Thanks for letting me know about those bars. I don't want to waste money for something that doesn't taste good.

Ok so I was at the store today and found several different high protein alternatives and was wanting to know if anyone has tried any of these pictured below? And if you have, what is your review of them?

Surgery done today!
Dream4tc replied to JacksdadShane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my days and nights are still all messed up. today is my one week post op surgeversary...ugh I'm lucky, I take ambien for sleep. Although I wasn't allowed it in the hospital, as soon as I came home I restarted it and got back on a normal schedule. I'm still annoyed abt that. I have chronic insomnia, the NP didn't warn me she was taking me off the ambien for the hospital stay. Worried abt me taking hydro and ambien together, sheesh. Been taking both within a couple of hrs of each other for yrs....sometimes it helps to take a good medical history... Anyway, looks like the OP is on her way to a fast recovery. Other than the lack of sleep I was the same way. Recovery quickly and lose those pounds! I have chronic insomnia too. It's because I worked nights for over 13 years. I take ambien, melatonin, trazadone, magnesium, and belladonna for sleep. If I dont, I can stay up for 36 or more hours. It's crazy. I hate it. It is like my brain cant shut down. I wish I could sleep like normal people. However when I was in the hospital, I was able to sleep off and on, probably due to the pain meds causing sleepiness. -
Yes thankyou. I took 3 weeks off, but you are right. I may have pushed myself too much coming right back with so many hours. I will take it easy this week. I work weekends mostly and that is where I do tons of walking, sometimes I get to work from home during the week so I don't have to walk anywhere. I started the treadmill very slowly after surgery and have worked up to about 45 minutes at a good pace, but maybe the constant walking of being up and down aggravated the area for more than what I am used to. What has been your symptoms of your body's rejection of the band? What is really crazy, is that I still have some restriction. I am getting between 1000 and 1500 calories a day which is great as I am trying to lose a few pounds before my revision. I have lost 8 since surgery and am going up and down 1 pound variation. I am sorry to hear that you had a rough time with your band, but I am glad that you feel better now. It seems as though there are more problems with the band nowadays and that surgeons are moving away from it. Thank you for you support I placed call to surgeon, just waiting to hear back.

Official November Bypass thread
Dream4tc replied to Dream4tc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
: @choosehope- I am so sorry to hear that your surgery was being pushed out due to illness. I hope that you feel better quickly so that it can be rescheduled soon! I had lap band on Nov 16th 2011, and I knew that I was going to give up Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners because of it, but I really was ok with it. Those holidays are the worst for pies, Cookies, and so many more fattening things that I didn't need. With having the restriction from the new surgery, I really didn't crave anything. My family offered to puree some turkey and gravy....hehe I wasn't that desperate. I was able to get through just fine without any temptation. I know that with my upcoming revision to bypass on November 12th, I will be fine. I think if you can get through the 2 toughest holidays that's known for eating, then you can do just about anything I still was able to sit with my family and enjoy conversation while I drank my egg nog flavored Protein shake. I helped prepare the meal, but had to have others to taste test which was fun. My family was supportive, so it was pretty easy for me. This year will be the same -
HI! I did not have the pain you are describing, but Im not surprized that you are having it. It has taken quite a while for my body to heal after having had the band removed after 3 years. It did some damage; I also think there can be some "memory" in the body that can cause discomfort. Im glad you will talk with your surgeon about it, but if you are not having a fever or other signs of infection, I wouldn't stress about it; just be sure to bring it to his attention.~hiddn Thankyou, it is just very uncomfortable when bending or sitting forward. In fact, it started after working two 10 hour days and another 8 hour day back to back, by the time I got home, I had to take a percocet to dull the pain. What you mentioned makes sense. No fever or anything else thankfully. I will give him a call tomorrow though. How long did it take for you to feel better after your band removal? Did you revise to a different surgery?

Question about protein drinks
Dream4tc replied to Sajijoma's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I love premier protein! I found this Toffee Caramel Fudge protein shake at the health food store today and am going to try it and see how it tastes. I hope it tastes as good as it sounds!!! It would be nice to have some variety. -
I have the Vivosmart and I absolutely love it

Anyone have this type of pain? It's worse when I bend over, so it is reproducible.

Official November Bypass thread
Dream4tc replied to Dream4tc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome @@Doubletruble#1 ! Glad to have you with us! When are your evals? I found out yesterday that since I will be a revision, I only have to do 3 months instead of 5. I started my supervised diet back in April so I have super exceeded what my insurance requires. Thank goodness, it is one less thing that I have to worry about. I would like to invite you to our private WLS group on facebook. I will message you with my FB ID and when you send me a friend request, I will add you to our group -
Are you getting enough protein? Usually getting your protein in will really help with hunger. 2 weeks is challenging.

You look awesome!!! Great job!!! Have you tried changing up your cardio? Changing your caloric intake a bit for a day or 2? You need to confuse your body again by doing something different, which alot of times will break stalls. You aren't done. Keep going and be patient, the weight will fall off don't worry

Uh oh what's wrong?

It's none of their business. Good for you!!! I applaud you for your mindset! I used to be hung up on numbers, but years ago I learned that weight is just a number and the most important things are how you feel and how your clothes fit, if you can tolerate more activity, being able to tie your shoes without having to come up for air, being able to shop for smaller clothes, and being able to wrap a regular sized towel around you and it fit! Those are some of the things that matter. I am sure there are hundreds of more reasons. Congratulations on your success!!! Great job I really don't understand why women want a number. I think some women are so critical of others, jealous, envious, and competitive. I am not trying to win a competition, I am just trying to be healthy.

@@Inner Surfer Girl. - I agree with you that pre existing conditions aren't an issue. However my secondary insurance is refusing to pay for anything bariatric related. How is this even possible? Granted, they have an exclusion for bariatric ,but how can they deny if it is already pre existing?

How about a pizza shake?? Haha just kidding. When you graduate to regular foods, ......There are some great low carb options for pizza. Especially the crust can be made low carb, there are several recipes on pinterest. You can use turkey sausage, chicken Canadian bacon, low fat ham, turkey pepperoni, low fat cheese, veggies, etc.. and the sauce would be best if you make it yourself without all the processed sugar that usually is in store bought sauce. Just add herbs and Italian seasoning, garlic etc. Where there is a will, there is a way. Turkey burgers are really good and high Protein. Now if you are asking if it would be ok for pizza Hut pizza or a Sonic burger, then I would say....not recommended especially one month out. There are so many healthier options as mentioned above, it just takes a bit of extra effort to not sabotage yourself.

Iron deficiency question
Dream4tc replied to Knitchic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my surgeon this question. I don't have any issues but I did ask him if I should start with a MV with iron. He said that he will check my lab levels often and add iron if needed. Women tend to have more iron deficiency anemia than men due to our monthly menses. The B vitamins are critically important after bypass -
Craving fresh fruit and veggies and healthy food? I can't wait for that to happen! That's awesome! Now only if that would have happened back in 1983, I wouldn't be overweight haha!!!

Scheduled surgery while waiting for approval?
Dream4tc replied to queencity's topic in Insurance & Financing
I called my surgeons office about the same thing. Unfortunately my office does not do that just in case the insurance doesn't approve. They can write it in my chart as my request, but they won't officially put it on the books until insurance approves. I can understand. -
Awww give your lab a hug from me!!! Dogs are truly the best friends. What an awesome story and congratulations on your success! You look fantastic!!!

How to prepare for the hospital
Dream4tc replied to chasingchloee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@toasty I can honestly say, the last hospital stay I had, I didn't even bother turning on tv. I slept off and on, and had pain control issues. I don't think you will be watching much except the inside of your eyelids, but you can. -
That seems like alot. Try half. Have you tried the Turkey sausage patties? They are really good and have more protein and low calories.
