ROSIEG started following Hello Ohio, let's get this started, Kettering Support Meeting 4/11 and UHC Choice plus-won't cover?

Just keep in mind that if you talk to eight different people at UHC - you get eight different answers. I was told my priority was "bumped up", and then the next person I talked to was very rude and told me that weight loss was never considered a priority issue. So, don't jump on the band wagon until you have the letter in hand. Hang in there it will happen!

Sorry, I won't be able to make Applebee's as planned - I have to take my husband to a Doctors appointment - however, I hope to see everyone at the meeting. Rosieg

I would love to meet the Dayton Group for dinner - I am having my 1st fill on the 9th - I had to postpone my orginial date due to my husband having open heart surgery on March 29th. So I am a little behind on my weight loss. Hope to see everyone soon. ROSIEG

Hey Dr. Schumacher's group - I got my letter on Saturday the 24th, called the office on Monday and since I had already been through all the classes and pre-op (Disco-Diva, I think I was in class with you) and already scheduled and cancelled, they scheduled me for Wednesday the 28th. And to make things even sweeter I became a grandma on the 27th. I am now 4 days post op and so far the worst thing was the caffeine headaches I experienced. I have no hunger and am still on clear liquids (so far I have only had a popsicle, some ice tea and a 1/2 cup of broth). I'm having a hard time making myself eat since I am not hungry. I was told two weeks of clear liquids (ah, the price we pay for beauty!!!) ROSIEG

Well, last week on Feb. 20th we checked with the insurance (UHC) and was told no answer yet. However, on Saturday I received a letter dated 2/10/07 saying I was approved. I called the Doctors office on Monday was scheduled for Wednesday (2/28/07)and I am now 4 days post op. So hang in there everybody. Just cautiously believe what your insurance people tell you.

My Doctor's office manager is actually calling and she is not getting any better results than I was. I work for the government and can chose from different insurance companies, which after this experience, I will carefully research my options much more carefully. I know everybody says hang in there, but I am having a hard time believing it takes this long. Rosieg

My doctors office told me that when they called UHC in January, that since it was an observation and outpatient that I didn't need to be preapproved. I thought that sounded strange, but I figured since they scheduled me it must be so. It wasn't. So, my advice is to call UHC and check on it yourself. I have called 9 times and received 9 different versions, so I can only hope for the best. Good Luck to you. I was amazed that every story from UHC was so different. RosieG

Hi friends of crappy insurance. I have United Health Care, and was scheduled for yesterday (2/13/07) to have my banding. On Monday afternoon I received a phone call stating that the hospital hadn't got my approval and I should bring a cashiers check for $16,800, (that was funny) or they would have to cancel my surgery. I have talked to UHC 9 times so far and have been told so many things it isn't funny. I work in a hospital, and if I talked to anyone the way I have been talked to by some of the UHC employees, I would be without a job. There is no manager or supervisor you can talk to and also only one number you can call. You can't voice a complaint unless you go through the claims request - I can't believe I am paying for insurance to be treated like crap. Sorry, just need to vent to someone who cares!!!! RosieG

Well, it's 1 day after I should have had my surgery. Unforuately United Health Care is not making my life any easier. I am so frustrated after having talked to them 9 times so far. They keep asking me who said I didn't need the preapproval - I told them when the doctors office called they were told that. I was just repeating what I was told - I didn't schedule myself for the surgery. So I can't stay off work - waiting for the approval, so I will just go back to work and hope I hear something soon. I have already wasted 2 and 1/2 days of sick leave. I am certainly not a happy camper. Wish me luck. RosieG

"murphys Law Is That Whatever Can Go Wrong Will"! The Hospital Called Yesterday At 2:30 And Left A Message That My Surgery Was Cancelled For Today (2/13) Because It Wasn't Approved By My Insurance. I Came Home From Work Listened To My Message And Called The Insurance Company (who Also Said It Wasn't Approved Yet). The Billling Department At Sycamore Said She Would Cancel My Appointment For Surgery After She Talked To Me And Asked My What I Wanted To Do : Cancel Or Bring A Cashiers Check For 12,000 And A Few Hundred. I Called The Billing Department Back At 4 And No One Was There, And I Never Received A Call Back. I Have Been On The Phone Numerous Times With United Health Care And Also With Dr. Schumacher's Office And Am Still Waiting - Maybe I Will Get The Surgery Tomorrow. I'm A Little Ticked Off Since I Was At Sycamore For My Preop Testing And Wished I Had Been Told By Billing Then Of The Situation. Wish Me Luck! Rosie

I am scheduled to be banded tomorrow by Dr. Schumacher. I'm a little nervous, and think I may have read a few toooo many postings. I am not anticipating any problems. I got myself into this body and now I am making plans to get out of it. Wish me the best! ROSIEG
