    Sleeve to Bypass

Long story short, at my heaviest in 2012 I was nearly 600 lbs. Came down to 561 during preop diet and was sleeved in December of 2012. Dropped to 365 and have hit a very bad plateau for almost two years now. I bike about 15 miles every week, am very active, and try my best to watch my diet. Recently had an upper GI to see if my sleeve has stretched which it has not. I now have approval from Kaiser to convert my sleeve to a bypass and am currently enrolled in their mandatory 12 week Options program. Anyone have any input/experience with going from a sleeve to a bypass? What can I expect in terms of recovery? Is the gas pain just as bad/worst? What about dumping? I am pretty tall at 6"2 and would really like to get down to about 250.

    December 5th Surgery Date

THank you soo much - I wish you nothing but the best with your Surgery also, and come December 5th I will remember that there is another fellow board member in it with me.... Good Luck and Thank you
  5. Hello Everyone, this is my first post in this forum/website. After years of one thing or another I finally have my surgery date for a gastric sleeve, December 5th is my magic day. I am having the surgery done in Tijuana Mexico with Dr. Almanza, only a 3 hr drive for me. I am so excited but nervous at the same time as I hate hospitals and have never been admitted to one for any type of procedure. I am 28 and have struggled with weight all my life, it never really hit me hard until I climbed over 540 lbs, then everything took a turn for the worst with my health. My sleep apnea got worst, my feet are swollen and hurt everyday, I have diffuculty walking even short distances and standing up for long periods of time, intimacy with my girlfriend is now almost impossible. And even the things I enjoyed doing seem like an endeavor to accomplish, like dancing and playing softball and basketball. Any tips or advice from other members? I have also heard that with a lot of weight loss some people can get shorter, is this true? I am 6'2 and I love being tall, what about shoe size? Does it go down with a lot of weight loss?
