    VSG surgery in news

I love that this surgery is getting more and more attention in the media. I think it will help a lot of people see they have options to better their health and their quality of life.
  3. Ericka, i dont have an answer for you but wanted to say we are neighbors, i live in huntington beach. Its nice to meet you! Good luck on everything.

    401K hardship withdrawl?

You might be able to get your surgeon to prepare an itemized list of expected costs that you can give to your plan administrator. One of the girls at my work had to take a hardship withdrawl for dental work, and just got an itemized list from the dental office and sent it to the plan, and they approved it, and gave her the money.

What to tell your young kids

Thanks everyone! This all really helps. I think i'm going to tell her the day before surgery too, and although I am sure she wont be able to help herself telling someone at school that mommie's having surgery to lose weight, I think after the surgery its much easier to explain to people what i've had done, and they are probably less likely to flood you with their negative comments or horror stories of 'someone they know who had it with a bad outcome,' since it will already be done, and they can see i lived through it, lol.
  6. Trust me, boobs are the first thing to shrink unfortunately (unless for some reason you're the lucky one in a million). I lost 75lbs before i got pregnant (then of course gained it all plus some back), and i couldnt believe how much they shrank, lol.
  7. Your definitely not being selfish...just think of how much better a healthier you will be for your entire family. Congrats on making this life-changing decision, good luck with your surgery, i'll be sleeved in December too!
  8. I dont have any advice because I havent been sleeved yet, but good luck with your trip, and congrats!

    How do I tell people?

Great thread! I have told my boyfriend and two best friends, and two co-workers (both of whom have had WLS), and everyone has been sooooo supportive. One of my friends was like i never even though of you as fat (um, ya sure, lol). I told my boss as well, and was nervious, but 2 other girls in the office have had it done, and i knew he'd understand. I did lie a little and told him i found out i was pre-diabetic (which im not) and that was my major decision on why i should do the surgery, but hey, if i keep going at the rate im going, im sure to have health complications soon. I tried to bring it up to my mom (who's tiny), and she was like you dont need that, thats too drastic, you just need to try this diet im on. Im not going to tell her till after the surgery now, i know she'll be happy cuz she can stop worrying about me being unhealthy. Im not telling my stuck up perfect sister right now either, lol. Waiting till after for that. A good way to bring it up to someone is tell them you have something to tell them, and you dont want their negative comments, YOU ONLY WANT THEIR SUPPORT, and you'll be happy to answer any questions they have about the surgery, but they need to bite their tongues if they dont have anything nice to say.

    Losing touch

I feel like im getting depressed too, i just keep telling myself its not that, its just that i cant wait to start my new life. Patience is not for me, lol. I try and stop counting down the days, but every time i wake up im so excited another useless day has passed which makes me one more day closer to surgery. I hate getting dressed too, i just want this old me GONE for GOOD. Im miserable with myself, and i too feel like im just going through the motions every day. Good luck, our time will be here soon!

    Losing touch

I havent had surgery yet, but I feel the EXACT same way. I feel like im in a fog waiting for my surgery date (36 days), and not focusing on any relationships with friends (including my boyfriend, who decided this past Monday he wanted a "break" from us because I've been a b***h lately, which is probably true, lol). I've joined 3 WLS forums, and from the time i get to work until about noon im litterally glued to them. So bad. I dont wanna work, i dont wanna do anything, i just want my surgery date to be here!
  15. Im still waiting for surgery, but here's my timeline so far... Thinking about WLS since August 2010; Called for an appointment October 12, 2011; Went for orientation, consult with surgeon, had blood drawn, psych eval, received pre-approval from insurance & scheduled surgery on October 19, 2011; Had ultrasound October 20, 2011; Pre-op appt schedule for November 17, 2011; and Surgery scheduled for December 9, 2011. Now im just counting down the days! Ive joined 3 separate forums for WLS and am addicted to them! I want surgery now!
  16. OMG i had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand on September 12th, and i have my left hand scheduled for November 21st, and then WLS on December 9th. I was a little worried about having that many surgeries so close together, but now im not! Thanks!

    Dec 6th

My surgery is December 9th, and im so excited for all of us!
  18. I love these forums because I just keep reading stories of people who are JUST LIKE ME. My surgery is scheduled December 9th, and I too have been eating out of control because I wont be able to after the surgery, why not do it now right? But like you I cant fit into most of my clothes and refuse to buy new till I lose weight. My boyfriend of 5.5 years also says hes supportive, but when I tried to talk to him about my insecurities (because I feel horrible about myself right now), he told me I cant love someone else if i dont love myself, and i need to work on my issues first, so now we're on a break. I am livid at him for not being there when i need him, and im not sure if he is supportive of my decision to have surgery anymore. My mom is also not supportive at all (she is also tiny). Luckily i have great friends and co-workers who are very supportive, and no matter what i am going through with this surgery for ME, nobody else, and thats what you need to focus on. I am so anxious for my date to get here, i swear ive been counting down and its making it go slower, grrr! Well good luck with everything, and thank you for sharing!
  19. Thanks for your post, I am having surgery with Dr. Braverman on December 9th, and its nice to hear good things about your surgeon before surgery!
