Any Otc Meds To Avoid? Sick, Please Help :(
Newgirlie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would've called my dr office, but didn't feel this bad earlier. I'm about 5 weeks post op, and feeling like I'm coming down with a cold. My head is killing me and I'm all stuffed up. I would like to take something, but I can't remember if there were any meds to avoid. Can anyone tell me what not to take? Please! -
That happened to me too. It will get better within a few weeks. Our tummies have to slowly get used to our intake, plus they are still healing.

Any Otc Meds To Avoid? Sick, Please Help :(
Newgirlie replied to Newgirlie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, LGoz, I didn't even think about vicks! I feel so bad I didn't want to leave the house once I got home, so I was trying to take something I already have. I only have ibuprofen. I was even contemplating leftover pain meds, but didnt want to wake up late for work. That stuff knocks me out. I'm almost positive I have vicks. I will use that for tonight until tomorrow when I get some tylenol/cough syrup. Off to search my cabinets! -

Get back to happy dancing!! You were happy with 154 before the word "getting" surfaced. She probably didn't mean it the way it sounded. 154!!!!! You should be proud of yourself!!. I would (and will) act like a crazy fool at 154!! I would buy the little dress too! Don't let one little word ruin your happiness over your progress! You GOT there -

Worst Foods You Can Eat With The Gastric Sleeve
Newgirlie replied to shannonbcaldwell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yummmm!!!! Thanks for the pasta substitution suggestion, DebiC! I looove lasagna AND zucchini, I am definitly going to try that! -
I'm four weeks out and just starting to cook again this week as I'm able to eat soft meats and mushies. I'm a young hispanic woman that prides myself on preparing traditional dinners and eating as a family every night. While I do not dictate to my hubby and kids what to eat, (they are not overweight) I do want to incorporate healthier cooking for them as well. Yesterday I made myself (on my new george foreman grill that I love!) a tilapia filet and grilled zucchini. Omg yumm!! I was only able to eat half of the filet and a few pieces of zucchini, but I was full and feeling good. I made my family some grilled sausage and rice. Tonight I made myself a mini meatloaf with italian greenbeans. Only ate a third of the meatloaf and about eight greenbeans, but boy, happy tummy!! My family ate picadillo with sopa only I threw in loads of chopped veggies that they didn't notice, but ate up! I'm just loving that this is so "do-able" if that's a word!! I went from eating tortillas every night to eating new healthier foods that are so easy to prepare and taste so good. Yay!

Don't worry, what you are feeling is completely normal! Im three weeks post op and went through the same thing even though I had wanted to be sleeved. Its almost like our minds go through a fear of the unknown. It gets better. Keep on trucking, I promise after everything is said and done, you'll feel much better. Take care and good luck. -

Welcome chica, I'm also a Latina and know that our culture has yummy but fattening food!! Im three weeks post op and like you only shared this experience with my family. I just feel that this is a personal choice for me and honestly don't care to share with co workers who truly don't care about me. Im just another gossip topic to them! I love this website, very informative and supportive! I wish you luck with your journey and welcome! -
My Family Freeked Out When I Told Them I'm Getting Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Newgirlie replied to Candyman's topic in The Guys’ Room
Im sorry to hear that your family doesn't understand your reasoning. But the easy way out would be to continue to do nothing about your health! I work in a hospital helping patients file for disability which is a huge reason I elected surgery. Sure, your family is concerned for you, but explain to them how this is a step into taking control of your health to be around longer! Many of the people I see at work are normal, everyday working people that started out with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes and then it spirals out of control and they suffer a stroke, heart attack, or worse. Its sad. They suffer alot and many times can not return to their jobs or even live withour assistance. And it doesn't only affect the elderly, often times it is young people as well. Im very passionate about this because of my work. I used to not care about my health until I saw the downside of not taking care of one's self. Please talk with your family. I wish you the best. -
