    Surgery

Keep walking. And use that incentive spirometer they should have given you every hour on the hour... it really does help!

    Approved today!?

I understand what starting over means, but I've never heard an insurance approve and then say that approval is only for that calendar year, typically the approval is good for a range of time from the date of approval, not capped at a calendar year. Personally, I'd reach out to your insurance company yourself and speak with them directly about it. Just so you have the information "directly from the horses mouth".

    Trying proteins before surgery.

I don't really, the coconut one tastes good, but right after surgery the smell turned my stomach. That's really the only one I had "issues" with overall.

    Approved today!?

From approval to surgery for me was like... 3 weeks. Congrats on the approval! Who said you'd have to start the approval process over?

    No family support

Sadly, WLS is also known as the divorce surgery for a reason. Have you flat out asked him why he's trying to sabotage you? Why he doesn't want to see you healthy? I'd ask some very pointed questions and be VERY honest with how you feel.
  7. Try adding a ginger root capsule to your routine, ginger helps calm nausea as well as a slew of other benefits.

First week with no weight loss

That's still a really good amount, more (to an extent) does help get that fat moving. Just stay the course and you'll be just fine!

    Trying proteins before surgery.

I drank these often with my Lap-Band and my more recent revision to RNY. They are best SUPER cold. I use their powders a lot as well.

First week with no weight loss

How's that water intake? Your body will stall out or pause sometimes before another flush of fat. If you just had a very big weight loss week, this makes sense that you wouldn't this week. Your body tries to keep things status quo, so it fights the weight loss every now and again. Just keep tracking, keep your water intake high (like 128oz a day high) and things will work themselves out. Also, if you aren't paying attention to your BMR, do so, as we age and as we lose weight, our BMR drops, so we have to adjust things to compensate.
  11. Sounds like a gas bubble let over from surgery. Do some deep breathing, when it starts to hurt, sort of do a light crunch to press into that "bubble", this helps it get absorbed. Did they give you a incentive spirometer? Are you using it several times daily?

  13. This is what 53lbs of shirts looks like. Those shirts are all laid out flat, standard sized hanger for size comparison.
  14. Thanks... some of it is going to be fun. Some of it is going to be crazy stressful. The 3 day camping trip this weekend is a prep trip for when I get to start getting back out to do some *real* camping. With the new energy levels and diet requirements, being out in the wild with no cell phone or means to contact anyone for miles means I have to be fully prepared. We've camped in Baxter State Park in Maine, you lose cell signal when you leave the highway, then it's about 2 hours to the camp sites. This coming weekend we are going to Pittsfield State Forrest, it's secluded enough for a proper test run, but close enough to services/comforts/stores if need be.

    Dealing with Co-Workers and Friends

This is exactly what I did. I took control of the narrative from the get go. I've found being super open about it means less people can gossip because everyone already knows what's happening. And everyone has been crazy supportive.
  16. Thanks! Feels pretty decent overall, makes that 200 mark that much closer. My back hurts because of the spinal arthritis. And I did some work on my Jeep this weekend that required a *LOT* of bending, crouching, crawling, scooting, leaning, stretching etc... I painted the lower plastics with truck bedliner to protect them. Looks great. But my back isn't happy at all today. The next 2 weeks... I've got a camping trip, several hikes, I have to appear in court as a character witness, I've got an upper endo, taking the wife to go see Blues Traveler... just a LOT crammed into a very short stretch of time.
  17. Officially sub 220... Long weekend. Back is *KILLING* me today. Going to be a VERY long 2 weeks ahead of me.
  18. I was Band to RNY and also did not have a swallow test. I second the adjustment in your diet, stay away from things that cause issues ... for now. I had issues with some foods while I was healing, I don't have issues with those foods now.

    November Bypass?

I was a Band to Bypass revision. A week is pretty short, and my surgery was SUPER easy... and even still, a week would not have been enough time to be comfortable going back to work. I'd highly suggest getting more time if you can.

    Eventual Celebration

I just went through my shirts yesterday, got rid of all the ones that were too big. Turned out to be 53 lbs of shirts!

    Insurance???

Most Insurances have a 2 week to 1 month turn around time for approvals. If your BMI is over 40, you shouldn't be denied. If your BMI is 35 and you have co-morbidities (diabetes, sleep apena, etc) then you shouldn't be denied. You can call your insurance and get an update on the claim / pre-approval.
