Hello everyone, my name is Regina and I began this journey about eight months ago. Around Oct., 2011, when I was about to start yet another diet, I realized how my attitude about it was even worse than before, with feeling defeated before I even started. It was my sister who said, "hey maybe you should look into that lapband thing?", it got me thinking ( a lot) and by the next day I was making calls to see if I could get something like this covered through Tri-Care. While I was waiting for phone calls back, I began researching anything and everything about WLS and pretty quickly decided that VSG sounded more like the surgery for me. I had an appointment with my primary care doctor about a week later and then from there she referred me to Balboa naval medical center in San Diego.

My first appointment with Dr. Wisbach was Dec. 16, 2011. He gave me a list of things to be completed before I could get a surgery date. There were several tests, lab work etc. as well as nutrition classes and support groups to attend. At first I felt overwhelmed with all the things that needed to be done, but I actually got through them fairly quickly and I now feel very prepared for the surgery. I will have surgery on April 18, 2012...that is two weeks from today! Yay!
