Congrats, and welcome to the loser's bench! Blessings and wishing you a speedy recovery!
  2. I happened to see that on the news just last night. Makes me wonder about the promotion I just recently got. I hope when im at goal its noticed with a raise, lol! But on a serious note, it saddens me that people are judged by their weight and not merit.

Here we all are! Introduce yourself!

Good luck favoredone! May you be blessed and may you have a speedy recovery. Wishing you health and happiness.
  4. Wow I'm so sorry. I know you are probably hurting. But please realize that there is someone out there that will love and respect you. You took a stand and got sleeved, something to take better care of you. By the sounds of it, your husband wanted to only focus on him. I couldn't believe how selfish his actions were when you came home. He should have been making you broth and looking after you. You deserve better. I agree that this is your chance now to start completely new. He did you a favor! Take a deep breath and be strong. There is a reason this happened. You just wait and see. Happiness is the best revenge. I wish you happiness. Take care.
  5. I've had severe reflux for at least 10 years. Even when I had my upper gi they noticed it quickly. However, that was never an issue that my surgeon addressed. I asked my surgeon about my reflux after my sleeve, to which she advised would be rough at first, then eventually subside. I'm close to two weeks post op and still on my reflux meds. I have not experienced any problems with my reflux at all. It's still early on, but I'm confidant that I will be ok. During pre op times, sometimes I would experience severe reflux even on my meds. Alot if times reflux comes from diet too. I would experience it more with greasy, fried foods and soda, which I am staying away from. So I feel like my sleeve has even helped me from reflux. Are you set on having this surgeon or would you consider a second opinion? I'm no dr, but I've just heard such positive things about the sleeve. I know I'm very happy.
  6. Ive had severe reflux for at least 10 years, and can not go with out my medicine. Even with my medicine at times I would still feel bad. Ive been sleeved now for close to two weeks, and although it's still early on, I haven't felt any worse than before as far as reflux goes. I am still taking a PPI. I had asked my surgeon who said that it would be worse at first, then eventually get better, but for now, no complaints.

    December sleevers!

You just keep on trucking, LoserMama!! You're already losing and doing great! Sometimes our relatives don't mean to be unsupportive, in a weird way it might be their way of showing love. But I get it, I know what you mean. My mom has been my biggest cheerleader, but sometimes she says things I have to let roll down my back. And its not her being unsupportive, it's just that she simply does not know about living overweight, and not that informed about wls like we are. You just wait until your family sees all your progress post op. I bet they will be overjoyed to see how happy you are. Sounds like you are more than ready! Good luck and blessings to you!

Here we all are! Introduce yourself!

Hi, my name is Liz, im 32, married, with three kids. I work in a hospital as a health care rep. I see people all day long that have terminal conditons or alot of the conditions that we all have that lead to long term disability. Ive always been in denial about my size. Since my hubby was happy and never said anything (ive gained 100 pounds in the 10 years we've been together) I was happy to not change. Although, I will say that my weight really affected my personal life. Recently I had stopped wanting to go to social gatherings with friends because clothes started to be a matter of what fit instead if what I thought was cute. I hated taking pictures. I started seeing the patient struggles at work due to diabetes and chf and saw women my age struggling and decided that would not be me. I decided to pursue wls in January, my secret personal New Year's resolution. This is the first year Ive ever kept one! I was sleeved on Dec 2nd here in Dallas, Tx. I started my pre-op diet a week prior and so far since my pre-op diet Ive lost 20 pounds as of today! Im proud of myself because I generally always put everybody else first (kids, hubby, work), but I feel like I took a stand to health and happiness for myself. I am of course nervous because its uncomfortable even sipping too much, so I have worries about accidentally hurting myself, but im up for this challenge and ready to heal. I only told my parents, sister, and hubby about my sleeve, only because this is so personal to me and sometimes I see that people who have a lack of knowledge sometimes have a lack of tact! I am glad to have found this site and do like sharing my story and enjoy reading about everyone else's. Thanks for this topic!!

    December sleevers!

Thank you so much for the support, babigrl111,LoserMama, and Deigh! I'm feeling better by day. I love that I can share this with you guys and that soon we will all share our experiences! Also, I cant wait to start posting progress pics! But I'm jumping the gun a little, lol. Deigh, please don't feel like freaking out is not normal! Im an anxious person by nature, so I was a ball of worries! I was really scared, kissing my kids and saying I love u (excessivly)! My hubby was there and my dad cane in right before and prayed with me. We all went through alot to make such a decicion to change iur lives, I promise you, the anticipation is the worst, but once you see the OR, it seems like a snap and then you are in the recovery room. This was my first surgery, even after three kids. I was terrified. But, I tell you, I would jump to do it again! You'll do great, so try to relax as much as you can

    December sleevers!

I am getting so excited! I'm on day 3 of my pre op diet, so far so good. Not as hard as I expected, though ive been off due to the holidays. On the first day, we visited my in laws, and my sister in law made this huge meal and mother in law made homemade candy. They don't know I will be getting sleeved. I told them I'm trying a new liquid diet and they really tried to make me eat, even saying they were offended. My mother in law asked why I would even start a diet around Christmas. I was strong and did not give in! I'm proud to take the initiative to change my life, but I don't plan on telling anyone that I don't feel will be truly supportive. Now the real test is making it through work!! My coworkers think I'm having hernia surgery. Im just hoping Friday comes fast!!

Hi Melissa, I have cigna. They require a 6 mo diet with a dr, amongst a few other dr/pysch/nut evals. Paperwork was submitted to cigna on mon, oct 17, & I was notified mon oct 24th of approval. 5 business days, one week! They were ready to schedule for nov, but dec was better for my work. Not to mention all pre op testing, ive had two sleep studies, and have a stress test, endoscopy, labs, and consult to still attend before! But itl be worth it. I wish you luck and speedy approval!!
  20. Thanks, I'm excited, but a bit of a ball of nerves!! Good luck on your speedy approval, I'm sure all will work out in your favor.
