  1. So, I started my 8-6 IF Monday... already broken a stall and lost 2 lbs.

    Infected incision ?

If you do have a fever and it's over 100, get in touch with your surgeon or PCP ASAP. Otherwise, don't worry too much.

    “Healthy police” rant

I'd go with jealousy, ESP if they are heavy folk doing the chastising, totally jealous of your strength and progress.

    Infected incision ?

Looks like some serous drainage... wouldn't worry about it too much if it isn't hot too the touch or painful. No excessive reddening around the wound either. Do you have a fever at all?

    “Healthy police” rant

Typically the most vocal are those that are the most jealous, rather than ask for help or advice, they criticize. I do tend to make comments to myself or my wife about others choices now... but I don't say it to the person in question, no need to be rude to someone if there isn't really a need to do so.

    Hi, newbie here :-)

    Congrats and Welcome!
  7. Some folks have issues with certain sweeteners and sugar alcohols. Could totally be that, still could be the lactose, maybe double a dose of the lactaid and see? Do you typically have issues with whole milk or ice creams?
  8. Never lost any hair... so it looks the same right now as it did pre-op.

Is too fast good or bad?

The higher the starting weight, the faster the initial drop is.

    Home stretch

Seems like you are very ready. Fear/worry/anxiety about the surgery is normal. Your concerns about your eating habits mean you've accepted that you have eating habit issues, that's positive step forward. Every time you feel you can't make it or are unsure if the choice, just remember all the reasons you wanted the surgery in the first place.
  11. SWIM was smoking/vaping a week post op with no issues. Coughing was controlled by putting pressure on the main incision. Zero nausea, Zero appetite control issues, Zero anything.... Cannabis is a fantastic medication for treating injuries and speeding healing times, reducing swelling, assisting with sleep, treating pain, etc. I personally am on Dronabinol for sleep issues (FDA approved THC pills), was taking them the night I got home from surgery, no issues. Most doctors/surgeons are going to go with the FDA/Federal rhetoric and tell you all these trumped up horror stories. The truth of the matter is, it's mostly lies to support why they made it illegal. But those that have used it post surgery all say the same thing, it helped out greatly and they had zero issues with using it.

    Portion sizes

The **ONLY** Person that can tell you what you need to be eating is going to be your nutritionist. Nobody here is going to be able to give you information specifically for you, they can give you their diets and what they have been told, but there are pretty much NO doctors or nutritionists here telling folks what they need for their specific situation. You should have had or should have soon a 6 month follow up with your surgeon AND your nutritionist, if you don't have appointments set, make them.
  13. Approval from Insurances generally takes around 2 weeks on average to hear a reply.
  14. Can't really speak to the surgery's "worth" without knowing your stats. But overall, WLS is "worth it" when the risk of not having the surgery is higher than having the surgery. Everyone is going to have some second thoughts, reservations, fears, anxieties, etc over a major surgery, that's 100% normal. Just keep reminding yourself of all the reasons you want the surgery.

    Cancelled surgeries

What reason did they give you for canceling the surgery?

    Insomnia After Gastric Sleeve

I would assume it would go away once you are fully healed up, so somewhere around the 6 - 8 week mark. Have you discussed this with your surgeon, surgical team or PCP?

    Burning pain and Constipation

Could be a strained muscle, could be the hardened fecal matter causing pain in that area as well. Are you drinking upwards of 128 oz of water a day? Are you taking extra or tracking your fiber intake? Get yourself some Colace, Milk of Magnesia and some Miralax to help soften (Smooth Moves Tea is another good choice to add in here) and move everything, but you REALLY need to up that water intake, dehydration and hardened feces can be quite problematic, good luck!

    Sleeved 9/5/18 Still in hospital

Did they give you an incentive spirometer? If they did, **USE IT EVERY HOUR** If they didn't, get them to give you one, it helps get the gas out much faster than walking alone!

How many cals do you eat at 5-6 Months

I weigh in daily as well. I track body fat as well as weight. It's easy to get flustered and frustrated. You just need to remember that, only you will lose and gain like you. That everyone else is on their own path/ride. Just worry about your own!

How many cals do you eat at 5-6 Months

Mistake #1, don't compare yourself to anyone else, ever. Even identical twins won't lose at the same rate even if they did everything exactly the same. Just worry about what you are doing, if you are still losing and are hitting all your metrics... then stop stressing / worrying about it.

How many cals do you eat at 5-6 Months

@Sleeve_journey_2018_uk To be honest, I have no idea how much I consume in a day. I don't track. That said, 1000-1200 seems about right for 6 months post op. Why are you concerned? Are you gaining? Another stall?

    Assumptions

Maybe it's time for you to not be so courteous and give them back what they are giving to you... I mean, they set the playing field, might as well play by their rules. Every time they make a bad choice, let them know. They might finally stop razzing you about your choices when you start giving it back to them about their choices. Your dad seems more like just lack of information and concern. I mean, unless they turned your uterus into a water park slide LOL And actually being too overweight can prevent conception, I know someone personally that just can't have kids simply because she's overweight to the point where her hormones are so messed up that she can't conceive.

    Ups and downs...

I ask and always point to the fat % because, in the long run, that's really what the surgery is about, it's not really "weight loss", cutting a leg off drops weight... but not what we are trying to do, we are looking to rid ourselves of fat, yet, so few people track their fat %. You don't need to weigh in daily, in fact there are a lot of reasons *NOT* to do so. I do it simply for trend tracking. The biggest take away I was going for was consistency to reduce variables.

    Choosing life

Congrats man! That whole mentality was a driving factor for myself as well, My labs and everything were good, even if I was over 320 lbs, and sure I was "medically healthy" but clearly that wouldn't last forever. I had to weigh out the risks of surgery vs the risks of not having the surgery. Pretty much a no-brainer! Good Luck on your surgery and moving forwards!
