  1. @@Reem Ashraf - which surgery did you have? I am not sure if the Books that they offer on here have the nutrition info you need. I haven't read them yet. However that might be a good place to start.
  2. Yes, I want to know too! Let us know how you are doing! Hope everything went well for you
  3. My question is: Do all medications break down and absorb after bypass? Will the effectiveness stay the same? Example: I take medication for sleep (due to many years of having insomnia from night shift work) and was curious if this medication can still be taken after bypass? I am wondering how much this will change immediately after bypass?
  4. Awesome! It will be here before you know it! It is an exciting and scary time! Stress sucks. I chew gum to help with stress. I am not sure what I will do after surgery, because we aren't allowed gum for at least 6 months. So was thinking of sugar free mints. That will be challenging. Maybe ice chips too. I even exercise with gum! Yeah, I have been saying goodbye to many of my favorites that are full of sugar and fat. I would hate to even try any of them post op for fear I would dump and then never want them ever again. Coping strategies for stress, I am thinking my husband should give me a back massage every day for 6 months haha! Yeah that sounds like a plan lol!
  5. @@auntitraci - awesome! Sounds like you are well on your way. For every thing done, you can cross off your list and it's that one step closer which is exciting! Have you checked on which Vitamins, which Protein that you will use? How long will you be taking off work? Do you have a good support system in place? I am looking for a good tasting chewable Multivitamin. I contacted Bariatric Advantage and also Celebrate Vitamins to obtain some samples to try. Bariatric Advantage will send out samples at no cost, but Celebrate charges $3.00 for sample pack ,but they give you quite a bit to sample. I hear that Pure Protein tastes good as well and they recently came out with a pumpkin pie shake! Yummy, just in time for Fall ;P
  6. Call your surgeon or the pre-op team and let them know. You may need to reschedule. Having solids before this procedure can put you at risk for complications such as aspiration, bowel obstructions etc.

How Do I Delete / Close Account

Well, another option would be to do something to get you kicked off lol. That would solve it . All kidding aside, I agree there should be an option to delete account.

    Help -Tylenol Doesn't Help Me!

I would make an appt with your primary care doctor to rule out something else going on. I use Sombra for acute pain and it is very effective for me. You can usually find it at chiropractors offices. It has menthol, capsaicin, and it has a pleasant orange scent. http://www.sombrausa.com/warm-therapy

    My fitness pal

@Soexcited- I have yet to find a step tracker app that is accurate. I have S Health on my pbone but found it is not accurate at all!. I purchased a Garmin Vivosmart and love it! It accurately tracks my steps.
  14. @spiceyfrog. - Amp? If you mean Amplify? I love that stuff! Especially the chocolate!
  15. @Niki15- a good substitute for Meloxicam is: Voltaren topical gel. I haven't taken NSAIDS since 2011, but surgeon said Ok to use the topical gel since it doesn't go through the stomach.
  16. Oh so sorry you are going through that!!! You can always try http://www.patchmd.com/MultiVitamin-Plus-Topical-Patch.html

@@Julie norton - I am sorry. My post was not meant to scare anyone. It did work for me and I lost 80 pounds, which I consider that a success! However, I did incur problems that was out of my control. I just don't want anyone else to have those problems either. Just be careful and listen to your bodies
  18. 1.Premier Protein is cheap and tastes great and is at walmart. 30 grams per bottle. They come in chocolate,.vanilla, and strawberry. Another good protein source is Optisource- they have caramel and strawberry and they are both delicious very cold or on ice. 2. Also you may want to consider Isopure protein looks like kool-aid but has 40 grams per bottle. They come in many different flavors. If you are close to a GNC, you can sample the flavors. This must be cold to drink in my opinion 3. Powerade zero, different kinds to mix with the Isopure 4. an unflavored protein that you can mix with food like unjury, or GENEPRO 5. sugar free ice pops 6. chicken , beef, vegetable broth 7. Crystal light sugar free 8. SOBE Lifewater is zero calories, and sugar free and is delicious! They carry different flavors. Apple fuji Pear is my favorite. 9. No sugar added grape, or apple juice ( will need to dilute half and half Water. 10. Fairlife fat free milk, has lots of protein and low calories. 11. Different extracts or Sugar free Torani syrups to help with flavor if modifying a shake. My brain is dead at 3am, can't think of any more right now....anyone want to add

    Need vitamin suggestions please

I agree with Arex. There currently is not one pill to address all Vitamin needs. However you do have options calcium citrate can be purchase as a chocolate delicious type supplement/treat by Celebrate Vitamins. I belie e they are called Calcet-creamy-bites.html Creamy Bites. Bariatric Advantage also sells calcium Citrate yummy bites. I have tried both brands and they are gooooood! B12 and Vit D can both be taken sublingual. Multivitamins will need to be chewable at first but later down the road you will be able to do liquids or even someone posted the other day ..Multivitamins Patches! I will post here but I personally have not checked into this with detail yet. http://www.patchmd.com/MultiVitamin-Plus-Topical-Patch.html

    Kaiser Permanente Options program

When you make appt with your primary. Always mention weight as appt reason . Then all the doc needs to do is look at your food and exercise logs and weigh you.
  22. Best wishes to all of you going for surgery today. "May the surgeon had a good night sleep last night and wasn't out partying with a hangover" haha just kidding!. But you can always check that theory by giving your surgeon a hug .....and scoping out his eyes to make sure he isn't under the influence. ...oh H-ell , just ask him to recite the alphabet backwards and if he can....then you are good to go! LOL!!!

    Surgery in two days

Good luck @Pinkgirl1234- I hope the scope goes well with no problems. Let us know how it went!
  25. I wasn't pressured. I initially wanted the sleeve, but I have been banded before and he took 45 minutes to discuss the sleeve with me and explained the risks because of my previous band. He told me that the sleeve would make my reflux and heartburn worse due to the high pressure it causes. I had been taking Zantac max strength and Prilosec both twice a day plus tums , milk and slept with 8 pillows at night for nearly 4 years so ....no thanks. I would rather not have any more heartburn or make it worse. I went back to him to discuss bypass after researching it on my own. He spent another 45 minutes talking with me about this and answered every question that I had. I have never once felt pressured. Bypass can be reversible, but if you are sleeved, your stomach is gone forever. If I hadn't had previous WLS, and if I was choosing for the first time, I would have chosen sleeve. But because of my weakened stomach from the previous band, and scar tissue, bypass is a better option, less chance for leaks and less complications for me. Research and gather as much info as you can to educate yourself. If you are new and not getting revision, go for the sleeve. But if you have had previous WLS before then consider bypass. Best of luck to you!
