    Bean broth?

If the Docs said no salt... I'd have to ask them if they meant no added salt or really "no salt" because Sodium exists in so many things, including the approved shakes and lots of other "approved" foods/liquids/etc, I mean, chicken broth is acceptable and that's got plenty of sodium in it... Honestly, if all other broths are allowed, I can't for the life of me see why broth from beans would somehow not be allowed. But as always, if you are REALLY worried about it, call your doctor, surgical team or nutritionist.

    Bean broth?

The OP specifically asked if they could drink the liquid part... which, being on a liquid diet, means you can drink liquid.
  3. At 8 days out, some pain is going to be normal, you are still healing, your stomach is still swollen. Just take it easy and do what you can.

    Bean broth?

If it's a liquid, and you can drink liquids, then go for it. We need some salt in our diets anyway. Just as long as you should be watching your blood pressure or sodium intake... take it slow in case you've got any reactions, but... it's a liquid and you are approved liquids. *disclaimer* This is my opinion and not any medically supported information. LOL

    Possible I've Lost Too Much?

    Ugh that sucks!
  6. Friday, Nov 13th 1998. Trying VERY VERY HARD to get back to anywhere NEAR this size! Before our 20th Anniversary this year! (My 40th birthday is 2 days later) Yeah, it's a pretty big year for me... Major Surgery, 20th Anniversary and turning 40!

    RNY bypass is tomorrow!

Congrats! Good luck and here's to a smooth surgery and fast recovery!
  8. Which Surgery? For me... having the Band and the Bypass, I didn't really have much pain... I was out of work for 2 months to be safe, couldn't pick up anything over 10 lbs for like 6 weeks. I mean, I could have, but I followed my instructions to the letter. I didn't have any issues really with water or protein or food once I was cleared for that. Just take your time, listen to your body (and your doctors) and go from there. Sounds like you'll do ok given your description of your other surgeries.

    Secound thoughts

Well, you still have the choice. You can choose food, or you can choose yourself. That list you have more than likely outlines foods that people typically can't eat, it doesn't mean that you can't eat those (you shouldn't) but it also doesn't outline foods you might have issues with after surgery. Speaking of Surgery, which WLS are you going for? Because that changes things to some extent. But yes, part of getting thinner with WLS, is giving up certain foods forever.
  10. Just highlights the continued variations in pre and post op diets... I was on purees for a month... it REALLY started to suck...

    Possible I've Lost Too Much?

Are you allowed a backpack hydration pack? Might help you get more water in without having to touch anything with your hands.
  13. I was under the impression (from my own surgery and lots of others) that bypass patients start purees the day they leave the hospital. Sleeves get stuck on liquids for a month after surgery (typically).

    Losing inches but not weight

This means you are losing body fat! If you are working out, this type of issue is going to happen, you'll be dropping body fat, but not "weight". It'll catch up, just keep doing what you are supposed to!
  15. Do you move your scale around? I know the digital ones they don't want you to pick them up because it can cause them to become uncalibrated. If you are in the market for a scale, they sell them with body fat measurement options. They might not be 100% accurate, but it gives you another data set to track trends with (IE if you start at X body fat %, then that number keeps going down... you are losing body fat, doesn't really matter if the starting number or drop amounts are 100% accurate, as long as that number keeps decreasing, you know you are losing body fat). Work on getting that water number up more, our bodies need a certain amount just to stay alive, we need more to process fat. Are you having issues due to taste or just the act of consuming fluids are still giving you some issues?
  16. Oh I am right there with you on this one! I'm trying my hardest to be the same weight I was when I was 20, for when I hit 40 this November. I've got a decent way to go in a short amount of time... but I can 100% relate to this, what am I going to look like, "Fat don't crack" so... am I going to end up looking older than I did when I was heavy? I'm still super excited about the prospect of being "thin" again that I'm not super worried... but the thoughts are there!
  17. Congrats! Good Luck! and here's to a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery!
  18. Sounds typical, my first was semi solid then lots of black sand... it clears up with time and diet changes.

    emotions all over the place

@Beta98 my emotions were all over the place as well. I would just internally deconstruct the emotion to see if I could find out where it was coming from, typically it's just misplaced fear. You lost 100 lbs 2x in your life, so that means you've got the will power to do so, but you are afraid you aren't going to be able to keep it off. Well, there is only 1 person that can make sure that happens, and that's you. It's ok to be afraid, hell if anyone says they weren't some level of scared before surgery, I'd call them a liar to their face. Even the most prepared person in the world is going to have some latent fear about the procedure. I've been through this 2x times now, I've watched surgeries being performed, I knew every step of the surgery, the tools, the complications, who was doing what, etc... and I was still afraid to some extent. I had the same "uncertainty" fears, each time I simply told myself that I was going to make 100% sure this time was different. I've even forced myself to do things when I'd rather not... I've been at the gym and been like "I'm done with this... the results are too slow" but, even though that though crossed my mind, I didn't leave. I finished my work out and moved on. You will have moments where you want to cave, it's your choice to do so. You've just got to make the decision not to cave. You've got this.

    Stall

@Molly Quinn Ok... Are you tracking your food intake? Are you under your calorie count for each day? Are you tracking carbs, sugars, fats, etc? Are you tracking your water intake? Are you getting more than 64 oz of water? upwards of 128 oz? Are you exercising? How often? How long? What type? If you can answer "no" to any of the above... change that. Are you checking your body fat % as well? I stall often, weight wise anyway, but my body fat % keeps dropping. I attribute this to being in the Gym daily working on muscle growth. Good luck, if you feel you are not on track, start tracking!
  21. I was instructed to start the day I went home.

    SMH

And then there are the "one uppers"... I'm just here trying to help folks by relaying information and facts. If I throw out an opinion, it's usually pretty clearly an opinion. But some folks just don't want to acknowledge facts if they don't correlate with their opinion. Seems like the reason I stopped coming around here back in 2011/12 still exists. I haven't blocked anyone yet... might have to start doing that (if that's even still an option)

    Gallstones....

You do realize you are actively trying to tell me that "your surgeon is better" because she gave you meds you might not need... I'm not saying **I'M** smarter than anyone... simply that, and this is fact.... if you have gall stones, that medication isn't going to do anything (at the dosage typically prescribed for WLS, yes there is a therapeutic level, but that's 3+ times a day for months and even then it's not guaranteed to be effective, you can research that yourself)... this came from a multi-award winning surgeon who's done thousands of bariatric surgeries, the head of the pharmacy at a Lifespan training hospital, and several other medical professionals. So, you can try to twist it however you wish... but don't you dare try to tell me that I'm trying to claim I'm smarter than anyone else for relaying the information in the same fashion as you are doing.
