Scars from lap band & a Tummy Tuck
aguafria6 replied to Missy41's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
That happened with my tummy tuck too! Who knew that losing 100lbs, having 2 kids would result in not having the muscles separated. My surgeon said I really lucked out. -

Scars from lap band & a Tummy Tuck
aguafria6 replied to Missy41's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi Missy! I'm a "Missy" too I had the Mommy Makeover surgery in March 2013. (Breast lift & tummy tuck). It was one of the best decisions I made! I used Mederma for scars pretty religiously and I think it helped some. But I've only had the lap band surgery. And I also used it on the tummy tuck scar too -
I thought I was (fill in the blank), but really, I was just fat.

I hated looking at myself in the mirror and that I was ugly. I was just fat. -
I Am So Angry When People Think Surgery Is The Easy Option!

"To Aguafria6. Are you really telling me that your brother in law would want your sister to do things the "hard" way? Is this not some sort of spousal abuse? And what century are they living in that he thinks it is up to him? Your sister has a few issues to sort out!" It was my sister in law, lol but yes, that was exactly what she was trying to say. Can you believe that?? My BIL does not have a weight problem (he's just 40 yrs old) but just has that old School personality. Now I don't think he would say that to my face but still. Yes, they have a strange kinda disfunctional relationship. But it was so awesome to wear my size 4 skinny jeans around her, hehehe. Can't make me feel like shit! Oh and BIL & SIL are very educated too. He's a chemical engineer and SIL just passed the bar exam . I hope they don't pass on too much weirdness to their 8 yr old daughter. And I'm glad they live 1000 miles away from us, lol -
That's wonderful!

I Am So Angry When People Think Surgery Is The Easy Option!

My sister in law said this to me in a roundabout way. I was pissed. (Back story-she is 230lbs and was my weight when I got my Lapband) fast forward 2 & a half yrs, lost 100lbs and I'm at my goal weight. She complimented me on how I looked and said that she didn't think think her husband would want her to have it done "because it was the easy way to do it". Oh I kind of went off but not too bad, lol. I was literally shocked when she said it and said how in the world would losing 100lbs be easy, ever??" Fuck that, lol! Honestly, I think there is jealousy there. Haters are gonna hate. -
I would take it a little slower for now. It's normal for your port area to be sore. I would use one of those belly bands for awhile. (The kind u get after a tummy tuck). They are really supportive for your belly:)

Loose skin! Do you have it or no? Is it inevitable?
aguafria6 replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded in December 2011 and at that time weighed 230lbs. Fast forward to now and I've lost 100lbs and have reached my goal. I definitely had extra, saggy skin. But I also have 2 kids and pregnancy had caused some of that too. I had the "Mommy Makeover" surgery a year ago. Tummy tuck and a breast lift (not implants). For me, it just helped "complete" my journey. My body is not perfect. I'm 39 yrs old and know that I won't look like I did 20 yrs ago. I just hated the fact that all the excess skin was not letting me wear the size I was. For me mainly the excess skin was my stomach and thigh/butt area. I didn't have excess skin on my arms though so that was good. -
I waited about 2 months. My drink of choice is Crystal Light and vodka! Low calories and now after losing 100lbs, I'm quite the lightweight, lol.

Governor Chris Christie and the Lap-Band
aguafria6 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I voted other. I think it's a combo of "he's doing great" and "it's too soon to tell". Have you watched the show on TLC called "My 600lb Life"? Christie wasn't quite that heavy but kind of close. As we all know, weight loss and maintaining is a life long process. I hope that he continues in his success! I would like to see some of his before and after pics. The ones that I have seen doesn't look like he's lost 100lbs but I didn't search that hard. I hope he's not lying like a politician -
I agree Karen! I've also know that Nordstrom has really good bra fitters. It's amazing what a good bra fit does for our boobies!
-
For me it was the face, then boobs, stomach, thighs and butt! When I was first banded my bra size was a 42 or 44 DD. I went to the store Intimacy and got a real bra fitting for the first time. I'm now a 32D. I will never have to get a Lane Bryant bra again!

December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??
aguafria6 replied to loretta\ Baconton Georgia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, you guys are rocking it! I had my surgery a year ago (December 2011) and I know it took me awhile to start losing so soon. Honest it seems so easy for me, just b/c physically I am not hungry. But I still love to cook and bake for my family. But I have always liked to cook. Skinny Cuban Chick- there is nothing better than going into shopping in the plus size section it's definitely so much better to concentrate on inches than numbers.(says the girl who struggles w/ that all the time Noops-I was in the same boat as you! My pre-op weight was 235. Honestly, the best advice I can give you is to be patient. True Results added very little fluid when I first started getting fills. (But they have too) so honestly when you get your 1st fill, don't expect miracles and think you will be in the green zone b/c you probably won't be. (I suck at giving motivational advice sometimes but this is just my own experience. I do know you lost a lot more weight than I did at the beginning so I hope you do feel more in the green zone. I've found that protein fils me lip too. And I always eat oatmeal in the morning too. Good luck to all of you!! -
December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??
aguafria6 replied to loretta\ Baconton Georgia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Love hearing/reading these updates after a year! I was banded a year ago (12-22). Things couldn't be better. I've lost a total of 85lbs and I think I'm at my goal weight (but I never really set one in the beginning) I'm at 145, 38 yrs old). I'm now really looking into the mommy makeover surgery. (Tummy tuck, lift, and maybe a little lipo in my theighs) that's it though. I love going shopping now and not at Lane Bryant, haha! I've only been in the red zone once but for the last few months its been in the green zone. I've definitely lost more weight later on after my surgery. I thought I would have lost more early on but that's okay! I've had a couple of my friends ask how I've lost my weight. I was never sure if I was going to tell people that I had the lap band or I was just "watching my weight". Now I scream from the roof top that I had the lapband. If people get judgmental, I'm thinking they are just jealous or just ignorant. Anyways...congrats to the couple of previous posters! It's wonderful to look into the mirror and think "is this me??" Peaceful...I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your job due to complications I'm just totally being nosey but was it due to the surgery? And you are exactly right, everything that happens is for a good reason! Come on people, post your stories....the good and the bad -

aguafria6 replied to loretta\ Baconton Georgia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad to have found this thread! I was banded on 12-22 and I've lost a total of 14lbs since my surgery. I def related to a couple of people in the thread. (I remember crying after my surgery b/c I was in pain and couldn't do anything) but that got much better in a few days. I've heard of the term "bandster hell" but what exactly is that? I've felt hungry over the past week and I definitely know that I'm not in the green zone. I've got 3 more days until my follow up appt w/ my surgeon and I def need a fill. I just can't wait til everything is healed, I can eat regular foods and start exercising! -
Hello, I'm Missy and I just found this site. My surgery is scheduled for January 24th, 2012. I'm a SAHM to a 5 and 7 yr old and now I have no more freaking excuses as to losing weight. I'm so excited for my surgery date. Very few people know that I am getting the lap band surgery done. I think it's probably from embarrassment or something?? Did you guys go thru that? Everyone who I have told has been supportive except for my MIL....she's kinda like Marie on Everyone Loves Raymond, but I disgress....that's another thread So glad I found this forum!!
