  1. Don't worry about it! That's what they are there for... I'm actually really glad to see someone saying they are calling their doctors office with questions, rather than post here when they REALLY should be talking to their doctors. The biggest thing with surgery is to make sure you just take your time, don't worry about the things you CAN do, worry about what hurts. Swelling takes a while to go down too... but you'll be alright. Focus on healing first, then all the crazy exercising... but again, if you can do something, and it doesn't cause any issues or pain... then it's just fine to keep doing. And I'm confident that your doctors will tell you the same thing. Just as long as you are resting because, if you don't rest, it can take longer to heal!
  2. The initial walking is really to prevent blood clots and to help get the gasses trapped in your abdomen out. It's not about actual "exercise" exactly. I was on the elliptical for 10-20 mins a time, 2 or 3 times a day after like 2 weeks or so. But the first few weeks you REALLY want to focus on healing, getting up to walk to the bathroom or to the kitchen, or just around the house for a minute or 2 every hour is more than enough to keep things from clotting up. But all in all, if you can do time on the treadmill and nothing hurts, you aren't passing out, "nothing bad is happening" then keep doing it. You'll be fine! Your incisions are not going to be fully healed in 3 days... they won't be fully healed in 13 days, and they won't be fully healed in 23 days. Average healing time for an abdominal incision is 1 to 2 months. You'll be able to do a lot more as time goes on, but you won't be fully healed up for upwards of 2 months.
  3. Don't worry about tiny gains. If you are not tracking body fat % as well. Just remember weight is only 1 number and even though it's called "weight loss surgery" it's not about dropping weight, it's about dropping fat. We can lose "weight" by losing muscle mass, but that's not a desired effect, so focus on the fat loss part and not the overall weight. Once you get cleared for more exercise, ones that will allow you to strengthen, you'll notice more changes. You are not failing, just, everyone's body is different and some take longer to "figure out" what's going on with the changes, your body is being forced to totally readjust it's normal processes, your diet and intake seem really good, just keep that up, focus on healing and don't worry too much about small gains right now.

    Weight stalls

slow downs happen all over the place, some generally effect everyone at the same time, but lots are just all over the board individual occurrences. Having a higher starting BMI, you can drop some serious amounts of weight, your call out stats appear to show 100 lbs already since March, which is fantastic. Pay attention to your BMR, the amount of calories you burn just from being alive. As we age, and as we lose weight, this number drops. So we have to adjust our routine to keep the weight loss the same rate (or just accept the changes) https://www.active.com/fitness/calculators/bmr So for you, without knowing your age, I'll just assume 35 Your starting BMR was 3042 calories per day Today your BMR would be 2607 calories per day That's a rather large change in caloric burn per day , 435 calories less per day are getting burned, just because you lost 100 lbs. So, keep tracking your intakes, keep your water intake in the 128oz range if possible, and keep exercising. You'll either need to accept the slower weight loss or change your daily exercise or intake or both to cover the 435 calorie change to keep your original caloric deficit the same. Hope that helps!

Did I even just have gastric bypass

I guess then you are confused then, because no where did he mention pain at all.

Weight Loss Plateau at 3 weeks???

Search the site, there are literally hundreds of separate posts about the dreaded 3rd week stall. It's pretty common. It's not an issue. Things will start up again, just keep following your instructions.

    No longer have sleep apnea

Very cool... I've been delaying my follow up sleep study until I get closer to my goal weight... but with how much my sleep has been suffering, I might bite the bullet and go for another study to see if my sleep issues are now because of the CPAP.

Did I even just have gastric bypass

Did you even read his post before commenting? I was the same way, zero issues at all. Nursing staff were calling me their dream patient before the end of the first night. Zero nausea, zero issues with pain or pain management, didn't need any extra anything, hardly needed the nursing staff at all. Zero issues with drinking. I also joked that I didn't have the surgery that it was all for show.

    Electrolytes

Am I reading this correctly? You are trying to get your bypass reversed? Have you spoken with your doctors about this, because typically the bypass is considered a non-reversible surgery. Does it happen, sure, but it's usually a last ditch effort due to complications with reverting this surgery.

    Post op appointments

My post-op is/was: 1 week post op with PCP 6 week post op Nutritional group class 3 month Surgical and Nutritional one on ones. 6 month Surgical and Nutritional one on ones. 12 month Surgical and Nutritional one on ones. Follow ups will be yearly or as needed afterwards.
  12. Liquids *SHOULD* go through through you... That's a good sign, means your swelling is going down. That'll be why you are getting some hunger as well, those aggravated nerves are healing up and getting back to their normal jobs. Your body isn't defective, wait for those foods and you'll get some restriction again.
  13. Totally normal. Focus on healing up first, then worry about anything else.

    Hard to lay in bed

The "Log Roll" method to get in and out of bed is so much help here! I'm surprised they don't teach it more during pre-op and at the hospital.

    Preparing for the dead😮

Post op, just follow your surgeon's orders. Walking is going to be pretty much the second you fully wake up from surgery until... well forever. You'll get cleared for extra things as you heal. Focus on healing first. Keep that cart firmly planted BEHIND the horse!

    Partner’s weight

My wife has dropped 25-30 lbs herself as well... AND she's toning up something fierce! She makes me jealous of her muscles, I know that they are smaller and less powerful than mine are, and she tells me that... but her body fat is so much lower than mine that her muscle mass is much more visible... I'm jealous yes, but also super proud of her!

Tips for getting your fluid in?

Just keep a bottle with you at all times. It's odd at first, but after a while it's second nature. I keep a 32 oz bottle with me at all times. So my daily goes kinda like this 8 oz of coffee with 1/2 oz or so skim milk to bind the caffeine 8 -10 oz of skim milk for my protein shake 14-20 oz of water after I finish my shake (whatever the size blender bottle i've used that day gets filled and consumed) 32 oz of water while working etc 4-20 oz of water with my Creatine 16+ oz of water with a propel powder in it while at the gym (Sometimes another round of coffee or maybe some milk or another shake made with Casein) 32 oz of water while home and overnight while sleeping. So I'm getting about 114 oz of fluid a day on the low end 138+ on the high end. It takes time, but as long as you just keep trying to get more, you'll get there.

    Help! Calories? Exercise?

Your call out says you've lost 86 lbs already, but not what your height or current weight is. Check your BMR and pay attention to it, as we age and as we get thinner our BMR drops, your BMR is the amount of calories you burn just from being alive, as this decreases, we have to adjust somewhere else to make up for the decrease. Are you getting upwards of 128oz of water a day? If not, work on that, we need quite a lot more water per day than most people realize and our body uses water to break down fat, SO, if we don't get enough water, our bodies won't be as efficient at fat removal. Also, it's possible to lose body fat but not weight, ESP if you exercising. Check your body fat % if you can as well.
  19. I've got some check ins... but so far they have been overly useless. Your money might be better spent on a personal trainer, they do nutrition as well usually and they will assist with your working out to REALLY help you shed those pounds. Just my 2 cents on the matter.
  20. Don't worry about it. You are swollen and healing. Focus on your intakes and rest right now. Worry about the weight loss after you have healed.

    3 month stall?

Stalls happen all over the place, outside of what you stated you were increasing... that's really it, just stay focused, stay on track and keep doing everything you are supposed to. You could be losing bodyfat and not lose weight, happens to me quite often.

    vitamin patch ads

I'm using them. I like them. Anything else I say about them is going to quickly be shot down by several people due to a lack of trials and some potentially questionable numbers about the product. However, so far, my doctors are also happy with them... so, do your research and make the decision yourself. There is anecdotal support from folks reviewing them and reporting their extended use has also shown positive results in their blood work, but there is no "official" medical support highlighting their effectiveness. So, do they work... it seems so based on user reviews, but there are going to be folks here telling you they don't, even though they don't have and clinical or medical support stating they don't work, just like there isn't any clinical or medical support saying they do.

    Sweet Tooth

How about something natural... like some cut up strawberries and banana? Or any other fruit really for that matter to get that sweetness you want but while being healthy and eating natural foods?

    App Updates

you can totally use both at the same time... no issues at all doing so. But you can update your signature on the app as well, it's in Settings. But I don't know if it's as large as what you are given when you use the web page.

    Liquid diet

It sucks. Hard. But, it does get easier the longer you stick with it. Cheating tends to set people back. So, just focus on all the reasons why you want this surgery, the change can be drastic, so the adjustments needed can seem drastic as well. If you feel like you aren't getting enough, talk to your surgeon/nutritionist and see if they will adjust your diet. Not all pre-op diets are the same. I was allowed unlimited amounts of celery, which helped out greatly. But the biggest advice I can give, is to be VERY open with your doctors/nutritionists and call them when you have questions, it's what they are there for.
