Kathy, please dont get down on yourself, we all have setbacks on this journey. I too gained 7 pounds in the months waiting for surgery. I am doing the 2 week pre-op diet and am having a hard time, but i have good support, and have been doing my best. Congrats on being approved, and just take it one day at a time! You'll do better tomorrow! Sara

Hi Cooper, our stories sound very similar, lol. I too am 5'7 and at my highest weight ever of 267. About 9 years ago i lost 75 lbs and was 170 and loved it, so thats my goal (although i'd be happy just below 200). I too have become severely depressed because I absolutely hate that my weight has gotten this out of control. And I am counting down my days, i spend hours on this site, because it helps so much, and i know its just a matter of a few months that we are all going to be some HOT GUYS AND GALS! Good luck to you!

Great idea on picking a name 2bfit! I think "Diva" sorta discriminates against the boys (if we have any in this forum yet, lol). They could always be the December Dudes. I think we should have a tag line too, like something having to do with end of the year, like out with the old, in with the skinny, or resolution keepers, or something like that. Any suggestions (since I'm not much good at this, lol). We are all making this decision that will change our lives forever. Cheers to 2012 and beyond!

New!!! BMI 39.6 are you kidding me?
babigrl111 replied to copchick187's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Its probably too late for you now, but i know someone who slightly slouched when they measured how tall she was so she would meet the BMI requirements, lol. -
So sorry to hear about what a hard year you've had. I'm glad you're doing something great for yourself by having this surgery. And the whole selling your sole to become a lawyer thing just isnt true...I work in a law office and no matter what people think (and joke) about lawyers, I believe there are just as many great ones out there as there are slimey ones, and I bet you're one of the great ones

I Have A Leak In My Gastric Sleeve!
babigrl111 replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
OMG that is quite an ordeal you're going through! Prayers and best wishes for a quick recovery! Hang in there! -
Ok so i was really sweating it there for a while, my insurance company was giving my doctor's office the run-around for weeks with regard to the approval for my surgery date. But i just found out THAT MY INSURANCE COMPANY FINALLY APPROVED MY DATE, I WILL BE SLEEVED ON DECEMBER 9TH! I am so excited, such a big weight has been lifted, and I start my pre-op diet in a week, and my surgery date is only three weeks from today! Yay yay yay! :smilingface (52):

Awaiting.....
babigrl111 replied to EnjoyingWhoIAmBecoming's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
*Crossing fingers* for you! Just make sure and follow up with either your insurance or the surgeon's office, because I've been having a horrible time with my insurance company, and my surgery is scheduled 3 weeks from tomorrow, and i'm still waiting on approval. -
Patience is NOT my strong suit either, never has been (with the exception of shopping, i could look through those racks for hours). I CANT WAIT either, Ive been counting down the days (24 left) and want it here NOW too. The only thing getting me through the waiting is that I have carpal tunnel surgery on my left wrist on Nov 21st, and have the week off, and any time off work goes SUPER FAST, so wls will be here before i know it. I'm really glad to see all these DECEMBER SLEEVERS, I cant wait till we're all on the losers bench! I definitely want to follow everyone's stories and experiences through this journey. I am so thankful for this site, I feel like I have made some life-long friends already, and cant wait to talk to more of you! Is anyone doing a Youtube video?

Pre Op Diet and Fatty Liver
babigrl111 replied to Liliana Arleen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As far as i know they have to go around the liver to do the surgery, and if its too big it gets in the way. The liquid pre-op diet is supposed to help shrink the liver so they can work around it. Some surgeons dont even require their patients do the pre-op diet, so i dont know how big of a deal it is if your liver is still larger during surgery. You should probably ask your surgeon's office to make sure it wont affect your surgery. -
I'm required to do a two-week pre-op diet, and i start the day after thanksgiving too. I've purchased protein powder and have been trying to do 2 shakes a day, and have been doing that, but im not doing so good on curbing my eating. But i guess thats why i need surgery, to give me the tool to help me learn to eat better, while it helps me control my eating.

How great that must feel! Congrats, good job, and keep it up!
-
HOLY MOLY, not only do we have the same surgery date, we have the same doctor!
-
And I am so looking forward to actually keeping one of my new years resolutions this time! To get healthy and lose weight...and KEEP it off!

I am waiting till after the surgery to tell my family. I have lots of friends, co-workers and my boyfriend supporting me, i dont need any of their negative comments. I've tried to bring it up to my mom, and she was like "thats way to drastic!" So for me, once i've had it done, i plan on telling everyone, because there's nothing they can do about it, and any horror stories they have are useless if we are still alive and kickin (and lookin better than ever!). My boyfriend's parents know because his step-mom had the bypass a while back. But by all means, its your choice to tell or not to tell, and if you dont feel comfortable, i think a recent bout of the stomach flu or food poisening would make a good excuse to get through the holidays.

Entire Wardrobe Must Go- 14, 16, 18, 20, XL, 1X. Over 200 pieces.
babigrl111 replied to Kim Lap Band Talk's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would try and sell them on craigslist or ebay, or even a yard sale. A few bucks for each piece could result in a lot of shopping money for you to be able to buy some clothes that fit. -
Star we are so close! I live in Huntington Beach, CA, and actually delivered my daughter at Orange Coast Memorial, its a very nice hospital!

Great question ChunkyandFluffy! Im at my highest weight ever right now at 260lbs. I wear size 20/22 pants, and usually 2X shirts. Im very pear shaped, and cant wait to get rid of my big ol hips and thunder thighs! I picked my goal weight because about 9 years ago i was 175, and i was super happy at that weight. According to the charts the doc has, being 5'7 i should weigh 166, and who knows, maybe i'll decide a different goal weight when i get closer. I would be so greatful to be under 200, so anything more would be fabulous!

I think a lot of us on here dont feel like going anywhere anymore, dont feel like dressing up, and are thinking "whats the use." I've been feeling like that a lot lately. But you have already made the biggest decision to get healthy and be the best you you can be! Unfortunately the hard part is sitting here and waiting for surgery to get here. Just try and keep your head up, and vent on here any time you need to, it really helps!

Congrats on getting a date!

Teri i am totally struggling with the waiting, i just want surgery already! For me its been the hardest part. The decision to have the surgery was easy for me to make. I've had my surgery date since October 19th (51 days away) and I feel like time is going in slow motion. I try not to think about it or count down, in hopes of making it go quicker, but i just cant help myself. I find myself waking up thinking okay, 30 more days to go... I too feel as if im getting depressed, all i can think about is how much i cant stand the way i look and feel, i hate getting up in the morning knowing i have to find something thats going to actually fit me and look halfway decent for work. I also cant get any work done while at work because I'm always on this site, learning more every day reading everyone's success stories, and I want it to be me telling my storey already! My boyfriend even decided we needed a "break" for now, because I am just to miserable to be around (which im sure is true). I feel like my head is in the clouds, all i wish for all day is for the day to be over so i can be one day closer.
-
Yay for all of us! I am so glad to have people to talk to on this site that are in the exact same boat as me, especially with all of our surgeries so close together! So how are you all feeling...nervous? scared? excited? deathly afraid? Lol, I am totally stoked, and cant wait. I dont seem to be nervous at ALL, but I'm sure that will come the closer surgery gets. I've had several surgeries before, and have no problems with anesthesia, but the thought of the pain afterwards does scare me a little. Otherwise I am SO READY FOR THIS life change! 30 more days till I'm on the losers bench, woo hoo!

So I've told some friends and co-workers about my upcoming surgery but what about young kids? I have a 7 year old daughter, and I'm not worried that she would be scared about me going through the actual surgery (since I've had carpal tunnel surgery already this year). I just wanted to see if anyone else had a situation where they had to tell their little kids, and what you ended up telling them.
