Can we have the "Who liked" turned back on?

And there it is... Awesome, Thank you very much! -
I'm a band to bypass revision myself. Banded in 2011... revised this past March. BEST.CHOICE.EVER. The information on the operation is skewed by old data from older "versions" of the surgery. As medical technology has advanced... this procedure has become exponentially more safe.

What is a typical amount of weight loss?
Matt Z replied to D.Grant's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Check out this calculator to get the very basic generic average. https://www.obesitycoverage.com/weight-loss-surgeries/gastric-sleeve/gastric-sleeves-how-much-weight-will-i-lose Just understand, every single surgery is different. Yes they all follow the same general guidelines, but every, single, surgery is different from the next. So every single WLS patient loses as a much different rate. -
The pre-op sucks. But do your best and stick with it. It DOES get easier as you work through it and it certainly does make things that much easier for post op. Good luck and stay strong! You got this!

I'm all for allowing folks their faith, but downplaying or taking credit away from the wonderful work performed by your surgeon and team does them a disservice. Congrats on a smooth surgery, I hope your recovery is equally as smooth.

All of that. I went as far as to draft up a "Just In Case" letter with all the things my wife would need to know and "goodbye's" to those I wanted to make sure I said goodbye to in case I didn't make it. Totally normal.

It's not nearly as researched as women's hormonal cycles... but men have them as well and we do have changes in emotional states during those times as well... just sayin LOL -

Lol well thankful for that but it's only day 8. I hope these hormones sort themselves out to a manageable level soon. Just remember to give yourself a break. You are going through a LOT right now... it will get better!

When did it start? I can't be like this for six months..no offense. I really hate feeling like this. Week 3 or 4 ish... it comes and goes, some days worse than others... I guess it just depends on who much fat your body is processing... so it might be a good thing that you are going emo-crazy... lots of fat getting nuked!
-
Lol thanks..... I don't know what the rules are about men in the girls room but I appreciate knowing I'm not the only one whose emotionally off. It's supposed to be "no men in the girls room, no girls in the men's room" but... ladies post to the guys room ALL the time LOL. I don't like posting here because I try to respect the rules, but I came back to this a few times and was like... I have to chime in. My emotions are ALL OVER the place... I'm just a few days shy of 6 months at this point.
-
*preamble* Yes I know this is the "Gal's Room" BUT Yes, hormone oddities are "normal". Fat stores estrogen, so as we start shedding the excess fat, that estrogen needs to be processed and removed as well, this creates floods of estrogen which... can cause temporary changes in your emotional processing. I answered here, because this effects Men in similar manor as well. Hope everything levels out for you! And.... Exit

Speaking about surgery
Matt Z replied to Phillip Strickland's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just to be clear, you are looking for contacts from hospitals so you can go and be a guest speaker? I don't think anyone here (all patients) is going to really be the best place to ask that question. This really needs to be directed to each hospitals PR contacts, which can be found by going to each hospitals website. -
Sounds like some toxin build up maybe? Really push the water intake to see if that helps flush things out.

Find yourself a loose leaf Oolong, or Ceylon tea, so tasty! I don't mind a green, but it needs a touch of sweetness added to it personally. -

I'm confused, where did you get the idea that I'm bored with my options? Honestly curious. -
Doesn't sound normal at all, given bypass should reduce acids that would reach the esophagus. Have spoken about this with your surgeon or PCP?

Finally Surgery Date!!

Congrats! -
I was revised from Band to Bypass in 1 surgery. There are plenty of folks that get their revisions done in 1 surgery, unless you have a medical need to do so, doing 2 surgeries isn't necessary. Somethings to be aware of, and I mention this because my surgeon brought it up when I asked about revision from Band to another WLS. Band to Sleeve is a higher risk surgery due to the staple line from the Sleeve going right through the scar tissue created by the band. This creates a weak point in an already high pressure incision line. This is why I ended up going Band to Bypass and not Band to Sleeve. Also, the sleeve is just another version of a restriction surgery, the reports that you'll never be hungry again because they are going to take 80-90% of your stomach out... is not 100% accurate, it's **NOT** a guarantee at all. Actually, you are more likely to develop GERD or other acid reflux issue than to never be hungry again. Just somethings to think about.
