Out of curiosity, where did you come up with this formula? I did the math and it seemed to work out for me as far as colories. I just have never seen this before. -

When did your toughest weight loss plateau occur?
Chrissy-Chris replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am in my plateau right now. I have only been banded for 2 months. I did really well the 1st month with a 27 lb lost, and in the last month have only lost 1 lb. However, I am trying not to feel to discouraged. I know everybody is going to hit a plateau at sometime, and probably more than once on their weight loss journey. I just look at it as being part of the deal. -
I need some advice...
Chrissy-Chris replied to kileybug34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We have all been there. I am still there!! My surgery was Jan. 23rd and I did really well. In the first month I lost 27 lbs and was stuck there for almost a month. Then last week I lost 1lb and am now at 28lbs. I have tried really hard not to be frustrated and know that this is all part of it. However, my clothes are totally hanging on me, especially my pants. I need some new clothes but would like to wait a little longer and see if I can lose 10 more lbs. before I go shopping. We will see. Just remember when you are feeling frustrated or confused by what your body is doing - get on this site and share it. This is an amazing site with lots of good people with good information. Be Blessed! -

Meant to say "our" failures in that second sentence.

Terry, really glad I looked back on some of the blogs of the past week and saw this one. It is so true on how it is so easy for us to look at your failures and not at our victories. I was thinking about the markers you talked about and was reminded of a Biggest Loser episode from several years ago. The contestants had been competing for several weeks and the show took them out to a football field and had all of these bags on the field. In each bag was some sort of product that weighed as much as that particular contestant had lost in the previous weeks. Then the contestants had to walk across the field carrying that bag of weight. They were amazed at how heavy the bags were and how tired they were after carrying them. That was their marker. So, having said that, the last 2 weeks have been a little disappointing to me. I was banded on January 23rd and including pre-op have lost 27 lbs and am excited about that, but, I have been at that weight for 2 weeks now. I know I shouldn't be bummed, but wish I could get the scale to move. So, last night my son and I were at Target and were passing the exercise area. On the end of the aisle was a display of weights. I picked up the 20 lb weight and was a little surprised at how heavy it seemed. I have lost that 20 lb weight plus 7 more. If I had to carry around that bag with 27 lbs up and down a football field I would be exhausted. That was my marker. If you had to carry a bag with all of the weight you have lost how would you feel after walking up and down the field? Maybe a visualization of that bag of weight could be your marker.

Sometimes I have to remind myself when I am eating that whatever I am eating is not the last time I will get to eat that food. Does that make sense? What I mean is if there is a bowl of M&M's at work and I take 10. Instead of going back later and grabbing more I try to say to myself to stop because it won't be the last time I get to have M&M's, they will be there again another time so don't pig out on them, save it for the next time. I hope that sounds the way I mean. Like CG said, be smart with your choices.

This is how I just had my first fill, which was a floro fill. I went into a room that had an xray. I laid on the table and while they put fluid in my band they watched it on the xray. Then I drank a small amount of barium and they watched it go through to my stomach to make sure the fluid I was swallowing would go through the way it was supposed to. Will this help me lose weight any faster - I don't know. I just believe that it is more accurate in deciding how much fluid to put in my band. Hope this helps.

Ladybabie, I am jealous of your 1 cup. I am restricted to 1/2 cup. Sometime I just eat out of the 1/2 cup just to make it easy. Like today I had chicken salad. I just spooned it into the 1/2 cup and ate out of that. Looks like you are doing good. I believe we were banded around the same time - Jan. 23rd.

Burps...Burps...Burps
Chrissy-Chris replied to 4thefuture31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been banded for 3 and 1/2 weeks and did sound like a sailor like elcee said above. My 2 boys, 9 and 11, kept saying "Mom, you get on us when we keep burping like that" and my husband kept saying "Sexy!", sarcatically! I told them it wasn't my choice but that I had to so that I could help clear the gas out of my stomach. That went for like 2 weeks after being banded. However, it is much better now and don't notice it to be a problem now at all. -
Let's Talk Straws....
Chrissy-Chris replied to Spaness2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr. encourages straws so that you drink slower and don't gulp. I have been using straws since my surgery 3 weeks ago and have not had a problem. However, I do agree that it is best to follow your doctors orders. -
Post Op Food Phases?
Chrissy-Chris replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is similar to Rockstar_Jen. Two days after surgery only liquids. Then 5 days of pureed foods, one week of mushy food, and then chicken and fish for a week. Today I had my first fill so I am on liquids today, pureed tomorrow, mushy on Sunday, and real food on Monday! Can't wait. Of course I have to go slow and make sure I can tolerate everything but I am excited. I haven't started exercising yet. I need to just haven't. Also, I am only allowed 1/2 c of food. -

That is awesome, congratulations! -
I love the Leslie Sansone video's. They are super easy and you will be amazed at the workout your getting all while walking in place in your own home. She has all different kinds of video and all of them are great. I highly recommend them.

I had my first fill today. They put in 2.5 cc's. I had myself so worked up over nothing. My Dr. didn't numb me and it was like a little pinch. After that, while they were adding the fluid, I didn't feel a thing. I had to wait 15 minutes, drink some water, and I was done. I couldn't believe how fast it went. Then I had a short meeting on nutrition and was finished. Don't sweat it Msluv, it was nothing. You will do just fine.

Is there anyone that doesn't get fills
Chrissy-Chris replied to wozzicat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your story is amazing. I love hearing that you and carolinagirl have done so well with your band with plication. I have the same thing and was banded January 23rd. I go in for my first fill on Friday and am wondering how that is going to go. I am down 26 lbs since preop. Have been following the nutrition plan almost to a "T" but am starting to get a little hungrier between meals, not starving, but hungry. I am feeling positive though and know I have made a great decision. -
I have been doing great. Can't believe tomorrow has been 3 weeks since our surgery. I haven't had any real problems and am down 26 lbs. I get my first fill on Friday. Can't wait to see what that is like! Happy 2 year Anniversary!

January 2013 Bandsters!
Chrissy-Chris replied to Mimi1980's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 23rd and I get my first fill this Friday, the 15th. Sorry you are struggling with your nutrition. Don't give up and just keep trying. Are you controlling your portion sizes? I am only allowed 1/2 cup of food 3-4 times a day. It has to be either fish or chicken and steamed veggies. I can have a protein shake as a meal replacement. What kinds of things are you eating? -

Congratulations CG! You should be proud of yourself! I love seeing pictures like that. Makes everything seem so real and so possible! -
I think going back to your support group would be a good idea. Maybe they will have ideas on how to get on a roll again. Have you talked to the nutritionist at your doctors ofice?
