Pre-Op Diet Day 1- Ugh! :(
sleeveInSD replied to McSleevy :)'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you try the Unjury? I don't really like too many of the shakes out there, but I do like unjury mixed with skim milk. It tastes like chocolate milk and doesn't have a bad after taste. Hang in there! -
I'm six weeks post op as well and feel that I can eat more than I thought I would. I don't know if what you are experiencing is common, but I hope it happens to me!

Congrats!

I'm able to go shopping in my own closet since I have clothes sizes 8 up to 16!

Mixing Skim Milk With Protein At 5 Days Out?
sleeveInSD replied to Candyman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was cleared for skim milk right out of the hospital and used it to make shakes. I have no problems with milk at all and it adds 10 grams of protein, but you'll have to try it and see if your sleeve likes it. -
Highest weight: 216 Day of surgery: 205 Today: 189 Total lost: 27 since surgery : 16 Surgery April 18 I seem to be losing slowly and also feel like I can eat more than others and have no idea what size my sleeve is. I didn't even know to ask about bougie size before surgery and have not seen my surgeon yet to ask him. My two week visit was with his PA and she couldn't tell me. My six week visit will be with him, so I can ask him exactly how big my sleeve is, but I was able to eat 6 oz. of thin yogurt with no problem in my second week and today I can eat about a cup of turkey chili and a 1/2 cup of dense protein and I'm only 5 weeks out. I know we are just supposed to be giving our stats here but I'm kind of worried.

Before And 7 Weeks After Pics.
sleeveInSD replied to bigkim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! You look great! It looks like you have lost all over and also very noticeable in your neck and collar bones. The top you are wearing in your after pic is my favorite color at the moment I was sleeved April 18, so a few weeks behind you. I feel I'm losing a little slower than others, but I'll take it as long as it keeps going in the right directon. Keep up the great work! -
Luwanna, I am one of those hungry people too lol. I hear of lots of people where their hunger is gone and then the exact opposite. For me it is actual hunger, not head hunger. I am fine after I have my meal and stay full for about two hours and do not think about food at all, but as soon as my sleeve is empty I definitely get hunger pangs to where my stomach growls and that same hungry feeling I had pre-op. I am not sure why some people lose their hunger and some don't. I am almost 5 weeks post op and will definitely ask my surgeon about this when I see him next.

omg Melissa, I had to fight with myself for three days pre-op not to go to Sonic..I soo wanted a chili cheeseburger from there, but I somehow resisted and was thankful because I didn't want to go into surgery with the usual diet mentality I've always had, which was pig out today, diet tomorrow. Good for you for resisting!

Walking Is Not Helping
sleeveInSD replied to tyvette04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way, but just kept up the walking anyway and it got better little by little...it will take a few days for it to work itself out. -
It's Midnight And I'm Hungry
sleeveInSD commented on tmorgan813's blog entry in A funny thing happend while I was loosing weight
I am exactly like you tmorgan! I stay up late so I have more time to get hungry after dinner. I truly am hungry again about three hours after dinner. It is not head hunger at all...my stomach will actually growl and I will have trouble falling asleep because I really am hungry. My nutritional plan has me eating three small meals and two snacks. What works best for me, is saving that last snack for the hunger after dinner. It's never anything big and it's usually protein and I'm losing fine so far, so I will continue with my late night snack! -
~April Sleevers~

aviiva, robotic surgery is still the same surgery with the same outcome, except the surgeon is sitting at a computer screen viewing everything 3D instead of 2D and telling the robot what to do. The robotic arms are connected to all the instruments instead of the surgeons hands. My surgeon does both the robotic and standard, but says that all his patients who had the robotic surgery healed at a faster rate. -

Hello fellow April sleevers. I was sleeved April 18 and doing great. I had the robotic surgery and my surgeon said that I would feel back to normal much quicker and he didn't lie. I was pretty much doing everything I normally do 5 days post op except for heavy lifting. So far I'm down 8 pounds since day of surgery and 19 pounds since pre-op diet. I do have a problem with feeling actual hunger and hope that it will get better as I move onto soft foods. The liquids just don't stay with me. How many calories are you all able to get in at this point? I am already able to get between 600 and 700 calories no problem which scares me a little. I'm hoping that as I move onto foods it won't feel so easy to get the calories in. -
4 Days Post-Op & Still Haven't Gone "poo!"
sleeveInSD replied to Felicity549's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think since we haven't had any food in our bellies for a while, it's quite normal. I was sleeved last Wednesday and it was Sunday before that happened for me. The stool softner they sent me home with seemed to help. -
Why Am I Starving 5 Days Post Op?
sleeveInSD posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm just wondering why I'm feeling so starving! I had surgery 5 days ago 4/18 and I have had off and on hunger pains every day...not mild ones either, they are very strong. I don't feel like it's head hunger because I'm not even thinking about food or even wanting it. I am following all my instructions including taking prilosec for acid but I feel I have a constant hunger pain in my stomach. Did anyone else experience this and did it get better when you moved onto soft foods? -

After 5 Day Still In The Hospital....
sleeveInSD replied to daly contreras's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, it might just be taking a little longer for the swelling to go down. I know you must want to go home so badly but better to be at the hosp where they can monitor you closely. You will be in my prayers -
I just had surgery 5 days ago and had a low grade fever until yesterday. The doc said that because we breathe more shallow after surgery (to avoid pain) that a little fluid can build in our lungs so fever kicks in. He said to do the breathing machine thing as often as possible and walking will help our lungs. I continued to do that and the fever is gone today.
