    2 Years Post Surgery

My original goal weight in my mind was 150lbs. Now, I don't think that is attainable. I have since switched my mind to BMI. RN tells me with my age and that I have had children a realistic goal is 27%; I'm 27.6.. Yesterday, I weighed in at 165 wearing size 8 to 10 pant (depending on designer). I am 5'5" and I remember wearing a size 10 when I was in my early twenties. I've pretty much maintained my weight for 6 months now and enjoy just about anything. I don't eat bread unless its crispy, I have chocolate when I want (and that isn't often or much), I enjoy wine on the occasion too. So I think I'm at my happy spot. Have you thought about BMI as a measurement? Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  3. Today marks two years for my LB. loving life. I weighed 214 when I started my journey and was a size 16/18. Today I weigh165 and wear size 8 pant and med/large top.. I feel wonderful and have a lot of energy for my grand children. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

    Weight Loss

For sure too low of an intake. I easily get 60 grams of Protein a day. The best shake I've found is lean shake 25. It's has 25 grams of protein, you can mix with low calorie juice or milk. Best price I've found is SAMs Club. This is a GNC product. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  5. I never go below 1,000 calories, I eat every 3 hours, and make sure I get 60 grams of Protein a day. Use myfitnesspal to track what you eat. There were times I didn't lose and times I only lost 1lb. It's a process for sure and will take time. Hang in there. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  6. Saturday marks my 2 anniversary and I have no regrets. I was just over 35 BMI with no medical issues. I was very tired of losing the same 20-25 lbs and never reaching my goal. Well, I am very close; I've lost 48 lbs, wear a size 8 pant and Medium / Large top. This has been a success and well worth the struggles and discipline it took to get here. Yes, I ate the wrong things because my mind wanted to and I suffered short term (weight gain, pain during digestion,etc.). Now, i think i want the peanut M&M so i buy and they sit in the cupboard. i might eventually open and eat a handful or my husband will eat them and i don't care. Today, i am focused on BMI and not weight. I am at 27.6 BMI today and the RN tells me 27% is maintainable level for me. I workout 4-5days a week. Primarily walking for 30 min and strength train using Yoga Booty Ballet. happy days are here.

some help and advice for the out of shape

Everyone is different, it depends on how much weight you need to lose, how much muscle you have, how active you are, how you eat. I'm sure all the things you already no. So, my story...I had 50+ lbs to lose. I am 5' 5" and weighed 214 lbs. I lost 12 lbs before surgery just by eating the atkins diet. Following surgery, it's been consistent and slow. This morning I weighed 173.5 so 3.5 lbs away from the 66% weight loss lapband considers successful weight loss in first year. my year was on Nov 3 so I am pleased. I personally want to lose more than 50 and will reset when I hit this goal. For me, I want to be 25% or less BMI. Fitness standpoint, walking is the best way to lose body fat. You don't have to have expensive equipment and you don't have to workout at a high impact rate. My plan... I purchased a treadmill a year ago; Texas has unpredictble weather so I have no excuse. I wrote a blog entry on this call 'let's get moving' www.weightlosssurgeryguru.com. I now am trying to build muscle as I think this will help with the last lbs I want to lose. I have a basic target muscle book and an old diet plan that is helping me structure a work out using bands for my body shape. There are quite a few websites out there too. Livestrong is one that I like to use. Please stay in touch, I love to chat if you need to. Geri

some help and advice for the out of shape

Hi brandon, for me i just walk and walk. I wrote a great piece on my blog recently about this. If you can only walk 5 min then do that couple times a day. Build up tp 30 min a day most days or even everyday. This is the best form of exercise to begin with and is low impact. For my year of banding, that is all I've done. I can't believe how strong my heart is and the endurance I have now. Just, please start and stick with it. Good Luck Geri www.weightlosssurgeryguru.com

    gained weight

Stay positive and remember this is a process, the weight won't fall off overnight and it will take time. I've been banded for a year now and steadily loss .5 to 1 lb a week. As long as you stay focused, measure, eat the right amount of Protein and walk you will do fine. I recently measured 3.4 c food per meal and ate more often, this helped a lot and prevented me from over eating. Check out my blog, I recently started it and am posting tips. What Makes You Get A Lap Band Fill?

I suggest you keep a food diary and let the experts decide if you need a fill. I had about 50 lbs to lose and steadily lost 1-3 lbs per month. some months only 1 lb and one month I gained. I started tracking my food in myfitnesspal.com to ensure I was getting enough Protein. I did stall and it was suggested I measure my food to 3/4 c per meal. I learned I was overeating. The details are on my blog. I also walk 30 min most days and this helps. Good luck. Geri www.weightlosssurgeryguru.com

    Fill Questions

congrats to you on moving forward. I had my first fill 30 days later then went for monthly check-ups; 4 was all it took for me (that was last March). This week will be my one year mark and I am close to the 66% excesse weight loss. I went to the doctors today day and had another fill. Please check out my blog - I will be posting many items I've learned over the past year. http://www.weightlosssurgeryguru.com/ Geri
