My story is like many other's. I have always had an issue with my weight. Starting at age 15 is when I really started noticing it. I have tried many many diets without lasting results and now, because of my weight, I have wealth problems. I had been told I would stroke out before I'm 40 if things didn't change. I started looking into the lapband almost 2yrs ago but it wasn't until my husband seemed to back me up on it that I looked into it seriously. I started with my informational session in January 2011 and even then the doctors didn't think I qualified for the surgery. Once I had my initial appointment and gave all my information, they agreed this was an option that would be good for me. I was set. I knew I would be successful at this. I knew I was ready. Everything the dr wanted me to do as far as the pretest went I did within a week. I wanted this surgery and I was ready. But the planned surgery date kept getting post poned. I was becoming angry. Even though I knew I was ready, the dr didn't think I was. I was starting to lash out until finally I gave up. I talked to my shrink about it and about other things going on. Then a month and a half ago I get called back for a visit. At that visit my dr mentioned how much calmer I was and asked what had changed. We talked for a while and by then end of the visit he felt I was ready for my new journey. This just shows how your dr does indeed know what's best for you. So we scheduled my scheduled my surgery and here I am. My first week post op. The start of a journey to a healthier lifestyle to a healthier me.
