  1. Best to ask. I didn't have to provide squat, just go to 6 nutritionist appts, once a month.

    After 1yr my surgery

Curious, why was my post funny/laughable?
  3. It's nice to see that we've got a proper clinical study linked in that article that supports patches working. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3976443/ "Our study shows that our formulation of vitamin D3 can safely and effectively be delivered by dermal route reducing the incidence of non-compliance of oral route."

    Congrats!

I did, Back in July... ZERO replies from anyone on your staff.

    Diaper Rash

Did they have you in a diaper? It's possible you are having a reaction to some cleaning agent they used to clean you before they inserted the catheter.

    Congrats!

AWESOME... Can we now please get someone to address all the major issues and lacking features in the app?
  7. I use a 30 mins hourglass timer at home. At work I just take note of the time I finish eating and go from there. You have to make it a habit and keep yourself up on it, it's not really a "natural" thing so it can be hard to get into the swing.
  8. isn't everything you listed major "no-nos" for diabetics? A healthy meal plan for people with diabetes is generally the same as healthy eating for anyone – low in saturated fat, moderate in salt and sugar, with meals based on lean protein, non-starchy vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats, and fruit. Foods that say they are healthier for people with diabetes generally offer no special benefit. Most of them still raise blood glucose levels, are more expensive, and can also have a laxative effect if they contain sugar alcohols. Sounds like you are WAY off what you should be eating for your surgery AND your medical conditions. Find a doctor local to you and get this taken care of. The internet is not the place for this type of issue/question, you need to speak to a medical professional.
  9. Sadly, there isn't anything you really can do for your hair. When you start to notice it falling out, that's because your hair has actually started to grow again. Surgery can cause telogen effluvium, this is a higher than normal percentage of your hair going into it's normal rest, your body stops the hair growth, when your body decides it's time to start growing again, it pushes out the hair that was resting and starts over. This is what accounts for normal daily shedding. But since the surgery caused that normal total follicle count to drastically increase, now you are having WAY more hair shed than normal. The only thing anyone can do at this point is ride it out. Anything you take or do to your hair to try to stop the shedding is really only providing nutrition or support for the new hair, the old hair is toast. And yes, any exercise is going to help burn fat and tighten muscles.
  10. It sure does suck! But as much as it sucks, just follow the guidelines you've been given. If you REALLY have that much of a problem with what your team has suggested, call and talk to them. They can and usually will make adjustments if you are having a hard time, the logic is that they would rather modify your diet rather than have you go off it all together because you are having issues. Stick with it as much as you can, because as much as it sucks, it really does prep you for starting over post-op. Stay strong, Stay in contact with your team and Good luck!

    After 1yr my surgery

First off, don't eat and drink at the same time, even if you "can", drinking while eating flushes the food through your pouch. Just stop that habit right now, go back to the waiting 30 mins after eating to drink. You've provided no other information, we don't know your daily calorie count, water intake, etc etc etc. But from what you've said, your surgery worked just fine, you've just stopped working with your surgery. Time to get back on the horse and start following the instructions you were originally provided. If you are unsure, call your surgical team and follow up with them, you should be doing that anyway as you really should have done your 1 year follow up blood work at this point.
  12. Down another .5 lbs. I did eat during my fast again, I had Kind bars, so granola goodies. Still not really getting hungry during the day... Had a double coffee this morning and that might not have been a great idea on an mostly empty system. Going to be seeing a lot of the porcelain today I think.
  13. Beats my protein shaker. Bag of protein snacks, or protein bar LOL This fasting thing is nuts... like, I don't get hungry like I did even last week. I'd NEVER think I could go my entire work shift on 1 cup of coffee, 1 burger with cheese and a packet of ketchup and 1 hot dog with 1 package of ketchup, both with no bun. And 20 oz of sugar free energy drink mix. That's seriously all I've had today and I feel fine.

Yeah, I understand the depression thing... Sadly, sitting 83 lbs from my pre-op surgery check in, 143 lbs from my max weight ... and it's still hanging around. There are PLENTY of calorie dense foods that are good for you, Dates for example are SUPER calorie dense. You can totally get 1200-1500 calories with very healthy options and minimum carbs. Don't be afraid to call your nutritionist or surgical team for advice, that's what they are there for!

    Exercise after Surgery

Yes, walking starts almost as soon as you wake up from surgery. You'll be on some level of restriction for a while, I couldn't lift more than 10 lbs for 6 weeks. Afterwards I was cleared for certain levels of exercise, and then more shortly thereafter. It's subjective and personal based on a number of factors. But always listen to your doctors!

That all really depends on you and your situation. But I'm pretty sure it was in the 1200-1500 range 2 months + out. ESP if you are working out as well.

    Roller Skating!

I used to love going rollerskating, and skiing. But with the weight came balance issues. Maybe once I get used to be thinner again the balance will come back and be more stable and I can get back on the the rinks and boards.

4 - 5 bottles of what size? if it's 12 oz... that's like half what you need. Why are you capping yourself at 1000 calories? Was that advised by your nutritionist? Have you followed up with them? If your energy levels have dropped that drastically, you REALLY should reach out to your team and follow up with them, there could be some issues they need to address. Always best to keep them in the loop with problems of this nature!

Yes, it's normal. Yes eating more can help. Are you tracking your BMR as well as all your intake? Are you getting upwards of 128oz of Water? I can't stress enough how important adequate water intake is to weight loss. The human body REQUIRES water to process fat. So if you aren't meeting your baseline needs... fat removal is going to greatly suffer. Are you doing any sort of exercise?
  20. I tell everyone... I don't care. It's the truth, it's what happened and I own it.
  21. So... today. I've had my cup of coffee. And half my sugar free energy drink mix thing. Just realized I haven't eaten anything or even drank my shake yet...
  22. Matt Z

    Returned to work too soon?

Sounds like it... and you need to figure out how to get that water in... because that requirement isn't going to change as you heal. I made the mistake once to forget to drink my water, we had headed out to the Vineyard, so between packing, driving, the ferry, etc. It was a long time without water. Then I started to get very sick, nauseous, light headed, dizzy, etc etc etc. Thought it was from lack of food... but it was dehydration. Don't worry about feeling like a wimp, take care of yourself and your health!
  23. I think someone needs their Orchid watered and their Dragon fed... LOL
  24. Sigh... and this was getting me through the day FINE *foot stamp*
