So, I've been on this journey so far since July (1st appt. with my dr.) I told most of my close co-workers, hoping to find support from them. I thought that I had it, but obviously not (especially from the over-weight co-workers). Example: the other day while sitting in the break room, a very slim, petite co-worker asked me when my surgery was and I told her Dec. 13th. She was very excited, supportive, and sincere with her well wishes. Sitting in the corner was another co-worker who is even more overweight than myself and to my surprise she said "So! I'm gonna bring everything food imaginable, that you shouldn't eat and sit it right in front of your face." I was so surprised. I said, "Wow, thanks for being so supportive." We had previously talked and she was even considering getting banded but never followed through. I know that I can't make people be supportive of my decision, but how do I handle these types of situations. It just seems to me that she is miserable in her life and doesn't want to be happy for me and the changes that I've decided to make in my life. I can only imagine the comments that I will get once I'm banded and start losing weight. I know that I shouldn't let this bother me but it does. Has anyone else had a similar situation? How did you deal with it?

I guess that is a good day! I called my mom as soon as I got to the car and she reminded me that she was banded on Dec. 16th 3 years ago. I will have to go get me a toddler set of dinnerware too along with the GasX. I will keep you updated! -

Thanks Everyone! I will definately keep you updated. Keep your head up and you will all have your date before you know it. -
I just got home from the doctor's office. They did my history and physical and went over any questions that I had and scheduled my surgery. December 13th!! I am so happy and excited. The hospital will call me for my pre-admission testing but I don't have to do a pre-op diet.

Well, as I said before, my surgery is APPROVED! It's official, I even got my approval letter in the mail from my insurance company (Federal Employees BC/BS). Now I'm just waiting on my surgery date. I go to the dr. on 11/14 to do my history and physical and for them to tell me any remaining tests I have to do. That is also the day that they will schedule my surgery! I was hoping for the end of November since my birthday is the 26th (wouldn't that be an awesome b-day present) but I doubt that will happen, so I guess I will just receive an early Christmas present!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! I went to my primary care dr. on August 17, had my 1st dietician appt. on Sept. 10th, and my 2nd dietician appt. on Oct. 22nd. My surgeon's office went ahead and submitted it without a 3rd dietician appt. because my primary care dr. had documented that we spoke about diet and different plans to try. I will know about the remaining tests that I have to do when I go to the surgeon next week. I do know for sure that I will have to have the ultrasound but still unclear about the EGD and the sleep apnea test.
