    Be honest....

alot of people having lapband had those symptoms you listed before they got the lapband. i know alot of diabetics have many of those symptoms. in my own very short experience, i have followed my dr's instructions and havent had any issues. i get hungry on occassion but nothing a small protein shake wont cure. sure some have trial and error process for fills, will find that out soon.

    greek yogurt

Oikos honey and fage honey as well! mmmmmm.
  3. why would you want to? and be careful, most of the healing is on the inside and with the pouch which we cant see. why get it done if you dont want to follow your doctor's plan? i have had almost no adverse affects but sticking with my doctor's eating plans and so far its working.
  4. I get my first fill in less than 2 weeks. I see alot here who seem to have horror stories about being over-filled. So far, I havent really had ANY complaints. very little soreness, raising my arms fixes the burping/pressure problem and my hunger isnt that horrible. Currently, I do get hungry, but a few sips of Protein shake or Soup and I am good to go. I can not drink anything too quickly, i generally eat and drink everything one spoonfull at a time. If I get a fill, will i suddenly be unable to get even Protein shakes down? should i be more hungry then i am? almost afraid to go back to a normal food eating stage. afraid one bite of the wrong food and ill be off track before i begin.

    Post-Op Itchies!

i scratched around the incisions and that helped some. just gotta be careful not to scrape the wounds with sharp nails.
  6. yay congrats!! i am almost into the 200s(302 this morning) and i cant imagine how i will feel when i get that close to onderland. i think i will be floating with happiness lol. good luck!

    dog walking

i used one of the head harnesses for my shepherd, and it just turns them if they pull, a bit like horses reins. so its actually a bit more comfortable then just pulling on their necks. and i have a 20 pound eskie girl and she seemed ok to walk after a few days. use the arm opposite the port since that is the longest to heal and the most sore after.

    Finally got my date!

congrats! i was so happy when i got my surgery date. because of insurance issues, it took 3 years. and then it was less then a week away once they gave me the date. my surgeon found a hernia and my stomach was too high, but even with the scans and such pre-op, they only found it when i was in surgery, good thing they did the surgery. so good luck!

    SOOO very nervous

think positively. the band was just a tool, youve done the hard work to get this far. go back to liquids and mushies after the diet. keep an old fat pic around for the times you want to eat something you shouldnt. congrats on the lost weight. looks like youre almost at your mini goal.

Low libido because of weight loss?

its always increased mine in the past. how are you feeling about yourself? could it be a mental block? excercise creates endorphines which make you happy, always feel better about it when i am happy with myself. maybe sip some wine to relax?

    what stage am i at

when were you banded? did you get a post op nutritional plan from your doctor? that should tell you what stage you are.

The first 6 weeks after surgery

i am on week 2 and i do get hungry at times, but a small protein drink or some soup or cottage cheese(1/2 cup) fills me pretty good. and i am losing so i think that is motivation. i keep track of my calories on myfitness.com cause if i dont, i tend to get off track. good luck with next 2 weeks, then you get your fill!
  15. i think you already know the answer. maybe it was a plateau. but the bags of cookies will make it a + instead of any -. just keep up what you know is the right thing to do. dont let your doubts do you in, just think next week it will be 2 pounds, maybe more. as long as you go down and not up!

    I failed :(

my liquid pre-op was just 2 days long, thank goodness but i also had to drink citrate of magnesia for surgery prep. i ate ALOT of jello in the pre-op, lol and ramen noodle broth.

    Liquids To Soft Food

mine is supposed to be 2 weeks liquids, 2 weeks mushy, 2 weeks solid etc.i start mushies tuesday. yay. i do ok with liquids as long as i dont gulp them down.but also varying things with some creamy soups(ones with mostly cream and not solid stuff in it, i strain that), broth and protein shakes. when i want more, i weigh myself and its a pretty good checkstop since i like it going down direction.

went to seminar feeling discouaged already!

the amount of effort, both in keeping to the nutritional plans and how much excercise you put in will determine how much and how well you keep the weight off. its not a magic pill though where you take it and the weight comes off by itself. it does take work. its just a tool to help you do the work.
  20. susan73

    liquids

i cant take big gulps. i just have to sip alot. takes longer but can still drink alot.

    SO FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

someone posted a fill website that list locations that do fills. maybe find a new doctor if yours cant accomodate you. might be able to find it by googling lapband fills also.

    banded on 11/1/11

yes, i was banded on 10-25 and the port incision has been the slowest to heal. seems normal course for things from reading others on here.
  23. how do you know if he has even healed properly and if he does eat something solid before he should, are you going to pay the bill to have things fixed? theres a difference in indulging sometimes and not being able to control yourself for a week or two. something most couldnt do since we are in these situations, myself included. maybe his doctor should decide whats best for the patient and not a know-it-all who seems a bit irate at everyone.
  24. what's too soon and why would someone want to go against their doctor's orders? its not easy, but definitely not worth it to go off the plan.

    Stomach Virus and LapBand

if powerade or gatorade are going down, that should help you from dehydrating. i am drinking more gatorade then water since having my band placed last week anyhow. seems easier for me right now. hope youre feeling well soon.
