My success pics/mini story
Chrissy-Chris replied to princessheather's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great story! I haven't been on in a long time either and this was a great story to start with. I can understand the loose skin. At least when I was 70 lbs heavier I had nice boobs! I have flabby arms and the inside of my thighs remind me of the saggy, baggy, elephant! However, I feel so much better and like you look pretty darn good in clothes! Congratulations on your success! -

Protein shakes - Hard to choose
Chrissy-Chris replied to greatlyblessmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also use Premier ready to drink shakes and I get them at Costco and Sam's. I also use Jay Robb powdered protein mix. I get that at Kroger. They sell several flavors including chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and orangesicle (which tasted like a pushpop), all of which are a whey protein isolate. Like Sojourner said, a whey protein isolate drink is like getting a full meal deal. It gives you all of your amino acids, lots of vitamins, and is really great for bariatric patients. I use almond milk instead of ff milk. I use Almond Breeze - 60 calories. I also use frozen fruit instead of ice. There is all kinds out there, and basically you just have to find one that works for you. Best wishes. -

Besides weight loss, what has been the biggest benefit since getting surgery?
Chrissy-Chris replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love when I fly I don't feel like my thighs are pushing on the seat handles or the person in the seat next to me. The flight is more comfortable and the seatbelt is has to be tightened instead of barely fitting. We fly quite a bit and that was always a worry for me if there was somebody other than my children or my husband sitting next to me! My energy level has increased tremendously and I just feel so much better and not always so tired. Life is good. -

I understand, like everybody else on this forum, how you feel about being afraid that this isn't going to work, or that you are failing. I am a teacher and 2 weeks ago it was Teacher Appreciation at school. Everyday parents brought in food for the teachers. There was breakfast one day, then Death by Chocolate, Sweet and Salty, Chips and Dips, and then Finger Food Day. Even though I told myself that I was going to do great and not go overboard, I not only went overboard but dove straight in with bells on. I was full everyday and miserable. Would say I would do better the next day and didn't. My doctors office offers support group every Tuesdayand I am there for most meetings. So, when I went this past Tuesday and it was my turn to talk I just started bawling. Told them all that I had eaten. But the scariest part for me in all of this was that not only did I eat it, but that I could eat it. I was surprised how much I could eat and not get sick. I did feel quite full, but didn't have anything come back up. That was what was scary. So, after everybody gave me affirmations of telling me that they had all been through this, and made me feel quite better, the psychiatrist who helps during the meetings said "Ok Christina, you have owned it and now it is time to get back on track". Once I told everybody there how I was feeling I felt so much better and got right back on track on Wednesday. So my prayer for you is that now that you have told all of us how you feel, you have owned up to your feelings and can get back on track. I know you know that you are not alone on this journey and we are all here to help. Best wishes to you.

Congratulations on your weight loss. You look fabulous. I wish I knew what 10 kgs is compared to pounds in the US - but whatever - you should be proud of yourself because you look good! -

January 2013 Bandsters!
Chrissy-Chris replied to Mimi1980's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Starting weight: 286 Current weight: 258 Banded 1/23/13 Weightloss: 38 pounds I have been doing really well, some weeks go better than others. I find that some weeks I can lose 3 lbs and the next nothing at all. Haven't figured that out yet. I went for my 3rd fill yesterday afternoon and am a little concerned it might be to much. I have felt like some of the liquids I have had today stuck around a little to long in my throat. I guess I will know better when I can have mushy food tomorrow. I hope I don't have to go get an unfill. Glad to know everybody is sticking with it and doing well. -
