Right there with you! HELP ME (but I refuse to provide you with the required information) HELP ME (I'm going to post the exact same question in several places) HELP ME (I refuse to believe what you've told me) HELP ME (My opinion of your facts mean that your facts don't matter) I'd call myself a vet at this point... Banded and became a member here in 2011, Bypass in 2018, So, 7 years on this site... 2 WLS surgeries and lots and lots of failures... But, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't force him synchronize swim with you.
  2. I told people, anyone that thinks it's easy clearly doesn't know what they are talking about LOL. I told people because I knew I was going to be dealing with eating changes, time out of work, drastic weight loss... all of those things will cause questions. So rather than let people make up stuff, I've been open about the whole ordeal, this way I can control the story.

    Ear blocked

Might want to see a doctor about that... not sure how it could be related to the surgery exactly, but, still, get a doctor to check into that.

    I am Severely Obese!

I've never seen or heard of those extra subcategories within Obese, found this chart, only charts I've seen previously were only labeled Under, Normal, Over and Obese. Category BMI (kg/m2) BMI Prime from to from to Very severely underweight 15 0.60 Severely underweight 15 16 0.60 0.64 Underweight 16 18.5 0.64 0.74 Normal (healthy weight) 18.5 25 0.74 1.0 Overweight 25 30 1.0 1.2 Obese Class I (Moderately obese) 30 35 1.2 1.4 Obese Class II (Severely obese) 35 40 1.4 1.6 Obese Class III (Very severely obese) 40 45 1.6 1.8 Obese Class IV (Morbidly Obese) 45 50 1.8 2 Obese Class V (Super Obese) 50 60 2 2.4 Obese Class VI (Hyper Obese) 60 2.4
  5. You should be given one at the Hospital post surgery, and I do believe everyone gets one. I got one back in 2011 when I had the Band installed and I got another one in March when I was revised to the Bypass.

    I am Severely Obese!

Where are you all seeing this BMI chart with these extra categories? BMI 38.6 here.

    NSV Today!

Congrats! This is exactly why I advocate for not paying attention to JUST weight!

    Gaining weight

I was banded in 2011, lost 70, then nothing for years. I was recently revised to the Bypass and I could not be happier with that choice!

    PRE pre-op diet

You can do your best to emulate a post surgical full foods diet, 6 meals a day, focusing on proteins first, and everything else second. Cut all added sugars, coffee, soda. Make sure you are getting over 64oz of water a day. You start doing that now and not only will it be easier later, but you'll be dropping weight like you need to. Also, start exercising now as well, at least 6 hour of focused exercise. Learn to not drink while you are eating and waiting 30 mins before and after eating before drinking again.

Fainted on MJ edibles (in a bad place!)

That's more than likely just the dehydration... or the combination of dehydration and a bit of low blood pressure caused by the edible. Any idea how what the potency of what you ingested was? Still would have to chalk it up to dehydration...

    PRE pre-op diet

Most of us had liquid diets for pre-op. I was restricted to only 3 BariatricFusion shakes, some sugar free jello, watermelon and as much celery as I wanted. I would focus on the protein first and foremost (since that's kinda how things run after surgery as well) Which surgery are you having? Because that changes things slightly.
  15. You were supposed to be walking pretty much right out of the recovery room... walking is a MAJOR help with gas and healing (and preventing blood clots), start now if you really haven't started yet!

Stall a complete week and this week

You didn't mention how your water intake was going. That's a very critical part of the weight loss equation. And as those that follow know, I tell everyone not to focus strictly on weight, it's only 1 part of the whole picture! Your body fat could be decreasing and you could not lose or even gain weight. Your body will stall when it needs to re-calibrate, so any changes to food intake could trigger one. As long as you are under your calorie max, over your protein minimum and over your water minimum. And you are actually getting in some real exercise (not whatever you do all day at work or normally, you need to get some EXTRA actual exercise in) then you'll be fine. Just keep to those requirements! You got this!
  17. GasX will help, so will using your incentive spirometer. Take a nice long slow deep breath in, hold it and press into it slightly so you can feel the pressure build a bit, then slowly let it out. This helps compress the gasses that might still be in you from the surgery and force them into the blood for processing. I used this trick for my band back in 2011 and again for my bypass in March. Really does help.

    How am I gaining weight?!

I know Isopure Zero Carb is on the higher end for sodium, make sure to up the water intake to counter. Agreed, if you are only hitting 300 calories, a few extra is NOT going to hurt! Hope it gets better as you work though this!

    Weight watchers after surgery

I feel like this was asked already and I responded to it.... Have you asked anyone at WW?

    Ready set to....

Dry mouth spray and lip balm was a life saver post op.... they don't let you drink anything for several hours afterwards... so having something to sooth your lips and mouth really made a world of difference! Good luck and Congrats!

    Surgery with children?

I would NOT personally do both surgeries at the same time, I was told nothing over 10 lbs for 6 weeks. You are going to be ZAPPED for a few after surgery, I couldn't imagine both parents being out of commission with a set of 1 year old twins needing help. You'll want someone else to be able to take the children for you if you need time to relax or if you are in pain. My 2 cents. I personally wouldn't have had my wife and I laid up at the same time, Just don't see how that would work. Good luck with your decision!
  22. Could be gall stone pain radiating, could be a staple-line issue. If it's persistent, I highly suggest talking to your surgical team for review.
  23. I was told 1 oz of puree in 15 mins was what was typical. But everyone will be different. Best to make sure you take your time with things, don't eat and drink at the same time, etc. Other than that, as long as you are hitting your protein and water metrics as well as getting in all the exercise you can, you've got nothing to worry about.

    Help

Protein first, and WATER WATER WATER. And I say this over and over, DO NOT FOCUS ONLY ON WEIGHT! There are so many things going on with WLS, that focusing ONLY on what the scales says for weight, without factoring in anything else like body fat % or your body measurements, will make anyone question their progress. I'm under my calorie goals every day, I hit all my protein and water marks, I'm in the gym at least an hour a day.... yet the past 3 days I went from 260 to 260.8. So if I ONLY looked at that, I'd be going in the wrong direction... but I know that my body fat % has dropped .2% in that time, so I'm not actually gaining, I'm losing. Just not "weight", at least not just yet. Square inch for Square inch, muscle weighs more than fat. So any muscle gaining you are working on is going to offset fat loss and very well could end up in a gain... Also, stalls happen often, not always just around certain post-op dates. You've transitioned from pureed to solids, that's going to take some time for your body to get used to again, so your body taking some time to re-calibrate... will happen. Just don't let the process get you down, as long as you are doing what you are supposed to... things will work out as expected. Don't stress, You got this!
  25. CONGRATS!! Isn't it awesome!! 21 lbs to your goal! YOU ROCK!
