Is it higher than 100.5? If no, then you don't call. This is a cut and dry situation, only if or when that temp goes over 100.5 do you pick that phone up. Low grade temp is totally normal after surgery.

Cheez its, my little snack
Matt Z replied to apositivelife4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can confirm that Moon Cheese Cheddar tastes EXACTLY like Cheez-its. And it's not some highly refinded junk.. it's just freeze dried cheese. -
Hope my nutritionist doesn’t hate me
Matt Z replied to Greyfaery's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did they state you have to record? My mandatory 6 month dietary work up, I wasn't required to do so. If they never said "track everything" then it's on them. If they did, and you didn't... you might have a little finger wagging coming your way... but if you are losing weight, then you clearly were doing what you needed to do. If you were gaining and not recording, I'd expect them to potentially delay the surgery. -
That sounds awesome actually, and like a major incentive to put forth your best effort... is it shallow and vain, sure... but that's sorta human nature!

Call your doctor and talk to them? 2 months out you should be well into being healed up (not fully, the typical range is 6 months to be totally healed) but you are healed enough that it shouldn't be an issue. If you are following your diet still, and you know it's not a specific type of food that you can no longer tolerate, you should check in with your PCP / Surgical team.

Smoking and surgery- munchies!
Matt Z replied to miss_smiles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm prescribed Dronabinol for my sleep issues, so sometimes I get some munchies from them. Stick with healthy options. Fruits, veggies, depending on your craving. Just really keep yourself in check with portion sizes and really hammer that water intake as well. Having good options around is the key here. Halo Top ice creams, fresh or frozen fruits, sugar free options. I'm a huge fan of Kay's Naturals Protein snacks for all sorts of different "needs", high protein, low carb, low cal snacks that actually taste really good and they have all sorts of options from sweet to salty to cheesy. For when you just need to crunch through a bag of "chips". I find a bowl of strawberries and a banana a really great sweet treat. Or yogurts with some Cacao powder on it. -
How long for nicotine/cotinine results?
Matt Z replied to insta_adventurer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gottcha, I wouldn't stress. If they didn't already tell you that the missing test was going to delay your surgery, odds are it's not going to delay your surgery, ESP if you don't smoke. -
If your skin is dry, it's possible you need to up your water intake. I'm using my original wedding band to hold my newer band in place now LOL.

Totally normal this soon after surgery, and the vomiting can actually make the nausea worse due to potential swelling caused by irritation. Typically people get better between the 2nd and 3rd weeks from what I've seen around the boards. But when in doubt, call your PCP / Surgical team and pose the question to them.

How long for nicotine/cotinine results?
Matt Z replied to insta_adventurer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For urine testing, nicotine can be testable for 3-4 days typically. I'm seeing some research say it's testable for upwards of 20... You can speed that up with lots of water and exercise. -
Congrats you are doing great!

I've been married for almost 20 years, I work at a hospital... nothing offends or shocks me. Seriously, nothing. I'm dealing with some sympathy bloating myself because my wife is cycling... Crazy sympathy bs... Fat Prom???

Interesting... I'd cut the broth out all together and see if that helps. It's just really not much more than just flavored salty water anyway.
-
right, but how much does your pre-op diet say you can consume a day?
-
ATENA can take upwards of a month for a determination. Just keep praying that they don't deny it for some reason. I had mine denied and was forced into a 6 month doctor assisted diet and exercise program before they would approve.

Help!!!! Weight gain
Matt Z replied to Prissy1122's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Start over. Nothing anywhere says you can't just scratch everything and start from square one. Pretend you didn't have the surgery 6 years back. Start doing a pre-op diet. Then transition back into your progressive increase diet. Get back into tracking EVERYTHING. Check your BMR because it has decreased since you started your process. You can do this, you just need to focus and get back on track. -
I had asked this in another post of yours I believe, but... how much broth are you consuming... vs how much does your nutritionalist / diet sheet say you can consume? I know mine was 1 cup a day, that's it.

Being put under General Anesthesia is easy, you don't have to do anything, you just fade off to sleep. As far as passing out and tube feedings... not sure what or when this occurred to folks in the stories you are reading, but, passing out is pretty much what General Anesthesia does, you *will* have a tube placed into your airway (call Tracheal intubation) and you will be on a breathing machine. This is all normal and 100% common practice. Understand that medical practices change and update often. The horror stories I read were old information. The death rates for Bypass surgery have dropped quite a bit from the old "1 out of 1000 people will die on the table" rhetoric. Being nervous/scared is normal. Just remember, all those horror stories, look up all the weight / age related horror stories and compare them to the WLS stories. Not doing something is often much worse than taking the limited risk and reaping the rewards.

Weight Loss and Siatica
Matt Z replied to California joe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This could actually get worse for a little bit. The reason for that is due to visceral fat reduction causing more pressure on joints, nerves, tendons, etc. It should resolve as your body adjusts to the lower body fat, but it seems lots of people don't understand that fat isn't just external, it's around all of our organs, muscles, etc and it protects and lubricates those components. So, as the buffer around your muscles, joints, nerves, etc starts to reduce, you might notice some increased pain until things sort themselves out. I know I'm still working through some hip issues myself due to the weight loss. -
Coffee? Where art thou coffee?
Matt Z replied to BeautyQueen218's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do 1 8-12 oz coffee a day, in the morning. No sugar, no sweetener outside of some sugar free non-dairy creamer and a splash of fat free milk to for the caffeine to bind to so it doesn't impact my calcium intake. -
Congrats!

I get that... I've moved to avoid someone that I noticed in the mirror while walking around at the gym... and it was me.
