i dont understand why a hiatal hernia is such a bad thing to your doctor? my doctor told everyone that if he sees a hiatal hernia during the banding surgery that he will fix it. it wasnt an option and it had to be done to avoid acid reflux or its worsening after banding. i know some doctors dont do that and i dont understand why not. i would get a second opinion. i dont think it has to be the end all for you, buy you may need to go under the knife again. turned out i had one and he fixed it during surgery. i have to say that was more of a sucess then my band, lol. havent had acid reflux or heartburn since. its been over a year. if only my weight loss can be as sucessfull. good luck.

i was banded in sep of 2011. I have to say im in the same boat. i went from 209 down to 183 and stayed there for a while. i started gaining again over the last 4 months and am now back up to 193. i cant go any tighter on my band then i already am. i tried, but Water wouldnt even go down. im starting to feel like i should of went with the bypass instead of the band. sucks even worse that i paid cash for the whole thing. the whole point of this surgery was so i dont have to count calories. anyone can lose massive amounts of weight counting calories, but its such a hassle. plus working 10 to 12 hours 5 to 6 days a week doesnt help. im making bad food choices. bottom line. the band doesnt exactly help you make good food choices. i never had a sweet tooth until after the surgery. i think i might go to the doctor and have the band emptied. the only good thing about my band is that i havent eaten bread in almost a year. Thats probably where all the weight loss came in. But i can do that on my own without the band. other then that, my diet has been super unhealthy. i never feel full. just uncomfortable and wanting to throw up to get rid of the feeling. maybe i have the band too tight. im so mad i went with the band instead of the bypass. end rant.

new to the forum and having a few issues. i had the surgery 6 weeks ago and ive had 2 fills so far totalling about 4.5cc. my doctor is great and will let me come in every week if i wanted to, but im not sure if another fill is the answer right now. i've lost 7 lbs before my first fill and havent lost anything since. starting wieght was 209. im currently at 202 with a target weight of 170. all of the wounds have heeled except for the port wound. i feel it when im asleep and roll over onto my stomach and the pain wakes me up like i tore something on the inside. it happens on and off every few days. i think its too shallow and its not fully healing. i have no idea. i dont snack and i dont eat late. i rarely eat more then 2 times a day plus 1 to 2 Protein drinks. but i've always been one to drink a lot of liquid during meals. massive amounts. i know drinking while eating is part of the reason why im not losing weight, but not even a pound? i stopped drinking pop and i've stuck to non carbonated juices and teas. its still liquid, i know, but im not sure if im able to stop drinking during meals. its pretty much half of all the liquid i drink during the day. any input would be appreciated...
