I am hoping someone can explain why some people have swelling after a fill. Just trying to understand why a small amount of saline can cause swelling. I think it happened to me, But why? Thanks for any info anyone can provide.

I also did what you are doing. I had to go back in hospital the following week after surgery for dehydration. I did develop a low grade fever. Dr says that is a symtom of dehydration.

I bought the IDS protein in a vanilla cinnamon flavor. I think its better than unjury.

I am 6 days out and had a rough start getting in liguids. Got so bad Sat a dehydration fever tried to set in. Thats when I got scared and called Dr. She said childrens morin to reduce fever and switch to all clear liquids. Started drinking a lot of isopure. Fever was down in no time at all. She also asked if I had sinus drainage. Yes I did. The light bulb went on and now Im taking Clariniton D I fell so much better.

How Do You Know When It Doesn't Go Down?
wc_lady replied to becky42's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I was banded on Monday the 6th. I have been having trouble with pain ,saliva, foam. I do no more than 3 ozs. an hour of clear liquids. I feel at times that nothing is going thru the hole. I had no fill at surgery. Right now I fell that if this is what restriction is the I dont ever want any fill. Can someone reasure me thas is normal? How long should it take to get 3 ozs, of fluid thur the band? It seems it takes me at least 3 hours. I thought fluids slipped right thur. I am having a hard time getting my protein in. Thanks for any reassurance you can give me, wc_ lady. -
I had my surgery Aug, 6.I did ok expect for the nausousness in recovery room, and again later that night in the hospital room. I was released on Tues afternoon. They had to do a upper GI also to make sure everything is flowing properly. My hernia was larger than they thought, so when they fixed Doc had to pull out some of the stomach that had escaped up into the esophagus. He said that he put in a couple of stitches so that doesnt happen again. I am having no gas pains, just some pain that occurs in the middle of my back when I sip on water.I am assuming that it might be from the hernia repair. I have had a hard time getting in my liquids because of that pain. Also came home with sinus drainage. Wouldnt that also fill up a stomach that only holds a small amount? (I know a gross question.)My thoughts and prayers are with the rest of the August bandes.

I had a upper GI done as part of the testing before surgery. I suspected it was there, I have a lot of heartburn. Plus I have been on the purple pill for several years. -

Sophie248 did you have a supervised 6 month WLS history? I also have BCBS. I do suspect a hiatal hernia, mentioned it to surgeon, he will test for it before he does a band. He said my acid reflux should be cured with the band. I do hope I can get this band. I also have a over-eating problem I cant seem to control. I love this forum I have learned so much here.

I haven't checked with insurance yet. I was just going to get all info I could together and submit. I see PCP tomorrow for he's recomendation letter and files. Had surgeon consult and have a letter from him stating it would benefit my health to have the band. Had the pychco exam. I will start the 6 mo. supervised tomorrow with PCP. Hopefully everything wil fall into place. TIA
