I went in today & was told my band slipped... AGAIN (second time in 3.5 yrs). I'm tired of messing with this... Fills, deflates & surgical repairs. They deflated it completely & want me to have surgery asap to repair. Thinking of just revising it to a gastric sleeve instead. Anyone else have a suggestion or opinion on a revision? I meet w the surgeon next week so am doing some research. I'm down 57 lbs, and am afraid of gaining back if left untreated. Thanks in advance

I was told today that my BMI is too low for a sleeve revision. So I guess we'll just do a lab band repair. It's my second slippage 'repair' in 3 yrs... So disappointed ????

Just told today, what I already feared... My band has slipped. Been 1 yr post op this week and down 60 lbs. I felt like I was making slow but steady progress. My Dr told me he has never had an i-band slip before. Anyone else out there had this happen?

An I band is a lap band with a plication. My clue was that over night I literally couldn't keep anything down, not even ice. It was out of the blue, and not after a fill.

I had my band & plication done in Nov, and have so far lost 42 lbs. However, for the last 2 weeks everything except liquids are getting stuck. Almost as if my throat won't allow solids down. My last fill was 6 wks ago, so it shouldn't be the band that's causing this. It's fustrating because I was doing so good, and now am miserable. Has this happened to anyone else?

Help With "stuck Incidents"
twinmomleb replied to lassie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pineapple juice also helps with stuck foods. My Dr suggested it today. You can buy cans of it on the juice aisle. The acidity essentially melts to food to push it on through. I stopped today and already bought some. -
Iband With Gastric Sleeve Plication

If you eat lunch at work with friends, you will probably want to share with them about your surgery. I did, because my eating habits have drastically changed. There are things that I love, that I can't have anymore. Also, mine are great cheerleaders for me on this journey. Good Luck. -
Banded Gastric Plication

I had my band & plication on a Friday & went back to work the following Monday. I was just sore, but didn't even take any pain pills. You'll do fine. If you've had children, this is a cake walk -
Banded Gastric Plication

I used Dr Adam Smith @ FtWorth lapband. I have not been able to eat any type of bread or fried food, since my surgery in Nov. First of all it gets stuck & which hurts, then I end up throwing it up anyway. So I gave up trying. Everything else in small bites with alot of chewing, seems to be Ok. -
Banded Gastric Plication
twinmomleb replied to Mara005's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So far, so good. Just had 3cc's removed from the lap band on Friday... As it was too tight. The plication really keeps you from over eating. Which is a good thing. As it takes awhile for the lap band to be filled enough to feel snug. -
I also got some taken out today....they removed 3 cc's. I had my 4th fill 5 days ago, and had been unable to keep anything down except liquids until today. My Dr says it can be related to allergy season, as this is common this time of year (in Texas). The extra sinus drainage causes swelling. They also told me that each time I was vomiting, I was causing even more irritation & swelling I am amazed that just 3 little cc's could make such a difference. I too am concerned about gaining in the next 3 weeks now until my next fill. So I will really have to be careful.

Banded Gastric Plication
twinmomleb replied to Mara005's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had the lap band & plication (iBand) done in November. It's a new procedure that is semilar to a gastric sleeve. They decrease the size of your stomach by stapeling it. This increases your weight loss success of the lap band & also deceases the chance of the lap band slipping. -
I had my 4th fill yesterday & can only tolerate liquids. I am so miserable this time. Not sure if I should ask for them to take some out, or wait it out. Any suggestions?

I am so sorry you ate going through that. My marriage of 18 years is ending, because my husband was seeing a friend if mine. I am now separated & working 3 jobs to make ends meet. I feel your pain... And it sucks big time. However in the end we'll pick up & move forward.... Looking way hotter

I have lost 36 lbs so far since Nov. I have another weigh in & fill tomorrow. Although I am happy with the 36 lbs, I really thought it would be more by now. I am doing Zumba 3 times a week. My Dr says they expect 4-8 lbs a month... so I guess I am on track. -

I have had 3 fills since my surgery in November, and will get another fill on Monday. I had the plication do also, and have been really happy so far. You won;t really feel the badn restriction until about the 3rd fill. They told me that prior to surgery, but after the 3rd fill I now understand it. It now stops my intake alot faster than before. I still miss bread...but the results are well worth the sacrafice Good luck -

I did not stay over night, it's a laproscopic proceedure...so just day surgery. I went with the lap band & plication. The plication decreases the chances of band slippage, as well as keeps me from over eating. I feel full much faster & do not feel the need to snack between meals. Having both together increases your success, and was definitely the right choice for me. -
Finally...the Scale Is Moving Again!
twinmomleb replied to Jenn1214's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my band & plication ion November. Lost 19 lbs pretty fast, but have been stuck at the same weight now for 3 weeks. I did join a gym 2 weeks ago and began Zumba. I am so fustrated that my scale isn't moving. Any one else been there? Fluffy & fustrated. -
Iband With Gastric Sleeve Plication

I had the lapband w/ plication done 11/9/11. I also had to have some of the band fluid removed 1 week post op to relieve the heartburn symptoms. I have had 1 fill since then, and haven't had any more symptoms. Although I have lost 22 lbs, I am now at a stand still. I am looking forward to my next fill next week, to jump start another weight loss. I hope you feel better soon, and have a happy new year. Brandie -
