  1. LOL this is amusing. Because as of today, I'm exactly 138 lbs dropped since before I started everything... and lo and behold: 138 pounds = potatoes an average American eats in a year

    Fresh surgery

Congrats on the Revision! Just remember that us revision typically lose weight at a slower rate than those that haven't had any WLS to begin with, I knew that and the speed of loss is still really frustrating to me.

    Pre-op Liquid diet

I'd be willing to say that, this shouldn't be an issue at all, unless you plan on eating the cucumber. But just infusing, I wouldn't figure that to be an issue at all. Obviously clear it with your team... but, you shou

    Scary

Because you are not forcing your body into it's conservation mode. When faced with a drastic lack of food, the human body will hold onto whatever it can until the lack of food is resolved. When you give your body smaller, but consistent amounts, you prevent that conservation mode from kicking in.
  5. Actually Dumping isn't a common side effect of the VSG at all, Dumping happens in Bypass more frequently to be considered a typical side effect, but the sleeve... it happens, but it's quite uncommon.

    Weight Watchers post surgery?

With the sleeve, you should be ok following the WW program.
  7. Congrats! On the FB Group, one might exist already. https://www.facebook.com/search/str/gastric+sleeve+support/keywords_groups
  8. I've had so many times where I've stalled for weeks or gained, but my body fat was still dropping. Something else to be aware of, you CAN be losing fat and not losing "weight".

    App Updates

I'm still shocked that those that monitor this board... haven't bothered to even say "hey, we are looking into this"... the lack of any feedback from the site staff is astounding. I've moderated boards for a few games for years... we'd have been "talked to" if we let a site request hang like this for this long.
  10. That's 100% normal and expected. Whenever we make adjustments to our diets, our bodies react. Some folks just stall out for a while, some gain. If you are following your doctors orders, not over eating, getting in anywhere near the protein and water you are supposed to be getting and are doing some form of daily exercise... then stop worrying and stop focusing on the short term. This whole process is the long way around, no shortcuts. So, just keep doing what you are supposed to, and focus on the long game.

    Surgery is today!!

Firstly, don't worry about it. Really couldn't be in a better place *IF* things happen. Which, odds are in your favor that they won't. Fear about surgery is 100% totally normal. Just give yourself a break and don't worry about being worried. Soon enough you'll be sleeping away while the docs work and you'll wake up to a whole new chapter of your life. Be excited. Change is scary, but this change is good.

    Feeling Lost

Stalls are going to happen, and if you are only tracking your weight, you are missing out on another important measurement, body fat. I've had so many times where I've gained weight and lost body fat. Don't worry about the short term. If you are not eating how you should... don't dwell on it and feel bad for not doing it right, just start doing it right. No one is perfect and no one is a failure until they give up. So, don't give up, change.

    Ordering bridesmaid dress?

It's impossible to predict. Because literally every single person reacts differently to WLS. I've dropped 75 lbs since March 2nd. I ordered some compression gear from China, and by the time I got it, less than a month later, it was too big.
  14. Facts and figures usually works. Find out WHY they don't approve, and when they throw out information that is wrong, correct them on the spot. If it's an opinion based reason, tell them that they are entitled to that opinion, but it's your life and your body and you'll do what's best for you no matter what their opinion is.

Losing weight but not seeing it

I'm right there with you. I still don't "see" myself. Case in point, I was in the gym, minding my own business, moving between equipment, I saw someone moving towards me in the mirror just out of my peripheral vision and I moved to avoid running into this person... except, it was me I was seeing moving towards me. I still feel super fat most of the time as well. It's been hard to focus on what's actually happening that I'm not fully seeing. I have moments where I'm like... damn look at me ! but that doesn't happen too often, the rest of the time I just feel like the same massive blimp of a person, even though everything around me is trying to tell me otherwise, smaller clothes, no issues at restaurant booths or at the movies any more, I can buy clothes anywhere now... I physically feel better, I can physically do so much more... but mentally, I'm still almost 400 lbs and a massive eyesore to the world around me. I've heard it takes time, so I don't beat myself up over it, I've been fat pretty much most of my life, even when I was in the military and super fit, I felt fat and gross. Hopefully it gets better.

    Surgery date

Congrats! Anxiety over this type of thing is natural, don't let it bother you. Good luck on your surgery!
  17. There isn't anyway 3 days after surgery I would have been able to do more than some light walking. I couldn't imagine being required to stand, move, talk, think, and perform for an interview process 3 days post op.... I wouldn't have been able to do it.

When did you start taking your vitamins?

I started all of them more than a month prior. I stopped for the 2 weeks they required me to, then started up the second I got home.
  19. Did you click on the "calculate" button? LOL For you, a female that's 5 foot 8, 321 lbs and 72 years old, your BMR is 2033.
  20. Once I was cleared for the "Try it and see" portion of my nutritional process, I've stayed away from typical white and wheat breads, opting for the super high grain count options, sucks it's more expensive, but I've had no issues from eating the good stuff. I use wraps more than bread now, specifically the fiber one, 80 calorie vegetable wraps.

    Tummy Tuck without Muscle Reconstruction

Yeah, I can understand that! It's tough when the docs leave things off the table for whatever reason, I always go in fully armed with every question, if it doesn't come up, I make sure it does. I've been researching this recently myself, even though I've got a long ways to go before I'm eligible for this surgery, I do a lot of abdominal exercises already so I wasn't really keen on the muscle tightening portion of the surgery either.

    Tummy Tuck without Muscle Reconstruction

Abdominoplasty without muscle reconstruction is an option. When you speak with your surgeon, just be very clear and definitive that you ONLY want the Abdominoplasty and no muscle reconstruction. It's your surgery, it's your money, if you don't want that done and there isn't a pressing medical reason to do so, it's not required.
  23. SF Jello is considered a clear liquid, so don't feel bad about consuming it. You can thicken up your shakes with thickeners you can buy at any pharmacy or you can use ice, more protein, etc to help you feel fuller longer. Fiber helps keep you full too.

    Surgery Time

I wouldn't worry about it too much, normally surgeons leave PLENTY of time between cases for those issues, it's also possible that, that 5pm surgery is your surgeon's only surgery that day, and that it's that late because of all the other standard appointments they have with other patients. My surgery was SUPER early, so I can't talk to that part of the process, but if you are going in for your first WLS, the bypass generally only takes 2-3 hours total to perform. My revision took over 6, but that's because the lapband I was having removed was full encased in scar tissue and took way longer to get out than expected. Chalk the fears up to the typical pre-surgical jitters. Congrats and good luck!
  25. Check into "smooth moves" tea... it'll help things out when you start to get backed up from the pain meds/etc.
