Did your surgeon explain exactly why ? Unless there are medical issues, there is no need to wait. Revised from Band to RNY in 1 surgery, and my Band was 100% encapsulated in scar tissue... I don't think your insurance will care really, as long as the new doctor / center is covered (typically will be) it actually will cost everyone less to do it in 1 surgery. Since the Insurance is going to eat some of the cost... I don't foresee them having a problem with you wanting to save them money by switching to a new doctor.

I have no idea... LOL

The biggest thing is to put down your utensil or food between each bite and focus on the chewing. Do not pick your utensil back up until you have swallowed and cleared your mouth completely. Only then can you pick up your utensil or food and get another bite.

Call the hospital and ask them?

5 month stall, anybody else?
Matt Z replied to LouT's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I could list a bunch of questions... But lets just start with this. Could you please list your surgery, your water intake, your typical calorie intake, your BMR if you know it or your age, sex and height and we can figure out your BMR. So many things to go over, but without knowing ANY of your specifics, I could go on and on and not be going in the right direction because I don't know anything required to properly answer your question. -
Sickness post surgery
Matt Z replied to redhead_che's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sorry you are sick, I do hope you feel better soon! Getting sick has been a fear of mine since I got the band in 2011... I couldn't imagine what it would be like to get the full on Flu or something super stomachy... On a side note, you look amazing, congrats on your achievements! -
Closest "flavor free" unflavored protein I've found is Isopure Zero Carb Protein, as Vif stated, there *will*be some level of "flavor"... but I've found that Isopure mixes well and gets masked by what you are mixing well fairly well.

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability

So after a weekend of beer, cake, cupcakes, scratch cookies, I'm still down from Friday... Damn I love this IF crap LOL Big news from the weekend... I traded my car in for a Jeep. Kinda sad about it honestly, I really did love my 2014 Dodge Dart GT... so much awesomeness packed into that car... but I just couldn't keep dealing with the super crappy roads around New England... the construction, the pending winter, so many potholes... I miss it the Dart, a lot. But, I got a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4x4 now, yeah I gained almost 25k miles on the odometer in the trade (My dart only had 37500 on it!) But it was a 1 owner, corporate vehicle that was well cared for, I've got all the same features, less the top of the line audio and the sun roof... but I'll survive. -
Cool, glad to see you reached out to the Docs, you have no idea how often people post serious medical issues here asking for help when they haven't reached out to their doctors first. Work in some fiber, I take chewables every morning to help supplement. If you aren't noticing any pain, and your docs are cool, then just keep up that water intake and things will work out. I fully understand the concern, I had the same as well around the same time frame as you. The reduced solid matter intake plays a part. Good luck and I hope it all resolves!

This is a super easy fix. Stop it. Get back on your diet and start tracking EVERYTHING. Put the pity back in the cabinet with those slider foods and pull yourself up and get moving. Clearly it's bothering you... so do something about it. No one but you is making you eat those foods you know you shouldn't. No one but you is keeping you in that chair, on that couch or in that bed when you could be out hiking, walking, enjoying the outdoors somewhere. No one but you is holding you back! You feel upset and depressed and disgusted. So then make the changes that'll make you feel better! Only you can work with the surgery. Only you can change your habits. Only you can make you feel better! SO DO IT! No more excuses. No more "tomorrows". No more self pity or self loathing. NO MORE WAITING NO MORE INACTION You got this... you just have to get it.

Depression after surgery
Matt Z replied to Beltran01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure why you thought being lighter would make you miss food less. Did you have a pre-op mental health check? Was this not something you addressed with them? This is going to be (for the most part) a life long thing... will it get better / easier... sure it will, you'll adjust and your body will as well, things you can't eat right now, you might be able to down the road. I'm getting close to 6 months and I can pretty much eat whatever I want, making it harder than if I couldn't. Now, since I can eat cake and cookies and drink beer and eat calzones and whatever... I have to make those choices myself, of my own free will, I can no longer say "Oh, I can't eat that cookie it'll make me dump" because that doesn't happen anymore. Not sure what surgery you had... but *it does get better*. If you are having issues, get back and talk to a therapist. -
Ok, Please tell me you've spoken with your doctor, PCP, Surgical team... SOMEONE other than the internet for this issue... You might be impacted and need medical attention. Otherwise, the standard, common items might help. Milk of Magnesia, Miralax, Colace. All of these are available at your local pharmacy. You also need to make sure you are getting enough water, sounds like you might not be. You need to shot for 128oz, you might not be able to get that much in, but you need to be getting as much water as you can right now to help you heal, to prevent constipation and impaction, to assist in fat removal, etc etc etc. Water is such a critical part of this whole process I'm shocked at how often people don't pay attention or how lax people can be with their intake.

Maybe... but maybe not... we'll have to see if they take the time to bother to answer.

I guess the goal is to have both apps mirror the same abilities as the website. Right now all 3 are different Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Surgeon's office maybe, because they have requirements preping for surgery, the PCP can't withhold an approval letter like that because they want to drag their feet. They aren't the nutritionist, or the surgical team, the ONLY thing the PCP needs to do is to say "So and So is healthy and has no issue that would prevent them from getting the surgery". It's a basic level, clearance check, so that the surgeon knows that there aren't any medical issues they are not aware of currently being addressed.

He doesn't have the legal right to do that, if insurance isn't requiring it... then he has no right to say so. Tell him you'll go to another doctor if he refuses to provide you with what you are asking for.

This is because of the malabsorption part of the Bypass, which the sleeve does not have. This is only going to effect bypass patients that aren't taking the vitamins they are required to, or those super rare situations that end up in a bypass reversal.

Yeah, it's crazy what is and isn't covered or classified and why... -
At least you all don't have to deal with body parts "touching down" when you sit on the toilet.... I leaned forward once to get something from the cabinet and was greeted with a very cold surprise.

Glad I can provide some levity! And that's great with the shrinkage, and this might be the only time you'll see a man say they are hoping for some shrinkage in that area LOL!!!

How long until pain after every bite goes away?
Matt Z replied to Jingle123423's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If it's hurting, and shakes don't then I'd suggest going back to them, you might not be fully healed, you might have a stricture, there could be a few causes for pain... but if shakes don't hurt, I'd do that until you can get advice from your surgical team. -
CONGRATS you look great! I got some gaping at my mid thigh when I put my knees together, which was odd because I don't think that's ever happened. And upper, inner thigh sag is SO GROSS!!! It's like I've got some odd 90 year old guy's skin for a lapel for my junk... how's that for a visual! (maybe it's not THAT bad... but that's how I feel about it)

Wow, they really sped you through the diet didn't they? Most sleeved folks are on liquids for like a month!
