my gallbladder surgery and one new one. I am much more nauseous with this surgery but not as much gas pain. I am really praying it will get better because before the surgery, eating was a chore and the back pain was not fun! I hope it works out for you!

Im not sure if it is related! I can be a rare side effect to not being able to burp. I cannot burp since the surgery. I have seen some here burp all the time. Not sure

I have been to the urgent care for this pain and they said it was an air ileus (air this is trapped in the small bowel). She put me on a clear liquid diet and to progress to mushies in 2 days. It did help some. I called the surgeon and the nurse told me to take gas x with each meal. An ileus can be very dangerous and should be taken care of quickly. Please see your doctor. I am going to call back tomorrow as soon as I went to solid foods, I can feel the air bubbles in my left upper quadrant and sometimes they are painful.

I am with zil, I cannot burp. In fact was at the urgent care yesterday thinking my gallbladder was done for and they found excess gas in my small intestines that was causing pain. I will take the gas x from now on. I would rather be like you and burp, lol!

My surgeon found a hiatal hernia also and repaired along with the lap band procedure. I did not know I had one! You will do fine!

Food Question For Sucessful Banders
psychnurse replied to Kristen1969's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Kristen for bring up this question! I have enjoyed each and everybodies input to your question! I love the diversity of the lapband experience. It just goes to show you that ANYone who is obese can benefit from this procedure. We are all made so different and live different but we gather her for one purpose! The best thing is that everyone experiences their procedure differently. I really needed all this input, I am at a stage of my procedure that there is a fork in the road. This band has done so many things for me and yet my habits, my thinking and the way I view life can make a u turn right back to where I was. It is with you guys that I can choose the right road for me! People are what makes the world go around and I thank each and everyone of you! Kristen, my input would be to embrace the procedure and guidelines to make your own road! tira -
Itchy, Swollen Lap Band Surgery Incision Areas?
psychnurse replied to Mindy!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My goodness! My incisions started itching at 1 mont post op! I have tried Cortizone, no luck. It is contact dermatitis except I cannot figure out what it is in contact with. The glue has been gone for weeks! I have tried antihistamines also, they just make me tired though. My next option is calamine lotion! My next option will be a prescription cream! -
A Newcomer To The Lap Band Scene
psychnurse replied to workinprogress0180's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome! I am 5 weeks post op and things are much better. When I was banded 11/21/11, I woke up from the anesthesia and thought "what the hell did I just do?". Things got better from there but I have had a few days where I was very weepy and depressed the first one being 3 days out like you! We have had such a close love hate relationship with our food, that doesnt go away immediately and takes time. This does go away. Just look to the board for help and encouragement. It does get better. I am actually starting to really lose and boy it feels good! Hang in there! -
Hi From Someone New! :) ~ Lap Banded 12/13/2011
psychnurse replied to rhiafaery's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Rhia, I don't post often but am a lurker! I have been bandid for 4 1/2 weeks so am pretty new myself. I have mourned food myself and am sure I am not done. Its a hard process as I have depended on food most of my life to comfort me. Your weight loss is incredible, good job! My highest weight was 260 in January. I started my journey with the doctor at 250 and weighed in at 237.5 at surgery. I am now 228.5. My goal is also 150. I also see a therapist which has helped tremendously. You can messege me any time or find me on FB, I am Tira Simonson! -
I have a question. Has anyone ever experienced a raised rash around their incision sites 4 weeks post op? I was healing quite nicely then I developed a nice rash like thing around two of the incisions and now my abdomen itches like crazy and all the incisions are surrounded with a rash. This is not an infection the surgeon said it is contact dermatitis but from what? The glue has been gone fore weeks?

Itray, I am 1 mont post op so not much experience. For me, I finally figured out that the nausea was an indicator that I NEEDED to eat. I don't know if its low blood sugar or a natural way to let me know. If I fed myself a nourishing protien shake or even cream of wheat, the nausea went away. I do believe I was just as concerned about getting everything in like the doc told me to at 10 days post op. Don't worry, just try to get it in. It seems as though I am bearly getting it all in now. Hope this helps
