    Protein Shake Question

Thank you for the suggestions! Are you mixing it with skim milk or water?
  2. Hi there, My surgery is scheduled for February 23 and I am trying out different Protein shakes. I was wondering are you mixing the protein with Water or skim milk? I really like the chocolate flavored with skim milk, but the milk of course adds extra calories. Are you mixing it with water? I tried mixing a few of the fruity flavors with water and I didn't care for it at all. The chocolate flavor with the milk seems much more satisfying. Just curious as I see a lot of talk about Protein Shakes but curious what liquid you are mixing them with!!! Thank you!
  3. Hi Everyone! I have been reading all of the blogs and forums for months while I worked to get my insurance approval. I got the call today that my insurance has approved my VSG!!! I don't have a date set yet but having that approval means everything to me. Insurance first denied my request and wanted me to go through the 6 month pre-op diet. However, I wrote an appeal letter myself and went into great detail about my medical history and medications, including PCOS, hypothyroidism and growth hormone deficiencies and pre-diabetic and explained that losing weight would help with all of these issues, my weight loss journey including years of Weight Watchers and counting calories to lose weight, only to gain it all back, and something in that letter worked because they approved me. So my point is I guess is to never give up or lose hope, and that sometimes we are our own best advocate and need to fight for what we need. I have 40 pounds to lose pre-op, but I am going to bust my butt to get it off so I can have that surgery asap. I will post once I have a surgery date. I am very scared but excited at the same time. I am ready, as we all are, to start a new life!!!
  4. Hi all, I am in the beginning stages of my journey. I have been overweight my entire life, tried every diet imaginable, some with success (some with great success I might add) but I always gain it right back. I am scared for my health, I don't want to die young because of my weight or have serious health problems. I met with my surgeon for the first time 6 weeks ago, had an EGD performed because of acid reflux, have been to a couple of support groups and had my pscyh consult last week. So now I wait. My doc wants me to lose about 40 pounds before he'd do surgery and I did great the first two weeks, but now it seems like I can not stop eating! I've been reading other blogs about "food funerals" and I think that is exactly what's going on. Mentally, I think "oh I need to have this before I have surgery or gotta make sure to have that one more time." It's horrible! Totally a mind trip. And I feel terribly guilty after I've eaten. So instead of losing weight, I've actually gained 3 more pounds. I need to get serious about this pre-surgery diet and quit thinking "oh one more time for this or that" because it's adding up fast! Any advice on getting through, to get a good jumpstart on my pre-op diet? I really want to have this done, I'm ready for a change! I need to get this "food funeral" mentality out of my mind!
